  1. I bought my first Roland VG-8 in '93 and upgraded to the VG-88 as soon as it came out. I had a cruise ship gig for 12 years and I like to say digital modeling paid for my house. Nothing sounds better than a Strat or a Les Paul played through a good tube amp, but....... For my ship gig I had to play sometimes at very low volume, and I had to play many different styles of music. It really would have been next to impossible to do well with anything but a digital modeler. I'm not exaggerating at all, I got compliments on my sound every night. The Roland COSM stuff sounds really, really, good for what it is. It's not tubes, never will be, but it's versatility at coming really close to a lot of different sounds makes it a very valuable tool to have. I think you got a good deal. If you use in in combination with a Riviera, you should have the best of both worlds. TC
