  1. That '63 VS is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I had grabbed one when available...another of those that I thought would be around longer.
  2. It was tough seeing her go, but I'm confident she's in good hands. I'm sure I'll regret it later, but I've started taking flight lessons, and am moving some gear to pay for it. With my OCD I'll easily find another guitar to fixate on when the time comes.
  3. Great looking guitar, congrats!
  4. If the Emperor you could play feels good and you like it, I'd go for it and hold out on the Sheraton until you can actually play one and find one that suits your needs. I have an Emperor Regent and just love it...it's my favorite in my collection.
  5. Great looking guitar. The Elite series guitars are top notch all the way. Good score!
  6. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new guitar. I have a Elite Broadway and an Emperor Regent and prefer Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing 12's on mine.
  7. I've had a chance to play with it a little and it sounds incredible. A night and day difference. Definitely a worthwhile project.
  8. I made some changes to my Emperor today and thought I'd post some pics. I put on a Bartolini 5J pickup, upgraded all the wiring and electronics, and changed the tuners to Grover Imperials.
  9. I run 11's on my P93, and other semi-hollow bodied guitars, and flatwound 12's on my hollow bodies.
  10. I added a few more albums to the collection today. We made a family day out of cruising around looking for new vinyl, and then came home and listened to it while playing Scattergories...fun times.
  11. You may already know about this, but I didn't until yesterday. When I was looking for a turntable, one of my stops was the local Radio Shack. They had one turntable on their shelf, and it not only played like a regular turntable, but came with software and a USB connection to connect to the computer so you can direct capture the album as it plays and turn it into an MP3. Granted, this may be common knowledge to most, but it was all new to me. They wanted $100 for the turntable.
  12. But no, it's not a new guitar. I took my daughter out for the day and we picked up a receiver, turntable, and speakers at the flea market. And I started up my vinyl collection again with some stops at an antique store and some pawn shops...some great jazz and blues, and a few Chet Atkins LP's as well. I've got the Tommy Dorsey band playing now and I think it's just about time for a cocktail! Lovin' it!
  13. What a gorgeous collection CB! Can I come over and play?
  14. I have to agree...I did score. The guitar is immaculate...not a scratch on it. It plays and sounds awesome. I really like the tuners too, I'm glad he made the swap. Guitar Dater puts it as a 2003 model. Here are a few pics. I'm not much of a photographer, but you'll get the idea.
  15. I didn't have one of these on my wish list, but couldn't pass up the opportunity when it arose. I'll be picking it up in the morning as long as the inspection goes well. The pics look good and the guy assured me that it's in excellent condition. We talked on the phone and he sounded on the level. He changed out the tuners for Gibson Kluson style. I would have left the Grover's on, but no harm done. It's more era correct I suppose. I'll post up some pics when I get it home and have a chance to play it a bit.
