I'd like dollar for everyone who disagrees with this, but I'd leave the guitar on a stand or inside wall (not above direct heat) hanger for easy access, and let it acclimate to the seasonal changes slowly over time, absorbing and shedding moisture naturally. Chasing guitar hydration, except for use of whole space room units, is a zillion dollar business for what amounts to guesswork.

Economists are saying hold off on big buys right now. I've often not followed this advice in the past when it comes to guitars, based on the swap-out factor if I need to back peddle. In the vintage world, I think the re-sale move is much harder in the current financial climate.

From a guy who can't finger pick...good players make good noise on any good guitar, so I never look at it in that way. The wider string spacing and smaller bod make the L generally easier to handle for me, and the tone is relatively mellower and a little less woody. Are you shopping vintage?

It's a yes or no question, so, yes.

Honestly, any quality string, in keeping with variations in your hearing and expectations, will produce the special tone of that level of J. You'll likely be very happy with more than one set/style.
