  1. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. It's really unimpressive that Gibson can not supply a drawing for this bass. As Rabs alluded to earlier, I spend some time and money getting the Rippers, Grabbers and G3 basses back on the road and into the hands of players. Unfortunately I have never worked with any of the Ripper 2 basses. If the bass were here in front of me I'm sure I could get it working properly in no time. If you would be interested you can send me the pick guard assembly and I would be glad to fix it for you free of charge. It would allow me the chance to take some notes on a wiring system I haven't had the opportunity to put my hands on before. It would take me about a week to get it turned around and back to you. I understand if you're not interested in sending the guts of your bass to random internet guy. But my offer is honest and I'm not a hard guy to track down. Clint Searcy
  2. You're not at risk of blowing anything up by hooking something up wrong.
  3. Sorry. I just can;t tell off of those shots.
  4. Hold on a minute. I'm going to try and do a screen capture and below the image up and see if I can tell where it was originally soldered.
  5. I'm 90% sure I could fix it just by looking at the lugs and seeing which one looked like it had been connected before. It's only one connecting. But I'm used to looking for such things.
  6. Oh boy. Well the 2009 Ripper 2 is wired differently than the originals. This can be tricky. We need an official 2009 wire drawing.
  7. Never touch up your nitro finished guitar with model car paint.
  8. Just try making your point without being a total ****** bag. That would help.
  9. Best Buy has one of the best return policies there is. If you don't like it just take it back in 14 days. If I was sure I knew this was the model Les Paul I wanted I wouldn't worry about buying if from Best Buy any more than I would worry about buying it from Sweet Water or eBay. But I thought they stopped selling Gibson a few years back. The one near me used to sell my guitar strings for a great deal but they don't carry them any more.
  10. If you leave the pick guard on you won't notice the dent in the finish.
  11. I think they are beautiful. It's a deal I wouldn't pass up if I knew my wife wouldn't kill me. 😳
  12. Thanks for the update. I will think twice before buying any more Tronical products.
  13. This is one of the other songs I have to play. Not too tricky.
  14. My friend asked if I would back her up at a benefit show for the east Tennessee fire victims on the 16th. I said yes thinking I would be playing bass. I just found out I will be playing guitar. I haven't gigged with a guitar in 20 years so I'm learning this.
  15. If this were true then you would be able to reproduce the effect of mushy out of tune power chords by taping an altoids box to the head stock.

    Auto Tune??

Internet trolls use the same phrase to describe the Gibson GForce and MinETune systems in an attempt to cast them in the same unfavorable light as autotune.

    Auto Tune??

My intent is not to start an argument. I don't believe you. LP would be rolling over in his grave seeing this. What are your thoughts? Robot Les Pauls were around before Les died. He never expressed any negative thoughts on them and was rather famous for his fondness of high tech. Me, If you can't tune a guitar maybe you should play the keys. I think you would have to be profoundly stupid to think that self tuning guitars are bought by people who can't tune a guitar.
  18. The static pops from the finish will go away if you'll just play the guitar a while. No need to sand the finish off the guitar. Capsmaster has already explained this. All the other little buzzing and humming will go away with a noise gate.
  19. Playing guitar means dealing with noise. The more gain you like the more noise. The more vintage your taste the more noise. Buy this... less noise.
  20. It's possible. The only Gibson I have that has ever had this issue is my 2015 SG. It changes with the humidity in the room.
  21. The static issue is called Nitro Cellulose. It doesn't like dried out winter air. Every Gibson guitar uses the same Nitro finish. No other guitars you are playing in the store use it. In the summer the problem will be less of an issue. Take the guitar back and buy an Epiphone. problem gone. As for the other "grounding" issues.. Well, ground issues can't cause feedback so don;t trust the word of who ever made that diagnosis. Good Luck!
  22. I tried to tell you guitar players were silly.
