  1. Looks like a swimming pool top....splash😁
  2. I saw a post from someone who had a 1975 S-1. He said there was a date in the neck pocket. Just an idea!?
  3. The white guard looks nice on it..👍
  4. Yep, it definitely was/is a J160E. It always amazes me how some of these guitars end up after a lot of years of play and bad repairs, etc. A proper bridge and saddle would be a good start in putting it back together to its former glory. However, it may play fine,as is.
  5. Agreed! I have also, long ago, purchased the nut files and have also made my own bone nuts for some guitars. Easy does it, a little at a time, and patience......makes for satisfactory results!
  6. Do you have any more pictures? It would help to see the headstock and bridge.
  7. Very cool! It seems that the tremolo circuit can get troublesome in a lot of vintage Fender amps also. When they work well, there is nothing like them.....:-)
  8. The neck pickup is a replacement. 4K reading indicates that they are wired parallel possibly!
  9. Whats going on with you, ya "old wanker"?

Have you had any news or word from GillianGirl (Karen)??? Miss that gal!

  10. Hey Anne, Did you go to the SC show? If so, how was it?

  11. Sorry, but I don't "get it"? Maybe a better pic would help. What color is it exactly? If you have only had it out of the case 20 times in six years....that could be the problem....in my opinion. The dye from the case interior could be migrating to it. You should really let the guitar "get out" more. A little sunshine does a body (and guitar) good
  12. Did you meet John and carry the guitars to him or ship them?

  13. Hey Nick, what are you thinking about selling??

  14. Nice job and effect, Rus. I will vouch for Tru-Oil finish on wood. Real simple to do well, also!
  15. Just my opinion, but that pickguard is "butt-ugly" and does not belong on a "Gibson". The following is a link to the REAL 1974 J200 Elvis guitar and 'how' it came to be. I stumbled on this while searching about a 'regular' '74 J200 sunburst up for sale in my 'neck of the woods'...I like it but I am afraid the seller 'likes it' more. I know....Norlin, double-X-braced, BUT still a good sounding and playing J200. I own a Norlin J100 (rarer) that pretty much does the same thing.....but....the sunburst 200 bling is calling my name...and associated with Elvis' custom ebony '200'....all the more special... Here is the 'story'.... http://www.scottymoore.net/ep74J200.html
  16. I think that there is much good music being made and recorded. NOT that radio stations choose to play "any of it" however! Most of the stations received in NE Carolina/Virginia simply blow 'stale air'. Not to mention all of the 'seasonal' commercials that we are inundated with...Cannot wait to get a car with a CD player....(soon)..... Hell, I may even give conservative talk radio a sabbatical when that happens I like the song as done by the old classic dude....Ray Charles!
  17. Hey bigtim! Wishing you a great birthday tomorrow. How are things in the great state of Tenn? Has been getting very hot here lately and the beach is starting to get busy. All hell breaks lose at a beach resort when school lets out...yikes!!!

  18. Could you give dimensions acroos the body (top and lower)? If it needs repairs, that will take value away of course. Are you a player or just looking to sell it?
  19. Hey Dan, I MUST admit! I am tired of his Whiney-*** attitude>

That's what we are 'dealing with' nowadays....Jeesh

  20. Hi-Jack..?.....That is what we do BEST around here....
  21. Both of your previous points and posts sound very plausible to me, ZW. This topic also reminds me of a time in 1975 that I was looking at Gibson acoustics in a Music Store and was infatuated with a discounted J45 that had dark stains on the spruce top that aligned with the braces. The salesman explained that it was "bracing shadow" and was the unintended result of some new technique involving "light-cured glue".....just another Norlin experiment gone awry ! Of course, at that time, I knew nothing of Norlin. All I knew was that it said Gibson on the headstock and I was desperately trying to afford one! Here is a pic of the J55 binding....spots like this are all around the top and back binding.
  22. I just remembered your question and curiosity of 'why'?. I simply thought it might be a 'point of interest' to you. It certainly is to me cheers, Rod
