  1. When you realize it's been at least 15 years since you last changed the lawn mower's spark plug. They just don't make things like they used to, by crackey!
  2. https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/beatlemania-is-back-chart-topping-now-then-breaks-records-2023-11-10/ The song is the fastest-selling single of the year to date in Britain with 48,600 physical and download sales based on the its first seven days, the Official Charts Company said. It is also the fastest-selling vinyl single of the century so far in Britain with more than 19,400 copies sold on vinyl, and the most-streamed Beatles track in one week, with 5.03 million streams, it added. Yes, I would say they're still relevant but there's no telling what age demographic is doing the purchasing. Things tend to skip a generation so it could be grandparents and their grandchildren.
  3. The Fabs have shot to the Toppermost of the Poppermost, Number One with a bullet on the UK Charts.
  4. Leon Russell - Guitar Blues (CD), Life and Love (vinyl) Rolling Groans - Hackney Diamonds (black vinyl)
  5. Yes, that is a nice area. I was an hour south of there in the Stroudsburg area but have been up there many times. Great motorcycle roads and you've got plenty of hiking and fishing areas around there.
  6. The Pinnochios? I used to live there, do a real good house inspection as the older ones were primarily Summer homes, the new ones are mostly constructed as cheaply as possible when they suckered in the New Yorkers with the rail roads will be in operation, SOON! Soon as in never.
  7. The TV Yellow SG and SG Supreme look interesting.
  8. That case certainly upped my golf game! Congrats on the new guitar, I'll bet those pick ups sounds good in it.
  9. You talked me into Hackney Diamonds. I bought the last Pink Floyd , Who and Jeff Beck albums so 80 year old Stones it is.
  10. The album cover seemed to be the best part of Exile. I listened to my copy of it maybe 5 times, same with Goats Head Soup. The greatest hits compliations, High Tides And Green Grass, Through The Past (Darkly), along with Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Get Yer Ya-Yas Out and Sticky Fingers I've played maybe as much as the Beatles albums. Both good in their own way, I think Jumpin' Jack Flash and A Day In The Life will always resonate with music lovers.
  11. The Monarch Butterfly migration goes down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I saw one flying over the Chesapeake Bay today - did you see the butterflies? I know they've been put on the Endangered Species list and I've seen hardly any this year.
  12. There's no way of telling what musical tastes will be like 50 or 100 years from now. I still like a lot of the Stone's stuff, from 1967-1971 they were at the top of their game. Like the Beatles and most of the British Invasion stuff, I think it held up well. I've met teen-agers who feel the same way, they find current music to be lacking. They're probably in the minority, though.
  13. His stereo gear wasn't so hot but in an old interview he did say it wasn't The Playboy Deluxe System. I've been unable to find that article, it was in either Rolling Stone or Playboy, where they featured the various rock stars and their stereo gear. Some of them had really nice systems but most of them were like Frank's, it was okay but nothing wonderful. Grace Slick said she didn't care as they mastered everything to sound good on AM on a car radio.
  14. They're all over the place plugging that album. I heard one song off of it, Angry, I think it's called, with the video of the girl rolling around in a car. They could have shortened it and not missed anything but I'm sure it will sell.
  15. https://people.com/the-beatles-announce-new-song-now-and-then-8382741?utm_campaign=peoplemagazine&utm_content=link&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_term=653aade56443c70001981558&fbclid=IwAR0u57qmpj01_68Zlf2VLE6cEKHCy4LnZEfajBbZZkN8kpOC_b2F_OXCDwM They're back in the news. No other band really gets this kind of publicity. New Hendrix track? Who cares. New Stones album? That's nice. New Beatles track? Let's hear it!
  16. Maybe they're still on the playlists. The only thing worth listening to around here are the college stations and they never play them, I've never heard them when I was forced to listen to rock stations at work. I did get to hear a lot of Ozzie Osbourne, Guns N Rose, Queen, Skynyrd, Hendrix, AC/DC and stuff like that. I can't recall when I last heard The Beatles on the radio, probably after John Lennon was murdered, The Beatles were all over the radio stations.
  17. Let's not go there. The Beatles albums still sell well but you seldom hear their music playing anywhere, I think it's just been played to death and everyone is sick of hearing it over and over and over again. Does the music hold up? Yes.
  18. It was Murph who said bicycles blocking traffic. I never saw a bicycle on there but they are allowed which is crazy: https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/bicycling-the-parkway.htm#:~:text=The Blue Ridge Parkway offers,Bicyclists should exercise extreme caution.
  19. Replacing the P100s with Gibson P90s would be a good move.
  20. I was on the Tail Of The Dragon decades ago when it was just a detour due to road construction - great road but pay attention or else, there's no run off room. Bicycles on the BRP? That's a good way to get everybody killed.
  21. According to this, that's a Les Paul Special Tribute: https://prosoundhq.com/gibson-les-paul-special-vs-tribute-vs-special-tribute/
  22. It's a beautiful area of the country, that's for sure. You don't want to ride a motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway this time of year. The old people stop in the middle of the road to gawk instead of using one of the scenic overlooks. You come around a blind corner and there they are, stopped in the road. From right after Labor Day to early October it's motorcycle paradise, the place is deserted.
