  1. I just got an offer from a Nigerian Prince and a Western Union Money Order is being FedExed to me at this very minute. Strange how I have to send him the overpayment of $20,000 but I guess they do things differently over there. We eat tonight!!! Seriously, I'd have to be really hard up to sell this guitar. It took me 11 years to get another one and I've played it pretty much non stop since I got it. I now remember why I missed it so much. Picture a cross between a Lucille and a Firebird and that's this guitar.
  2. This is one butt ugly guitar. Woof.
  3. I'm with mihcmac and hold the pointy end inwards. They seems to last forever and are cheap enough.
  4. Keep the case AND the truss rod tool? Sell the case to RCT, I know he's got a case fetish and this one is a beauty. Let me sleep on it.
  5. That's a number I don't think we can get. Testing is only accurate for how someone is doing at that moment. This area is acting like it was here and gone, never to be seen again. I think they're nuts and they probably think the same about me.
  6. If you pick up shipping and do PayPal Friends And Family I'll let my 2007 GOTW Explorer go for $50K. It has new strings on it and comes with the original case. P.S. I'm keeping the truss rod adjusting tool.
  7. Brucebubs, How's that 12 string? Have you compared it to one of Guild's top tier models? I really like the J40, it's the only one I've played that I like as much as my particular HD-28V.
  8. It takes a while to die from it so there's a lag between number of case and number of corpses. My wife made a good point: it doesn't stay with you forever (as far as we know) so the new cases really are new infections, not old ones which increased testing is uncovering. We're up to 77,999 as of noon today here in PA with 6162 deaths. It's a terrible state of affairs and is something I hoped never to see. Good time to practice the guitar and hope they find a vaccine before the corn virus finds my hairy butt.
  9. We're up to 77, 313 cases with 6,113 deaths. No, it doesn't just go away. Yes, more testing will show more cases as it continues to spread. PA is up 877 cases in the past two days.
  10. Very nice. So when do you mount the Bigsby and P90s?
  11. Down to 19? You'd better treat yourself to something nice.
  12. What I gather from talking to my better half (who works for the local hospital system) is that they are discovering just how little they know about this virus. Our cases here are still on the rise but I guess the big worry was the hospital systems being overwhelmed, not the number of infected people. PA is at 76,846 as of noon today, my county has crept up to 1102, where those knobheads with the Liberate PA! rallies are being held are up to 1541. Those demonstrations and riots and whatnot are going to help speed up our knowledge of this virus by a lot. What do you mean, unwitting test subjects?
  13. I have no idea what you guys are squabbling about. My only point in posting it here was to say that I'm proud to own products made my a company that's willing to stand up for what's right. They could have just kept their mouths shut but they didn't, they were willing to take a stand: here is our position. Good for them. Carry on.
  14. The customer service fellow I spoke with a few days ago said they were back at it. We no longer use lemon oil for the neck, the preferred method is now a pre moistened Lysol wipe.
  15. New tuners showed up today, at least they're easy enough to install. Tuners come with the Allen wrench, my garage supplied the 11mm open end. https://www.stewmac.com/articles-and-video/online-resources/hardware-installation/steinberger-gearless-tuners-installation-instructions.html
  16. We appear to have gotten through the worst of it here in PA although this civil unrest is probably going to change things. The cities were just packed with demonstrators, I saw an aerial view of Philly and it shoulder to shoulder maybe a mile.
  17. The English leaves a little to be desired but that's the problem, that little pin (part number 32). The good news is you can buy replacement tuners on Gibson's site so aren't stuck bidding on used ones on eBay.
  18. I bought that Martin years ago, I have no idea how to contact him. I just remember it was was way the hell up in the middle of the state around Thanksgiving one night after work. Looked to be a bachelor with a modest house and a room evidently packed full of guitars. Get paid, run to Nazareth and buy a guitar, work, repeat kind of thing. I used to work with the guy who was the president of the MUG or a local chapter or something, he was really into them. I have one, that's enough for me. I'll see if I can't locate him again. If I do I'll send you his contact information along with the guy who used to be head of their repair department, they should be able to help you spend every penny you've got and then some.
  19. You guys should have gone with me to the guy I bought my HD-28V from. He goes, "I'll be back in a minute" and around 10 minutes later he locates the guitar, it had the model number written on a piece of blue painter's tape on the outside of the case. He goes, "Sorry to be gone so long, I collect Martins"... However, they sound terrible hooked up to a Marshall so one of those is enough for me. Today was take a vacation day, sleep and play guitars. Restrung the Flying V with 11s and rediscovered that you sit with these like you would a classical guitar. This one is not going anywhere if I can help it. There's really nothing about this guitar I don't like or would change, it just needs a lot more playing time as it's basically brand new (open box special). The neck on the SG is really thin. I'm glad I didn't buy that Gary Clark I was looking at as I understand the neck is even thinner. I'd feel like I'm playing a piece of uncooked vermicelli. There may be additional SGs in my future, just not $6000 for what's basically a plank of wood. The good news is today NO tuners decided to snap in two or go all wobbly and become totally useless. It's a miracle!
  20. Interesting design - the TP-6 is built into it. I've never seen one of those, I like it. Does it stay in tune well?
  21. That's one of those what are they, crazy? type of items. So much of the guitar market is that way, I can't see it but I suppose there's a market for those kind of items. Won't be coming home with me, though. I could find 3 or 4 really nice guitars for the price of that one.
