Hello! Restring her up and play her to your heart's content. She may not be a top of the line guitar, but she is a very nice guitar. Long after you have learned to play, and long after you have started collecting other guitars, you will still find that you love to play her!
Before you put the new strings on, give the guitar a good cleaning and put some lemon oil on the fretboard. Make sure you wipe all excess lemon oil off, you don't want to get it on your strings. Get a "just damp" cloth and wipe out the inside going through the sound hole of any dirt, dust, cobwebs!
Enjoy! And congratulations on your future as a guitar player!

Did it mention the year where you saw this? Just wondering.
Thanks by the way' date='

Jind, no they don't list a lot of info on each guitar as they deal in used gear.
The store it is in is closed so I called the Boston store and they show that the guitar sold today - of course! It was only $120 and listed in GOOD condition.
But I'll keep my eye out - I usually do!

EDIT They have a couple of other Epiphone S-types. Have a look:

Peter, I forgot about that flaw.

Hi
Can you let me know where you got your "keys" and factory letter/number identifiers from please. I'm in dispute with someone I bought an Epiphone Dot from and they refuse to take your post as a reliable source. I feel that they say this as your post suggests that what they sold me as a Korean model is in in fact a Chinese one' date=' as denoted by the 5th and 6th digits of the serial number being 15 (full serial number is 08121501484)
Thanks.[/quote']
You can go here and put the serial number in.

Congratulations, Joe! Looking foward to the pics!

Thanks on two counts. I had a look at the guitars in the link...really backs up what Musikron says about hi E-by-G that it is real heavy and well built (hopefully some nice wood in there and no particle board...recent thread...eek) the guy in the link says 9 1/2 lb
Just nice to see some examples of these E-by-G's out there. (I have just thought of name for my new addition tomorrow. The "EEbeeGeebee" )
Thanks Sheila
You're Welcome and You're Welcome!
The rest of us will just call her Eebie!
Have fun with her!

Sheila are they yours? . . . The whole purpose of this thread is to to concentrate on the 1986-88 Sherris and try and make sense of the serials and see if there are differences with later Sherri's weight etc....
Don't I wish.
I posted these three pics in response to the earlier post in regards to the question of the 'E' in Epiphone on the headstock. Just providing other guitars to compare to.
The one you're getting . . . beautiful!!
Sheila
BTW the first two pics are ones that are for sale. No i have no connection. I just really like this guys collection of guitars. He has WAAAAAY too many for one person (if that is possible!)!

The only part you've missed is that if I raise the bridge' date=' strings height would make it feel like a cheap acoustic guitar setup. (I mean I need to put my left hand fingers upon the strings, not under :)).
Otherwise I think you've got it. ;)
I'm actually modeling the whole bridge unit in 3D so maybe it would be more understandable.[/quote']
But by raising the bridge to meet the string, you wouldn't be raising the string. The bridge is too low. Just raise the low side up to meet the string and try again.

Thanks for the help man!
Is it hard to replace the nut ?
Nope! Just did the same on my Studio which had a broken neck. Just knock it off, clean the glue off and glue one on. Pretty much it in a nutshell, just go at it with a little less laisse faire than this post. It really is not hard to do, just do it with love.

Well I ordered it in February. Sweetwater didn't call or e-mail to see if I still wanted it' date=' and there was no record of it my SW account, so I assumed it had been cancelled. Sorry if I don't seem thrilled, it's just that it's October now and ever so slightly anticlimactic. Maybe I'll be more excited when I get it cranked up. [/quote']
OK, NOW I understand. Hope she floats your boat and rocks your world!

is that a "quasi swear word" on the tag attached to the handle ?
As a child, would have received a backhand had I said it, so Yup! Quasi-swear word!
-
It came today from Sweetwater while I was out. Good thing they didn't call in adance' date=' I would have cancelled it.
But it's here now so I suppose I'll have to at least check it out...[/quote']
What did I miss? I thought everyone was excited about the Seniors?

HER NAME IS ABBY >_< and thanks guys for all the responses. helped alot. :D
Her name is Betsy, we've had this discussion!!!

I believe CE stickers are applied to electronic equipment to indicate it meets certain requirements' date=' much like the UL stickers here in the States.[/quote']
Thank you, jerrymac! I knew they were on other things, and I used a best guess.
Oh, and God, icantbyafender is right, you can't change the name once you named her. It's bad karma! Betsy is a solid name. You can use Abbey on the next one!
Enjoying her?!?
-
betsy' date=' no lol im kidding, i dont know if i will name her but we shall see =p[/quote']
Too Late, Betsy it is!

Hey God,
I see you watching this post and I'm still not sure what it is you are looking for. Originally you asked what is was worth and where made. Those have been answered. As far as what the original owner paid for it, well - did any here buy one in '96 and do you remember what you paid? God, you could probably do a bit of research to see what the MSRP was at the time, but it never sold for that.
As far as the stickers go, well that CE sticker shows up on all sorts of things, so I'm thinking it has something to do with Customs and Excise?? Feel free to correct me as I truly do not know for sure. The other sticker with the HS - absolutley no clue.
To reitterate: The guitar is worth what someone would pay for it: you paid $200.00, would you have paid more? It was made in Asia.
And no matter how much you love it, the LP was made, not born, there is no birth certificate nor birth parents to hunt down.
But you can still name her!!
-
oh no i definatly baught her to enjoy and play for for the years to come. and i dont plan on selling her at all. i just want to know if i got a good deal' date=' or if i was ripped off. i got her off craigslist so i wasnt sure.[/quote']
$200 for an Epi, she works fine and you enjoy her? Sounds like a solid good deal!

I've been watching ebay for weeks for Juniors (lost over half a dozen auctions but still trying). The standards, unless there someething special or Custom, have been selling around $300 - $400. Take a look, and select a few that will be ending soon and watch them. Don't go by the Buy It Now price, go by what it sells for. That should give you a basic idea. Of course, your guitar, unless it matches exactly, may sell higher/lower.
An Epi Black Beauty with 3 pick ups sold for $418.00; a Silverburst for $265.00. Neither had anything wrong with them (I was actually going for the Silverburst but lack of funds stopped me at $240.00).
Question to ask yourself, did you buy the guitar as an investment to be sold, or because you love it. If the later, who gives a crap what it's worth to someone else!?
She's very pretty, enjoy her!
