  1. Nice! I like that color.  And those upgrades sound very nice!

I have a 1996 mim Strat, Traditional series, "black label".  I love it! Got it used for $240 in 2012. It came with upgraded tuners (fender slotted) and I put on a new nut, but all else is stock. Made of poplar. It's a very nice guitar. I will never sell mine.

    Have fun playing yours![smile]

Looks good. I prefer P90s on hollowbodies. Enjoy

    I appreciate it!

  3. Thanks!

Two volume, one tone, and a master volume.

I can't say how it sounds compared to a Gibson P90 because I've never played one before. Sorry.

I like them. They don't make a lot of noise when dirtied up, and when clean and with a good compressor pedal, you can crank it up and still get a nasty tone from them. I really like them.

They also sound great perfectly clean.

It's my first Gretsch and I can see now why so many people like them.

I have a differnet opinion on their drums....

  4. Since I've been seeing so much discussion lately about semi-hollow guitars and P90s, I thought I would show off my new acquisition.

    It's a Gretsch G2622-P90 Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut P90 with V-Stoptail - Claret Burst.

I've been seeing these for a while, when I noticed a brand new one on Reverb for 50 bucks off the normal selling price. And it was 30 minutes away, so I could lose the shipping fee.

I got in touch with the guy and asked if he would take another 25 dollars off his asking price, and if I could come by to pick it up. He answered yes to both questions. So she's mine now.

I really like this guitar. It sounds great and feels wonderful when I play it; good, low action, and nice workmanship. I took off the Gretsch pickguard because it was way to close to the high E string and I kept hitting it with my pick. Besides, it shows more of the wonderful claret burst finish. The P 90s sound great! I highly recommend![biggrin]

    back in the day......

we had a thing called "The Want Adds"  And  it's where we bought and sold just about everything that we used when I was gigging.

These days before cell phones, and all this technoid BS.  You called the number,  you asked questions, and eventually you went some place to make the purchase, face to face cash transactions.  There were no scams to worry about, and no lunatics either.  them were the days..

    BS!

There have been scams and lunatics since there were men.

Hey, that might be a good name for a band... Scams and Lunatics![smile]

  7. White guitars show up on a TV.  You guys don’t know what you are talking about.
I have a degree in Television Broadcasting and have worked as a TV reporter for a number of years.
    white is fine.
In fact you hold up a piece if white paper in front of the camera to do something called a”white balance” before shooting to make sure all the white is picked up correctly.
You see white on TV every day.

what you can NOT have on TV is thin, black and white lines close together.  Then you have problems.

But plain white is absolutely fine and always has been.
