  1. I have decided to scrap the idea of replacing the existing bridge and am having a replacement made with a bone saddle. My decision was made when removing the screws from the adjustable saddle, the bass side screw sheared at the bushing. I have wrestled the bridge off and will next remove the bushings and plug the holes. Anyone have any helpfull advice/tips on the easiest and safest way to remove the bushings?? I am assuming that they will remove from the top and have some ideas on the best way to do that.....but I always like to gather info first. I was hoping that Travis (Music Zoo Repairs) would weigh in also. Will try to get some pics of the progress up soon. Rod
  2. Looks awesome! Beautifull finish on that slab 'o' mahogany....
  3. I will definitely have another talk with the owner about doing that. It makes sense to me and would be one less step in the repair process. I think that when I finally remove the bridge I will be able to make the case for re-placing with a fixed saddle bridge. Everything else on the guitar is 'straight-up' and in very nice condition. I am trying to link another pic from the top-view Rod [/img]
  4. Hey all! I have in for repair a late '60 Gibson B25. It has an adjustable saddle rosewood bridge that appears to be original. It looks 'oversize' to most Gibby bridges that I have seem. It has pulled up and developed cracks from the ends to the adj-post holes....pics to follow. My intention will be to remove the bridge and flatten and glue the lateral cracks and them' hot hideglue' it to the top. If I cannot make that work, then I will seek a re-placement. Any thoughts or suggestions? Rod [/img]http//i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s573/retrorod53/IMG_1408_zpscc1ef615.jpg[/img]"]My link
  5. My hope is to remove the bridge and flatten again and glue the cracks, then re-attache the bridge with hot-hide glue. If I cannot get the bridge right, I have suggested to the owner that a re-placement would be necessary. Again, I will try to get a pic of the damage, Rod

  6. Hey Travis! Enjoying the pics of cool Gibsons! I have in for repair a '67-'68 B25 for a bridge fix. Just wondering if you would mind consulting me over the job? I will try to post some pics.

The guitar is sunburst in primo condition other than th "belly-down" adj wood bridge has cracked and pulled up from the rear to the crack joints which extend into the adjustment...

  7. Now that is what we all hope for !.....GOOD customer service....Cheers!!
  8. Very nice-looking SG there, CB! Hope that Gibson would just send the part to the dealer for you. That would be the correct thing to do, especially since the 'acknowledge' a faulty batch! Rod
  9. Hey Sloop, how is the upcoming sale coming along?

If its not too personal....what are the circumstances of the owner selling off his collection? Just curious...

  10. Hey ArchA-

A little too rich for my blood I'm afraid! You may want to consider consigning them with one of the major dealers. They would get more exposure and interest that way. Buyers that are looking for prime examples and spending big bucks want the assurance of authenticity and documentation when making such a deal.

    Good Luck, Rod

Sorry to get off topic with personal rants. We are living through some very 'devisive' times in the USA. The president is devisive and has the Media in tow. The citizenry is split down the middle and this is not the America that I grew up with.

In all honesty, I wish I had the power to heal the whole world of ills.
