  1. Anyone seen one in person yet? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EMTFITAGH--epiphone-masterbilt-frontier-iced-tea-aged-gloss
  2. DUH! I forgot they did that! I'll be up there the week prior unfortunately, would be Friday the 14th in Bozeman most likely. I'll have to see what I can do!
  3. Hey guys, not been around in while! I'm going up to Montana in June, to the Glacier Park area. Is there anything worth seeing in Bozeman? I know they stopped doing tours at the plant but is there a store or some other kind of stuff Gibson related that I should make a special trip to Bozeman for? It would be about a 6 hour drive added to my trip in order to spend a day there.
  4. I just tried one for the first time yesterday. It was the cutaway songbird/hummingbird type. Played and sounded great! I want one now lol
  5. What are you doing with the original guard? I'd be interested in it!
  6. Ya give us some pics! Are you saying it's all dark blue on the top and the back of the guitar? Because I know the Union Jack Noel Gallagher Supernova's were dark blue on the back of the guitar. The new Sheraton ones they are making are white on the back and no longer a "Noel Gallagher" guitar.
  7. Hey folks, I've got a guy wanting to buy the pickguard off my Sheraton. I'm in the process of switching everything from gold to chrome and he's bought some of the gold parts, but now I'm thinking I want to change the guard to a black one too. He says he'd like to buy the tortoise shell guard (with the E on it) but I'm not sure how much to charge. Any suggestions?
  8. My guard is tortoise but I want a black one like on a Dot. Thing is the binding on my black Sheraton is more a cream color than white, any ideas where I can find a good replacement?
  9. Check out this eBay auction, guy haas a 1994 Hummingbird he's asking $1,200 for. Maybe I should put mine up on eBay for $1,000 and undercut him! http://www.ebay.com/itm/172598643116?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true
  10. Sure looks fake to me but I'm admittedly not an expert. No serial on the back of the headstock, what looks like an Epi sized pickguard, and that funky shaped fretboard all scream fake to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/162431722399?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l6006&boolp=1&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI162431722399.N43.S1.R2.TR4
  11. IMHO the Masterbilts are easily comparable to the lower priced Gibsons for sound. I'd say about 90% as good a sound for half the price. The main things for me are the scale length and nut width on most Gibsons vs the long scale and thinner nut on most Masterbilts. The EF masterbilts have an extra wide nut but are long scale, the AJ-45 Masterbilt has the short scale but the thinner nut. I prefer the short scale and wider nut on most of the Gibson's but be wary of the Hummingbird Artist or Pro, both are long scale, thin nut just like most Masterbilts.
  12. Nah, no abalone. It's a very red sunburst, almost too red but plays and sounds great so I dig!
  13. I bought it, turned out to be in great shape. Sounds great and jams with the bursts. Only trouble was he smokes so it was pretty stinky at first but it's aired out now. I'm going to take it for a proper set-up at the shop next week. Should be fun to play!
  14. Wanting my first electric, if this a good deal on a Sheraton II? https://houston.craigslist.org/msg/5945715706.html
  15. I have a DR-500M and my brother a DR-500MCE, both are terrific. I've never played an AJ-45 but if it's similar to the AJ-500M it's likely great. That being said, I prefer the feel of the square shoulder shaped guitars over the slope shoulders. I end up playing my DR-500M more than the others. On a side note, to compare them to the Texan, if you want something that sounds different I'd venture to guess you'd be best off with a different body wood, like maybe the AJ-500R or the EF-500RCCE. Or go for a used Gibson J-15, you likely will really like the short scale and wider nut compared to most Epis.
  16. Is the J-30 long scale? Kinda loos like it in the pics on eBay- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-J-30-100-Year-Anniversary-w-case-USED-/222331418262?hash=item33c3fc3696:g:zFsAAOSw2xRYP0d5
  17. Should have added the Epi Hummingbird isn't anywhere near the Gibson is terms of sound or feel. You'll be unhappy with it as compared to a Masterbilt.
  18. Try the Epiphone Masterbilts, I own lots of them and they are really great guitars at much lower price. IMHO they sound about 90% as good as a Gibson at just 30% of the price. If you can find a used DR-500M I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. Or just buy a brand new DR-500MCE, AJ-45 or AJ-500RCE. I'd say at least check them out before you buy anything else.
  19. I want to put the DR-500M / AJ-500RCE pick guard on all my Masterbilts. You think if I called Epi they'd sell me ten of them?
  20. What about Masterbilts with serials that start with GG?
  21. I played both and went with the J-45 if that helps!
  22. I love Jamey Johnson! That's an EF-500R he's playing in that video. Great guitar, with extra wide nut that's nice for my gorilla hands!
  23. I feel like an idiot but don't know anything about the Grand Reward factory, tell me more folks!
