  1. Yeah, get your lazy butts off of Social Security and Medicare and get a job, BOOMER!
  2. Gibson neck profiles are all over the place, you can never be sure of what you're getting. SGs seem to be really variable, I've had them where's the rest of it (61 Reissue) to this belongs on a classical guitar (Classic). The SG Special and Standard have been pretty consistent from my limited experience.
  3. That they are. Don't let it sit idle too long, you'll turn it on and go uh oh.
  4. I had some old junk laying around and some spare time today so decided to hook it up and see how bad it sounded. Magnepan MMG speakers (the little guys), Kimber 8TC speaker cables, Sonic Frontiers SFL-2 preamp, Conrad-Johnson MV2275 amplifier and a current Rega Apollo CD player. It doesn't sound bad at all, it sounds great! Not the last word in anything and needs a subwoofer hooked up but what a fun sounding system. Leon Russell's Streaker Ball was a lot of fun to listen to. Pardon the mess, I wasn't expecting company.
  5. You see on the news that Al DiMeola had a heart attack on stage.
  6. One friend's comment was it seems like a cash grab by Gibson, I don't know why they even called it a Supreme.
  7. It's back again but with a lot of changes. The main one is the Ultra Modern Weight Relief, I can't tell from the pictures but I think they lost the arched back. https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Collection/les-paul-supreme
  8. To go along with our roads and libraries and public schools and subsidies to farmers, Gibson will soon be announcing the Les Proletariat.
  9. Someone posted earlier about a Les Paul Standard possibly going for $3,000 by the end of the year. They're $3,000 right now, $200 cheaper with P90s.
  10. Wonder when they're going to start putting these on the back?
  11. Not much of a story behind it but I always wanted a Gold Top with P90s. When they came out in 2019 I had to get one. I know what you mean by "that sound". As soon as I plugged it I went, "so THAT'S what was making the sound on all of those records"!
  12. One of my younger cousins was at work on the 101st floor of the 2nd tower. Wife, two young kids, none of those people that day had anything to do with any sort of conflict in the Middle East. It took a while but I'm glad they threw Bin Laden in the drink. Say hello to the fish for me.
  13. I found a good destination for a motorcycle trip: https://caseknives.com/pages/zippo-case-museum
  14. If you join the Buck Collector's Club (BCCI) you'll get a pretty good discount from Buck with their Pro Program. The discount far outweighs the $20 annual membership cost. The process is join the collector's club and then fill out the Pro Program application on the Buck site. https://buckcollectorsclub.org/ https://www.buckknives.com/about/company/pro-application-form/ If you're a fire fighter, veteran, etc. you don't need to join the BCCI but their newsletters are fun to read. Here's the date code chart, Sparky does have a 2005. 2022 (or maybe 2023) looks like a check mark with a downward facing tail up at the top.
  15. They say it was skin cancer that ran amuck, poor guy.
  16. Conratulations on your new acquisition. If anything ever happens to it, Buck will put on a new blade and refurbish it for $30 shipped. I sent one in I had since probably 1978 and it came back looking like new (and it was pretty hammered).
  17. He's talking about the weight relief under the maple cap. https://prosoundhq.com/what-is-gibson-weight-relief-types-effect-and-which-guitars/#:~:text=Traditional (also known as 9-hole or Swiss-cheese,weigh between 9.0-10.0 lbs.
  18. I started this thread so there would be a spot for "this sucks, that sucks, everything sucks" and keep it out of the what new music did you get thread. George Harrison's collection is coming back in print. Oh no, some of his albums suck! True, like everyone else he had high points and low points but take it here.
  19. What you see is what you get - some gloss (the pick up selector knob's reflection) but it's certainly not a high gloss. You can see I was messing with the pick ups, I put the bridge back the way it was after the pictures. WTH?
  20. Thanks, it's an improvement over how it originally came. I know I removed the knobs and replaced them with Speed knobs, I think the pick guard came off, I left the pick ups in place. These photos don't show it but over the years the pattern in the wood started to come through. Not a fancy, figured top but there is some there.
  21. By popular demand (one request), here's my 2005 ES-335 Satin, polishing done with Virtuoso Cleaner and then Virtuoso Polish. Polishing done by hand, it took a few hours.
  22. This is a thread where you can post your likes and dislikes for people who actually have recording contracts.
  23. Maybe we need a new thread, Music Reviews.
