Fretboard Oiled =P getting the neck oiled wont do much' date=' only make it a bit sticky. If you lemon-oil it personally, dont leave the stuff on too long, as it can make the wood go all soft, and cause the frets to come out =/
And when buying polish. Remember to ask if its [b']Nitro Safe[/b]. Or you could take the finish off.
Any more questions then Just ask. However in the terms and conditions you must post pics after you have done somthing to your guitar. Or Else...
Ive read the terms & conditions And ill be sure to add more soon. I was planning on getting it setup, but after restringing, adjusting the string height, and playing it again. Im not sure if I want to get it done, but im still having a hard time tuning it and keeping it in tune, so either way im going to just have it done and over with. Anyone have any ideas that I could try before having someone else do it? Thanks!

So I got it cleaned up a little bit last night after work. Still needs some work though, but I figured at least I am starting on it now. I called around a few places as far as getting a complete setup. I just want to know what to look out for when trying to find a reliable person to work on my guitar. Most of the places are close to the same price, only real difference was the turn around time. Any suggestions? Thanks again, and I really appreciate all your help.

Get a good bottle of polish on it' date=' and scrape the gunk off the fretboard with and credit card, Lemon oil it, Restring (maybe check the setup as well)
And your awesome guitar is even awesome-er[/quote']
Thanks for all your help everyone. And I will be sure to post some pictures after a good cleaning. I think the setup is fine for now but I really want to get it in and have the truss rod checked out and make sure the neck is straight. I am getting a little fret buzz on the high E around the 15-16th fret. Only when I really bend the string alot but I plan on putting a thicker gauge string and get the neck oiled and body polished. Cant wait to get some pictures up.

Yup. I live in Mesa but work in Phx. You can see how this guitar has accumulated so much grim from doing only one or two jam sessions outside here in AZ, and not servicing it in a few years.

Built on the 117th day of 2000' date=' so that's the end of April, eh?
Has it ever been painted?
There's some pretty deep dings that I don't see raw wood in - like they were painted over.
Not positive, just curious.[/quote']
Nope, no paint, its been untouched since I bought it late 00 or early 01, cant remember when for sure. There are a few dings and paint scraps. But I know where they all came from, im not to worried about them thought.
As far as the paint goes, what you see is what I bought. Besides the obvious dirt buildup over the years. I just need to wait for payday and pick up a few supplies get some new strings on there and give her a good scrubbin'.

It is an SG Special.........has an ABR-1 bridge and looks like an ebony neck.
You think I might be close as far as the age goes? Early 2000's?

Indeed it does, It was at a friends house where we can actually play loud for a couple months and it needs a serious cleaning now.

I bought this guitar back in '01 and it has done me no wrong the entire time. But I just had a few questions regarding the neck finish on mine. Its ebony neck, with an ebony body. I'm just not finding this combo anywhere on the Gibson site as a finish option. Not sure of the actual age either. I have a few pictures here and on has a serial number if that helps. At least I think I'm pretty sure its a SG Special.
Thank for any help you guys and gals can give.
