  1. thanks a bunch for the info. i appreciate it. i think i'm buying a micro-amp pedal so i won't have to crank the volume up, and then i'm just gonna hope for the best. right now i don't have the money to buy a new amp and just let that one sit. plus it sounds so damn sexy... for the majority of it's use, it'll be clean and vibey for alt country use.
  2. Just picked up a 1964-65 Epiphone Pacemaker Tremolo amp. it's a 1x10, has volume, on/off switch, trem frequency and a fuse on the face. very simple. i love it. i got it for 400 dollars at a local shop. it came with the original operator's manual and it smells like an antique shop. i love it! volume all the way up on the amp with vol at 5 on my guitar makes a smooth bluesy clean tone i've always dreamed of. vol up on the amp and at ten on the guitar makes a natural distortion that makes me want to cry for joy! When i built my Epi Junior project i was proud of it, but it never really sounded like anything special with the amps i played it through. until now. now i know exactly why i built the junior and why i spent the money on the pacemaker. i hope to have some recordings in the near future to show off, but for now there's just pictures hope ya'll like it
  3. played a gibby les paul junior Billie Joe Armstrong model through a valve senior head plugged into a bugera 2x12 cab yesterday. it sounded wonderful. my question tho, if i don't find the valve senior COMBO that i want, is about cab possibilities. are the 4x10 guitar cabs out there? if not (or if not in my price range) would a 4x10 bass cab work? i love the sound of a 4x10 combo like the fender bassman, but don't have the money. would this head-cab combo simulate that sound, or am i just not knowledgeable about any of this stuff? i'm waiting to make a purchase until i know for sure that i want the product, so as of now, just because the head/cab i played sounded great, i'm not ready to buy cause i haven't found my perfect one
  4. my bad, it was a bugera cab. but my question still stands. i'm gonna repost in the amp section. i forgot it was there
  5. played a gibby les paul junior Billie Joe Armstrong model through a valve senior head plugged into a bogner 2x12 cab today. it sounded wonderful. my question tho, if i don't find the valve senior COMBO that i want, is about cab possibilities. are the 4x10 guitar cabs out there? if not (or if not in my price range) would a 4x10 bass cab work? i love the sound of a 4x10 combo like the fender bassman, but don't have the money. would this head-cab combo simulate that sound, or am i just not knowledgeable about any of this stuff?
  6. wondering if anyone knows how thick the paint is coated on an epi lp junior neck? i really want to continue my relicing by taking the finish and paint off to mimic years of heavy playing. check this link for example = http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Vintage-VINT-1953-GIBSON-LES-PAUL-CST-BLK-103848255-i1565702.gc does anyone know specifics about the neck paint? I KNOW that i can find out by just doing it, but i'd like to hear from someone else that's done it so i know what i'm in for.
  7. 1. a special-II, while not an expensive guitar, can be a quality guitar 2. you paid for a quality service and deserve to get what you paid for my two cents: if you take your guitar in, as has been suggested, and "demand" anything at all, be sure that you are firm in your intentions. NOBODY is going to grant your desires if you don't act like you feel like you deserve what you want. i don't not mean, in any way, that you should be a jerk. firm talking is completely different from being obnoxious. what i mean is, walk in to the store, talk to whoever needs to be talked to, be respectful but demand to be treated like the quality customer you are. example: "excuse me, i'd like to speak with a _________ (manager, luthier, etc) about some problems i've encountered with a product i bought from you..... i'd like to have this set up redone because i'm unhappy with the outcome of the previous service." sounds completely different than "hey, where's a manager?.... hey, this piece of crap won't stay in tune, your luthier TRIED to fix it and it didn't work and it's still dumb and won't stay in tune! i want my money back!" /end
  8. i more than appreciate the comments and replies and how quick they arrived. for those curious about my intentions and the guitar i'm doing it with, i've been relicing for over a year. i know what i'm doing as far as the paint goes. it's a squier strat, so it's not necessarily something that i'm worried about "ruining". and yes, i'm not great at things like intoneation. i do have friends that know what they're doing, tho, so i'm just trying to figure out how much beer i'll have to buy to bribe them to do it for me.
