  1. My 1961 SG RI. Just a KILLER guitar. A pleasure to play, goes from chiming bell-like, melodic tones to a face ripping snarling growl. I LOVE a set of good P90's and I really think these stock P90's are amazing
  2. Hi, I have one of the Epi 1961 SG reissues in Alpine white, and I absolutely love it. Flat out killer guitar, and the P90's in it can go from beautiful melodic tones to paint peeling roars. However, I think the wrap around tailpiece is a very weak link in the chain. I want to replace it but not sure what will fit it. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. The bridge in question: And some pr0n (who doesn't like pics of guitars, anyway ) Thanks in advance! Oh, I was looking at either this one: From Stewmac or this one:
  3. Just got an Epi Wildkat and LOVE IT! I had a Gretsch 5120 that I bought a Compton compensated bridge for and was wondering if I could fit one of those on the Wildkat, if anyone knows the stud post spacing, it'd be really appreciated. I can find out later tonight, I'm just at work and curious. Thanks!
  4. I'm on a semi-hunt for one of those vibrola's... I really wanted a FB with one, but it was way over my budget.
  5. I ended up swapping out the pups for a SM-1 in the neck and an SM-3 in the bridge, WOW, what a difference. I tend to like a more vintage tone and this nails it. Love this guitar. Absolutely love it.
  6. After a few months, I love it even more. It's almost gotten a 'broken in' feel to it, the neck feels faster, and it seems to REALLY like 11's with a wound 3rd. Still love it.
  7. I have to admit, going in, I was afraid the ceramic pickups would be too brittle sounding, too harsh, too high gain. I was worried for NO FREAKING REASON! Just ran it through some riffs, cleans, dirty, really, really dirty and it went from A-Z and back again without skipping a beat. One thing I didn't know, is that the tuners are in the reverse order of a Strat or Tele or other 6 in line tuners I'm trying to tune the low e, and fiddling with the high e tuner. Anyway, tuned it up, the intonation, the fretwork, the craftsmanship is everything I hoped for an more. It's a different beast, that's for sure, it hangs differently and the neck feels MUCH longer than an LP neck, almost a bass scale. Plugged in the Blues Jr, nice and clean and it sparkled, it chimed without any of the harshness I was afraid of (I already had pup replacements figured out). Popped on the compressor, hit the MXR Classic OD and BLAMMO, gritty nasty 70's tone ripping out. Pop that off, turn on the Pork Loin (another od pedal) a whole different animal of OD comes out, a little clearer but deeper growl if that makes any sense whatsoever. Oh, the noise gate has been off this entire time, the guitar is dead quiet just hanging there Upping the ante, I turn off the OD, turn on the swollen pickle, turn on the BBE Sonic stomp, and it's fuzz city, nasty, Black Keys "The Big Come Up" fuzz, and still has warmth to it. Turn that off and turn on the BYOC Leeds Fuzz, perfect. Turn the trem pedal on, and it's 1971, trippy fuzz tones, jump on the wah pedal, and Ken Kesey knocked on my door. The strings are a bit light for my tastes, feel rubbery, but that is absolutely the only thing I have to say bad about it. I have a feeling this is a long time keeper. And it is just too damn cool, the shape, the mini hums. *****IN! The grain pattern and burst are perfect, IMO. This is a little heavier than I thought it would be Onto the pics
  8. I just got the AJ500ME, and had these put on it, but I prefer a heavier gauge string, and I love D'Addario EXL115W's for my electrics
  9. It needed some minor setup work out of the box, but most guitars need some tweaking, especially acoustics, imo. This has a solid spruce top, solid mahogany sides and back, mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard, open back grover tuners, bone nut and saddle. Had it setup with 13's to get a little deeper tone, and this baby has a serious voice to it. It's got the eSonic2 pre-amp system, I've plugged it into my SCXD on channel 16, and it sounds VERY nice. Onto the pics I did a cover of Kashmir using my Zoom H2 set to 2 channel, sometimes you can hear the guitar very clearly, other times it blends in, pretty much like the original. I did several takes on this, sometimes you could just hear the guitar, other times just the backing track. This guitar can have some booming resonance. Thanks for checking it out. This is my first decent acoustic, and for the money, I don't know if it can be beat. Kashmir
  10. I believe that there are some plastic parts in the MIC vs the MIA versions. And you're right, there's very little if any difference in price, at least with the B7's.
  11. Grrtwang... grtwang... Grrtwang... grtwang... grr/grr/grr/grr/grr/grr-grrtwang = Rolling Stones "Slave" intro, in my estimation.. Bwoooow.. bwow/bwow/b-b-wow - Led Zeppelin "Heartbreaker"
  12. Well said! (he says, enabling his own desire and want for more and more 'spices'). Truthfully, not 1 guitar of mine is the same as the other. I don't have 2 LP's with 2 buckers, I have 1 with a p90 in the neck, mini bucker in the bridge, 1 LP with the Jimmy Page wiring, the 50's tribute, a '72 thinline reissue, a '72 custom deluxe I refinished and wired myself (TV Yellow), a Dot Studio modified with 2 GFS Retrotron Liverpool pickups, Bigsby, 2nd tone and volume knob, Casino, Gretsch 5120, Fender Blacktop Jazzmaster, and a tele copy I just picked up with a P90 in the neck and a Seymour Duncan mini 59 in the bridge.
  13. Best of luck. It's as hard or harder to kick than heroin, and you don't need to help the profits of a multi-billion dollar corporation while sacrificing your health. And keep that positive attitude!
  14. I talked to some semi-catatonic customer service agent at Amer. Airlines, and they said as long as it fits in the overhead it's good. Here's hopin'
  15. I'll be flying out to my parents house on Saturday, and will have many hours of downtime while I'm out there. I was thinking of taking a tele apart and fitting it into a carry-on bag, has anyone here done that? My biggest concerns are the bolts and the strings. Worst case scenario is I ship it. I just would prefer not to ship something at this time of year. Especially a guitar. I do not have, nor am I willing to buy a TSA approved guitar case.
  16. Like I said, 'by the minute' :P
  17. Wow, this is subject to change by the minute I don't know enough about amps to know if a Tophat is better than an Orange or HiWatt, etc. So I'll make it really simple The Vox AC30 the Beatles used, the Les Paul that Page played, the Strat that SRV played (not his, but an exact replica, down to the string gauge), the current pedalboard of Dan Auerbach and that should make me pretty happy
  18. We're a scared, confused group of citizens. Hope this helps the answer to the question. Nipples/genitalia - Not on my primetime tv, dammit! murder/bleeding/dismembered body - Hell yes, the evening news greases the wheels for primetime tv.
  19. No female nipples, front genitalia, and a list of words that would most likely be censored here, everything above and including the word sh~t is usually censored, or just not scripted. Again, however, we can see nearly as much gore/violence/mayhem as we want without any fear of the mean old FCC. I still don't get it.
