  1. Last night was OK for a BBQ and eating outside, so we did. Gael had bought a couple of lovely bits of eye fillet approx. 4" thick. I cut hers in half but cooked mine complete. It was tricky getting cooking times right but managed and they were perfect. Flat potatoes microwaved for 4 minutes then cooked on a hot plate with EVOO spray and homemade coleslaw were perfect accompaniments for the steak. I still have half of Gael's for a steak sandwich for lunch.
  2. Pumpkin & ice cream? Together? Geez you Yanks really are a weird mob!
  3. We sat out for a while tonight hoping to BBQ but a cool breeze go up so we cooked inside. Chicken mignons, corn, potatoes baked in the oven and peas. Not real bad at all!
  4. We had the opening of an art show last night and all I ate was nibbles and only a few at that. Warmed up a small pizza when I got home and shared it with Bella....she was very happy!
  5. OMG! pumpkin? Cream? For breakfast? Shudder~ Better you than me mate!
  6. Last night we caught up with friends who have been in NZ for s month. We met them at the RSL as it was the 2 for 1 night! Gael and I paid just under $20 for 2 really nice meals. I had chicken mignon salad and chips. Great value and a nice time chatting.
  7. I had to pick Kellie up and take her into town for an appointment about lunch time and before I had eaten. On the way in I felt funny and realised I was having a hypo! (low blood sugar incident). After I droppoed her off I headed up to the RSL intending to grab a plate of sandwiches but the cafe was crowded so I went into the bistro instead. Grabbed a mini parma with chips and salad for $11 and that fixed my blood sugar. Stayed there mucking around with my iPad for a while to let my blood sugar stabilise before I got behind the wheel again.
  8. Lunch was a tandoori chicken pie and roast lamb for tea. Yum!
  9. Glad it lived up to your expectations Butch! We had a slack attack tonight and besides it was too hot to cook so we belatedly decided to go into town to eat. We chose the bowling club bistro and weren't disappointed, Gael had lasagne and I chose the beef & guiness pie. There is a buffet for hot veggies and salad items which makes for a big meal as you tend to put too much on your plate, or at least I do.
  10. Met friends ( Stuart AKA Eggs from the (Epi forum) and his dear wife) at a lovely Chinese seafood restaurant. One dish was a Maquarie Perch that was bought to us to approve before it was killed and cooked in ginger and garlic. I must say I felt a bit sorry for the poor thing. Then we had a range of dishes inc salt and pepper white bait and calamari, which I really liked. I commented that they should call that dish "bait" as that is whai I commonly use those items for.
  11. Sorry but your going to have to wait until Friday to find out, but we've been on the Emerald Princess cruise ship for the last few days and all I'm goona say id " Bombe Alaska". We havent barely started to sample the delights of Sydney, and let me tell you there is plenty of good stuff to consider. Stay tuned.
  12. Everything! We just boarded the Emerald Princess early afternoon and wandered up to the continuous buffet. Very nice but mustnt overdo it as its only a few hourd till tea time and we are plannin three courses for that! Burp!
  13. I had a killer hamburger at lunch in a pub overlooking the water today....Yummo!
  14. We had some chunky pieces of Mako shark, chips & coleslaw last night. I crumbed the fish and shallow fried it. Mako is almost steak like in it's texture but lovely and almost on the top of my favourite fish! Sharks: Nil Humans: 2
  15. Chicken snitzel with scalloped potatoes and other veggies. Mushroom sauce over mine! Probably my favourite meal the way Mrs Dig cooks it. Magnificent!
  16. We had some mince we wanted to use up last night and Mrs Dig cooked up pasta and meat sauce I had rissoles with mash and veggies, smothered in onion gravy! Yummo!
  17. We aren't allowed to own or use fireworks where I am. Used to love "Cracker Night" as a kid!
  18. That pie sounds nice!! We were in town at lunchtime so headed to the Lawn Bowls Club just for a change. There was a terrific specials board with about 15 items. I chose cheap as it was just for lunch and ordered sausages. It was about $12.50. When it came it was 2 big fat beef sausages crumbed and golden brown! There were some chips but this place had a bar where you can get a big range of veggies and salads. I added some salad items for a groaning plate (I was quite hungry!) These were the best snags I've had out for a long time and I finished every morsel.....Yummo! We promptly filled out the membership documents and paid our dues...we will be back there often I would imagine. Too full to have much for tea so I had a roast chicken sandwich with lovely local bakery bread. Then Gael mentioned we might still have enough ingredients to whip up a rough trifle...I'm in! Cut up some left over cake and liberally doused it with sherry and added a small tub of diced peaches. A small cup of jelly cut up and distributed then followed by a liberal layer of custard...Voila! Wine trifle! I'd made up a huge bowl of it with the intention of saving half for tonight, but as you can guess I ate the bloody lot!
  19. Well we were set to have spaghetti & meat sauce last night but the end came off the salt grinder and dumped it's contents into the sauce!! I had baked beans on toast~ (Oh and a nice fresh lamington....heaven!)
