  1. Happy Turkey Day! This time targeted 157 degrees instead of the USDA 165. Way better, way more tender.
  2. When conversations with friends have to do with the force of your stream and the character of your bowel movements. And memory as I'm sure those have already been said.
  3. In the 70's when I was a full time guitar player and was branching out from The Beatles and Johnny Winter, he was my biggest influence. Think I watched song remains the same 5 or 6 times at the movie theater. He was pretty prolific early on. Great stuff.
  4. Thank you Larsongs for your service and music
  5. Thank you. Dad was an Air Force lifer. Today means a lot.
  6. Here is what I found for the set list he played. Seems correct even with my deficient memory. Star Cycle You Know You Know (Mahavishnu Orchestra cover) Midnight Walker (Davy Spillane cover) Stratus Big Block Rumble (Link Wray & His Raymen cover) Caroline, No (Brian Wilson cover) Brush With the Blues This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr (Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp cover) Isolation (John Lennon cover) Time (Dennis Wilson cover) Cause We've Ended as Lovers (Syreeta cover) Interesting: Syreeta was married to Stevie W. Interesting note about Cause We've Ended as Lovers: This song, dedicated to guitarist Roy Buchanan, was composed by longtime friend Stevie Wonder as an apology to Jeff for releasing "Superstition" first. This is what Beck is referring to in the liner notes on the back of the album when he says, "thanks to Stevie." What's Going On (Marvin Gaye cover) Little Wing (The Jimi Hendrix Experience cover) The Death and Resurrection Show (Killing Joke cover) A Day in the Life (The Beatles cover)
  7. Agree. His hair was jet black and he still has a lot of it. I told my wife that he has to be pushing 80. I just looked it up, 78. Looks great. Exactly. My wife's comment underscored that
  8. That's about right. One thing about the venue is that they serve alcohol now (my wife and I abstained for 3 weeks until last night). One bad thing about alcohol is I get drunk, sometimes too much so, like last night, and some of the details from the later part of the show became fuzzy.
  9. I can see that. I listened to Blow by Blow when it came out when I was a teenager. Maybe back then I really wanted to like it even though it wasn't rock like I was listening to at the time. I listened so many times it became iconic to me. Absolutely love it. Other than that just watching him play was so fantastic. Youngish woman playing drums and bass (not Tal).
  10. What can I say, it was Jeff Beck. Johnny Depp was the singer. My wife loved that part and he did a good job. Jeff played 2 Strats, both white and one and upside down Hendrix version that he played a few songs on including Little Wing. At one point my wife said, "Wow I didn't think you could make a guitar sound like that, like strings in an orchestra". I said Yep, he can. Played Cause We've Ended as Lovers and You Know You Know. If you get a chance go and see him.
  11. Don't get me wrong I'm not so sensitive that I don't find making fun of stereotypes of any sorts funny. I also still laugh and propagate fart jokes. I just didn't get what was funny about the OP. Then I had to go off and blame my inflated (for this thread)sensitivity.
  12. I know that. Duck Wong wasn't. Maybe it was a reference I missed or maybe I'm sensitive, my wife is asian. She get's asked frequently "Where are you from?" She says LA. No where are you really from to which she replies, "Fullerton". Sometimes she plays the game and says OK my parents are from Korea.
  13. I don't get the joke. Duc Dong, Vietnamese, would be funny but Duck Wong just sounds like a Chinese restaurant. I do live in LA however which makes something like this common.
  14. An Arkansas wife confronted her husband when he came home, "You know what? I heard you were a pedophile!" The husband replied, "Well that's a mighty big word for a 13 year old".
  15. I do restrict carbohydrates. Lots of good options now including plant based meats (impossible burger etc) if you are inclined. Erythritol and monk fruit is really good and no GI upset. Real non processed foods avoiding sugars and starches are the way to go. You can even have wine (2 grams of carbs/glass) or alcohol (0 carbs) if inclined. Myth about wine and sugar. The sugar is metabolized into alcohol and alcohol is metabolized by the body like fat, not sugar so much less if any insulin release and no fat storage or production. A bit of wine and exercise and no smoking is great way to raise your HDL. I have high cholesterol and serious heart disease in my family history. I take Lipitor and eat as above and my numbers all dramatically improved..
  16. Similar experience. I was 4 and my older twin sisters were so excited. My entire family watched the show in our little TV room. It was a monumental societal occurrence. I too hadn't seen the colorized version.
  17. I realized I should have referred to them by name rather than breed. The larger slightly older female in the front is Blossom (all of our pet names begin with a B and I'm not sure why), and the younger is Benji A.K.A. Buddy. Like 2 little Leopards running around.
  18. Here are our 2 Bengals. They are really great cats:
  19. I resemble that remark
  20. Sounds like trip on a couple of levels :-). CCR, Beatles, and Grand Funk were my biggest influences early on. Would love to have seen them.
  21. When your prostate biopsy comes back positive.
  22. Saw Elvis last night in Thousand Oaks. Great concert. Complete and pleasant surprise was Nick Lowe as the opening act. I wanted him to come back onstage when Elvis did Peace Love and Understanding. Didn't happen but it would have been great.
  23. All I could get are nose bleed seats but we had to go and looking forward to it. It's my friend's 60th birthday and we will celebrate.
  24. Going to see Elvis Costello Sunday with my best friend and keys player. Just scored tickets for Jeff Beck in November! Thousand Oaks is really coming on strong!
