  1. VOX + Gibson = winning team. That's all I have to say for the moment.. will be back soon... (have homework with some AD30 settings... hehehehe)
  2. Welcome to the forum! stop by the "post your les paul pics" thread and post some of yours! Hey elessar820 were you the one who changed his bfgs configuration? first time i like a bfg man... dont know why gibson didnt make them like you modded yours (you should sell your "mod", i know a lot of guys would pay for doing that to their bfgs)
  3. hey man maybe a pick of the guitar would help us figure out what kind of bridge you have there... did you buy it new? what year is it?
  4. Thats the worst of it... i dont have a lot of patience, but i really love this job, and well it feels good to take them out of ignorance and help them learn theres more to life than knowing how to play ONE dream theatre riff (most "recording" musicians here are under 25 and know the same riff from the same dream theatre song, and think thats all there is to know).
  5. Oh yeah... Hollowbody=epiphone you got that right... dont know why but gibson hollowbodies never did it for me, but epis do... (not that hollowbodied gibbies have anything wrong)
  6. I havent seen one either... but there was a time when epi made this strat type guitar... not their best i know, but it wasnt their flagship either. That said, i have a very good oppinion regrading epiphone les pauls and SGs, have owned both (les paul standard, custom, even this special II, and G-400s). I think they are top quality for the price, wouldnt buy one if they costed more but at the price you can find them at, its like you can own a color for each day of the week. Of course i wouldnt go so far as to compare them with gibsons (er even say they are better as some guys do) but they are good. Dont know why a lot of people look down on epis... they are just fine.
  7. Today a guy comes to the studio and stares amazed at my modded epi (she shines more than my gibson for obvious reasons (standard faded)) and asks me details... i explain its a modded epi and he says "epiphone... they are like "fake fenders" arent they?, you know... cheap versions of real fenders" To keep it simple I tell him: no they are licensed and very good lower cost gibson guitars, you know, like mexican fenders are to amercian fenders (didnt want to go into the squier thing as for me epis are above squiers)... Guy says (after scratching his head for a while): no, i read somewhere that they were cheap copies of fenders... i even read fender bought epiphone after a lawsuit or something". LMFAOROTF! never got to explain him in detail what an epi is as we were a little short on time (f"ckn a-hole showed up at the studio an hour late and the people paying him was very upset, glad it was them that insisted in working with him). Half an hour ago the session was going exectly nowhere... so i grabbed my trusty Gibson Les Paul and did the job myself (free of charge as the whole song was like, 3 chords and a small and slow lead after 2nd chorus). The good stuff: - Another happy client - Another "i can play a gazzillion notes a minute" boy bites the dust./ Please dont tell me they are indeed buying epi! hehehe](*,)
  8. why does this guy answer his own posts as if they were another persons' ? with that description and the lack of pics im sure its a fake
  9. Hi, I play mostly metal too... and i would suggest you play a lot with both guitars before investing on emgs for your new les paul. Maybe you will find useful to have two different sounds, the les paul you have should sound very nice, even for metal. I think my les pauls pickups arent as hot as the ones that come in the vintage mahogany (mine is a standard faded with burstbucker pros) and they deliver for metal, so yours should too. I use a moded boss metal zone into an AC30 from vox, not what you would call a metal amp... and the guitar and pickups deliver even better than the one with emgs, and gives me also plenty of tonal options when i want to play blues or even jazz.
  10. If you put some emgs there your LP will sound as close to your ESP as it can. Do you want that? I wouldnt buy a LP (or any other guitar with such a caracteristic sound and history) to put in some pickups that would take away all the tone. I do have EMGs in one guitar, the Zakk Wylde set i put in my 15 year old epi piece of crap. It improved the sound 1000% but if i compare it to my gibson, the gisbon, simply put, has tone. And lots of. The emgs sound allways the same...
  11. ...wow you guys DO know a lot about this marvelous pieces of wood... i learn something everytime i log in to the forum... and Raptor, reading your signature i can say you are a very lucky individual...
  12. yeah, schallers are better, i use them in all my guitars and have never failed me, also they look really good.
