  1. If you listen to any of the last few Patti Smith albums and hear a deep sounding guitar it's an ES-135.
  2. I can relate to that one. I just love my Gut-B-Gone, they even threw in a Pocket Fisherman!
  3. Every once in a while I'll take a look but in all honesty, I don't think I'll be buying any more guitars. A 335 in natural with black P90s could change that if it had eye-popping wood grain or maybe a red 355 with a VariTone and Lyre tailpiece.
  4. Ye Olde Sgt Zappa had a pair of P94s but he sold them soon after he got them. Perhaps he could post his thoughts on them?
  5. What the hell is wrong with your company? It looks like you're sending all of the really nice guitars to England. What are we, chopped liver? Please explain. Thank you, Steve Ford
  6. If you don't get it you'll be kicking yourself. As you said, it's a rare guitar and you can afford and it is different than the beauty you currently have.
  7. I like the one you already have better but P90s are nice.
  8. Yeah, that does sound good. Don't hold those thoughts in, you can implode.
  9. If you hold these thoughts in too long bad things can happen. Bet that Howard Roberts Fusion model got you thinking impure thoughts. New strings for the Firebird VII and I took some fine emery paper to the slot for the B string, every so often one will pop and I'm using 11s. Also polished the old girl up and marvelled at how poor the gold plating is on Gibson parts. Pieces are disappearing on a pick up surround. Nothing ever touches that area. Maybe it's my breath?
  10. The 2017 Firebird had Grenadillo, too. I was going to get one but it's got that flat headstock so that kind of put me off the idea.
  11. Yep, Stetson, Dobbs, Disney (no relation to Walt) and Knox hats from the early 1900s up until the present. They do a really good job of taming a live room. I was going to add another row to that one long wall but it's possible to have too much of a good thing.
  12. Finished up a spare bedroom as a reading/listening room.
  13. It looks similar to my 137 Custom so it's a big guitar and is a bit of handfull due to the size of the lower bout, especially playing seated. Having said that, I would take the one you brought home over a 330 or 335 any day. I don't think you could have lucked into a better one. If you ever get hard up, sell a kidney keep the guitar.
  14. That should not have left like that. They must need to buy some light bulbs.
  15. If I'm not mistaken weren't you thinking about a 335 and then went off on a tangent about some Asian guitars? If so, you really were at the right place at the right time with the one you brought home. That one had your name on it.
  16. I've been disappointed with my playing on Gibson guitars but that probably doesn't count.
  17. Maybe a 498? https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Gear/Pickups-and-Electronics I had a Faded 2007 V and I just hated those pick ups. If I had kept the guitar I would have put in 57s.
  18. I see why you bought it, congratulations!
  19. You don't see the paint guys wearing respirators at the factory. Maybe when they get too addled they are moved over into the Murphy Labs section?
  20. I keep them in the case unless they're being played regularly. I try to keep mine in perfect shape but they do get wear just playing them and sometimes I am a clod and bonk something. That whole mojo thing, just another way of saying beat to snot by people who didn't care.
  21. When he stuck it in the charging dock I thought it was being put in a toilet!
  22. They can have her for free, I don't care. I could use some strings, I guess, so I may have to play hardball with them.
  23. Nice collection and I really like his sense of humor. What does that do? None of your business, figure it out for yourself!