  9. i'm relicing a guitar with a bolt on neck. if i remove the neck in order to work on the body and it's paint, will i have to re-intonate the guitar when i put the neck back on? thanks for the quick reply
  10. OH SKETCH!!!! that's amazing! i remember you talkin about getting that pickguard! i'm so jealous.... the guitar center here just got a cherry red one.... not sure i like it. and they just got the epi LP specials with the soap bars in em. played on thru a marshall class 5 (which i will have one day. oh yes. i will have it) and it screamed!!!!
  11. me neither. i'd trade the poster for the sticker anyday
  12. haven't been on here for a while, but was hoping to see some new updates of people's juniors and such. nothing new has happened with mine, but it's gotten some play time this summer due to my band being on hiatus (i'm the drummer, not much guitar time for me) and also it's first onstage appearance at our last show. my new LP special DC from warmouth (GOGO13 guitar) had it's neck cracked when a friend accidentally dropped it, but it was cracked already so i'm not too pissed about it. plus with the pup's being as crappy as they are, i wasn't playing it anyway. school's started and i don't have a job anymore, so that project will be on hold for a while. been working on aging my squier strat tho and it's lookin ok... need more dirty hands groping it to age it, but that'll happen for sure if i keep letting friends play it. so anyway, i hope to see some more juniors posted asap here's mine (again) with the color and contrast edited for optimal viewing quality Uploaded with ImageShack.us oh oh oh! i remembered something. my jackplate came off one day while i was playing! three of the four screws had stripped out so i was just kinda hangin on there.... so (maybe you all know this trick, maybe you don't) i took it off, filled the screw holes with toothpaste (white), and then pushed the screws back in, wiped off the excess toothpaste, and let it dry for a week. now it's on there quite firmly. i hope and pray that i'll never have to remove it, cause it's pretty solid. hope that if you experience this, you can use this knowledge to help fix it!
  13. my buddy is getting a 1967 gibby es330 with the dogear p90's with metal covers. is there a tone difference between the metal covers and the plastic ones? which do you all prefer?
  14. does the reynolds come in sunburst? also, i'm really lookin just for a one pickup to match my junior
  15. thinkin bout getting a peewee, just for shits. makin a mini-me for my junior. wondering what the bridge on the peewee is. i can't tell from the pic on the epi site and haven't seen any better pics... I KNOW that it's not a great guitar. and i know it's not necessarily gonna be used daily... but i'm bored and i need something to do... plus, starting a ska band, and it'd be pretty rad to pull that out during a show.
  16. billie joe's guitars, flogging molly's guitars, and my guitars
  17. the good news is i found the original owner... the bad news, he still hasn't replied to my email where i asked him about the origin of the body and the neck... i still have no idea about how to fix this thing up.... also, is there a company that makes humbucker sized dogear p90s? cause the one's on the blue guitar look to be humbucker sized.... maybe i just don't know enough about guitars....
  18. http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=14770 here's my formal apology for his actions. thanks, old scratch, for bringing this to my attention. i wish i could tell you all of the posts that were made by him so that you could contrast and know when it was him posting and when it was me, but i have no real way of knowing. what i can tell you is, while he may enjoy lying and making up stories about being handicapped, he does know what he's talking about when he talks guitars. so any information he may have posted about guitars was most likely credible info. again, i apologize.
  19. sorry, "i" am actually me, and my friend. i thank you for bringing his posts to my attention. i'm sorry for the misunderstanding. i'll never be letting him on my account again. those things he said were untrue and misleading
  20. i finally did a sound check so you can hear the pups and stuff.... sorry the sound isn't that great, but whatever....
  21. here's a good vid! especially considering that halloween ISN'T this month!
