  1. Picked up a road case for my Deluxe Reverbs. Not sure if it's a Fender product or what. It has a Fender badge on it. Carpeted. Paid $150. Anybody ever seen one of these? It fits real nice. It looks like a eighties or nineties thing. It maybe needs some new casters.
  2. Yeah. Anything that's sold through Korg USA? - Fughettaboutit. They're worse than Mesa Boogie. My advice is to throw it out. Those guys not only won't give out schematics, they'll get you peeved at the same time. At least Mesa is purely transactional. KorgUSA is like "Eff you, eff us, eff everybody, eff our customers." I told them I'll just refuse to work on their stuff and they said fine, we're still not sending you a schematic. Now I just work on old Fenders. Anything else just enables bad behaviors.
  3. Last year I fixed two things by letting them go. My wife calls me lazy. I call it management savvy. The first thing I did was leave some old finish nails in my pocket and wash them in the machine and they got into the discharge pump. I tried to get them out but only so much. I took the tub out, put a magnet down there. There was at least one down in there that I couldn't get. The discharge pump would grind away on that sucker the whole discharge cycle every time. You could hear the racket in the whole house. My wife giving me the side eye for a year. Then, finally, one day... No more racket. Boom - fixed. I bragged for a week. Well, I'm still bragging. Then there's my electrical problem. One day, half of one of the circuits in my house went kaflooie. No volts at the receptacles and outlets but 120v back at the board. All kinds of WTF going on. Like 23 VAC on the neutral in a couple places. And then like 23 VAC, the same thing, on the unused leg of a three way switch. Like, where TF is that coming from? And there wasn't even 120V anywhere near that. Anyway, one day my wife flips one of the switches and all the stuff comes on. I flipped the same switch a thousand times and it didn't come on. Musta been a bad switch or something. I was laughing and bragging about fixing that problem and then my wife reminded me that it was her that fixed it. Anyway, good luck fixing your stuff. I got lucky.
  4. Mineral oil is made from petroleum.
  5. As an amp maker and fixer, I can report that Mesa Boogie amps have a well-earned reputation as the hardest amps to work on. That's my experience too. I will say this. Mesa Boogie is the only amp brand that I had to stop working on. Why? Because they are too complicated and Mesa Boogie never would give out the technical info necessary for independent amp guys to work on their amps. It's not like they're all that enjoyable to work on, lol. So there's an aspect of Mesa Boogie's way of doing business that Gibson would do well to abandon. You can't sell amps and not provide support for independent repair people. Otherwise, you're going to have lots of fancy amps on the junk heap. Absolutely the worst amps to try to fix. No support. I'm a really good amp guy and I won't touch them. The old Gibson amps - east to work on and the factory provided full support. Mesa? Nuh-uh! The worst. Maybe Gibson is going to support the Mesa Boogie amps now, but it's too late for me. God, I wouldn't touch one to save my life. So tell Randall to design the amps - I mean, what's there to design? - and then go home and let Gibson sell their amps with full support. Gibson always supported their amps, Mesa Boogie? No.
  6. I got the "Brothers and Sisters" book that RCT mentioned. It's a must read for Allman Bros fans. It's about the era from when Duane died until the band broke up after the Bros and Sis album. It's not all that easy to digest some of the stuff in the book. I think I'll stay off the sauce... https://www.amazon.com/Brothers-Sisters-Allman-Inside-Defined/dp/1250282691
  7. Me and the boys with ED, the electronic drummer...
  8. Yeah, they say your electrolytics will last longer if you fire up the amp every once in awhile and allow them to stay fresh. I couldn't tell you from experience, but that's what the experts say.
  9. Got some new grillcloth for my '74 Bassman 50 1x15 combo. It's supposed to be like the mid seventies Fender grillcloth with the yellow stripe. They call it 'Beige Stripe." The stripe isn't all that visible. Hey, whaddya gonna do? There's lots of vintage Fender style grillcloth now. This is a new one. Very 1974'ey... But not that great a match. New - Original grillcloth on old head cabinet -

  11. What's the reset? Some kind of revolution? Y'all are going to need some George Washingtons and Thomas Jeffersons, and all you have is George Jeffersons.
  12. Not sure why but since we started streaming our TV the commercials are super loud. I bought a new TV at the same time, and the new TV has better sound and maybe that makes a difference.
  13. Same here. Our neighbors are the best!
  14. Some people say they'd run the government like a business, but they really treat it like an elective investment. That's where the baloney comes in. If they wanted to run it like a business, they'd try to maximize revenues by growing the business. Their problem is that some of us are already experts at dealing with weasels, crooks and lunch money thieves from our experience tussling with real estate developers and building contractors. 😁
  15. Depends what your tolerance is for average tone. They spend half the time explaining the limitations of the thing. What they call "great" sounds pretty bad to me.
  16. Good on you for taking care of your dad. Happy holidays to you guys!
