Hope it's only a cold, my mom's got the same thing going on. She's in Florida and says forget trying to get tested, the lines start at 3AM. I fixed a phono preamp by replacing an 12AU7 which failed the emissions test and ordered some fancy, schmancy Kimber 12TC speaker cables. Going to get these stereos the way I want them by April if all goes well.

All kidding aside, I just haven't encountered the issues that seem to crop up in a lot of these posts. I think they're making guitars better than they ever have and I've never had a problem with customer service, they've always been great to deal with. They just need to drop prices some, lose the super heavy cases and put the Firebird back to the way it's supposed to be: fancy headstock with banjo tuners.

While it's easy to poke fun at our host's fondness for marketing buzzwords, fondness for dressing up like the long lost Ramones brother, the fetish for fake beat up guitars and penchant for penny pinching and price gouging, I've been really pleased with their products. Everything I've seen from them recently has been really good. A little set up for personal preferences and the guitars are excellent. I don't mean to brag but a quick dressing with a welding tip file and my nuts are to die for. Anyone else?

Yep, it's ridiculous. So many of the manufacturers have blown off North America and their target audience is Japan and the Middle East. Oh no, my tweeter is full of sand... I do pretty good by shopping around and don't go for the latest and the greatest - there's a lot of gear purge going on all the time when upgradeitis hits these guys.

I resolve to do my patriotic duty to help keep our nation's economy chugging along by purchasing more expensive stereo equipment! And maybe some motorcycles but probably no guitars except for maybe a Martin J-40.

Virtuoso has a couple of products (cleaner and a polish) which will shine it up a bit but you're not going to get a high gloss like you would if it had a couple of coats of clear nitro. I would try a spot on the back to see how it goes before you hit the front of the guitar.

I've found that the 490s will have a more aggressive sound than the 57s. Both pick ups work really well, just different flavors.

That I am not. I held him in such high esteem as a player and then with his charitable work with that Crossroads foundation to help combat addiction. Then again, he did go after his best friend's wife in a very public manner and he did have his drunken racist rant come to light.
