  1.  The Gibson Johnny A is a fantastic guitar.  It's hard to fathom how a guitar like this and it's case could be separated.  The cases were made by TKL. The earlier cases had the green lining and faux alligator covering and were a product of the TKL USA Custom shop. The later models were more of a standard TKL Canada Gibson case. I would guess these are a unique size but TKL should be able to steer you in the correct direction. I have a 2007 Johnny A Signature and it came with the earlier faux alligator case. Either way your will have a great guitar. Good luck with your search and let us know what you find out.

     Thanks John

  2.  I remember playing a L-4CES that had the same pick up covers. It was a L-4 Custom Shop model and possibly a NAMM guitar with a pearlescent white finish. All the gold metal parts were engraved as shown. I know this doesn't help but I will never forget the guitar. Pretty cool but a bit fancy for me.

     Thanks John

  3.  My dad was a Ford guy but I eventually overcame the handicap! I had a couple1962 Ford Thunderbirds then a 1966 Olds Toronado then finally it's been Dodge trucks and cars for the last 45 years. From a 1937 Dodge 1/2T to a 1969 Dodge W300, with 60 some trucks in between.

     Thanks "Power Wagon" John

  4.  I hope you know I was just joking Hype.  If you want a ES-355 TDSV you should go for it. As I said I have a 2009 ES-345 and I really like the guitar. I sometimes use the stereo with two of my amps and I use the Varatone quite often, esp. in my buddie's studio. I call it my analogue modeling guitar. Several great players made very good use of these features.

I sold my Les Paul when I got my dream guitar, a Gibson Johnny A Signature. We only go around once in life.

     Thanks john

  5.  Will the Murphy Lab, break the neck and re-glue the headstock back on?   Imagine how much my 1969 SG Std. is worth! Even less than the Steve Ford model.  I will have to stick with my ES345 in walnut.

     Thanks John

  6.  My ES-225 T is not for sale so your point is moot. I never had any feedback problems but I don't use it for anything high gain, after all it is a hollow body guitar not another Les Paul. I am actually installing a staple pick in the guitar, no modifications needed.

My point was to the OP question that at this point his guitar is a used guitar and probably as unique as my ES-225, so I don't think a small defect that was original to the guitar will affect it's value much. We still want photos.

     Thanks John

  7.  On a unique model as yours I wouldn't think it will make much of a difference. after all it is a used guitar.  I have a 59 ES-225 that is marked as a second because of some cracks in the top ply of the laminate and is not structural.  It didn't make any difference to me. We would like to see photos of your guitar.

     Thanks John

  8. I picked up a nice used 2007 Johnny A Signature a couple months ago. It has got me covered for Christmas and my birthday on Feb. 14. It is a great guitar, especially as i have it dialed in just to where I want it. Plays like a dream and sounds great. I am a very happy guy. I hadn't bought a guitar for 4 or 5 years. Now amps are a completely different thing, I seem to bring a couple a year home. Thanks John

  9.  I didn't even know who Johnny A was when i first tried out this guitar. But he is a great player. As I stated in another post I just picked one of these up by chance at a good price. after installing a Bricks Biggs Fix and a soft spring I can not believe what a great guitar this is. My other guitars are very jealous. You can buy them a lot cheaper than on Reverb etc.  You just have to keep looking.

     Thanks John

  10.  A few weeks ago I picked up a 2007 Johnny A Signature guitar. I have wanted one of these since I played a few new ones 15 or so years ago at Dave's Guitar. Back then there was no way I could justify buying one of these but times have changed and I found a great deal on a nice used one. The guitar is as nice as I remembered it but there was a very sharp break angle between the Bigsby and the ABR bridge. So much so that the bridge was leaning towards the pickup and the posts were slightly bent. I ordered up a Bricks Biggs fix and soft spring from the great guys in Alaska. What a difference this has made in the playability of this guitar. The guitar had been in the case for approx. 4 years so some dialing in was required along with a new set of  .011 Ga. nickel wound strings.

This is an amazing guitar with the  solid slab mahogany back and sides and the carved arch flame maple top and 2 57 pick ups. It has a super comfortable mahogany neck with ebony fretboard and a 25 1/2" scale. Not to forget some serious bling. The guitar plays so nice I can barely put it down and it has not been back in the case since I bought it as I play it every day. It sounds great through every amp I try it through. I can not believe how luckily I am to finally own a Johnny A, with my wife's full  encouragement.

I wonder if they will ever make these again. I tried to load photos but they are too big.

No Gibson hater here! This thing is perfect.

     Thanks John

  11.  I have not done many pick up changes in my guitars, I usually play them the way I bought them.  One of my only exception to this rule is a pair of Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers in my 1991 Les Paul and I really liked the change.  Seymour designed these with Seth Lover who was the original inventor of the Gibson PAF humbucker. These are supposedly made exactly the same and wound on the same machines. But pick up makers all say the same thing!

     Thanks John

  12.  I installed a Bigsby  B7 on my 2009 Es-345 using a Vibramate. It worked great. Not only did I avoid drilling any holes in my guitar but it raised the Bigsby high enough off the face of the guitar to make the bridge break angle perfect for smooth  operation of the Bigsby and keep the guitar in tune.

     Thanks john
