  1. Hi egr if read through this thread you find feaaatures that should be able give you an idea if it is 86,87,88 it is one of those years is there a number sticker on the back of the headstock..?
  2. That is ridiculous......second hand guitars fetch a good price here in Sweden and $625 would be the absolute limit for a mint condition cased E-by-G completely stock and unaltered. I am sure and if you look though this thread you will find a beautiful white E-by-G went for around a $500....(the only white one I have ever come across) I will check that now....the Baccy Burst in the first link went for $749 and the white one in the second link for $520 Tobacco Burst E-by-G on ebay white E-by-G on ebay So your seller is living in cuckoo-land diverden.....
  3. Hi I bought mine for 2700 swedish krona $375 and I consider one of the best guitar deals I have done. Mine has a few slight nicks and knocks but nothing that stops me loving the guitar....In fact I think this particular Sheraton is all the better for it..... I was willing to pay up to $625 if in immaculate condition with a case (that would be a fair price here in Sweden...mine did not come with a case). PM any of the 9 owners listed for further info. If the one you are looking at is late 88 it may not have the easier access via the bridge route which makes these great guitars for easier modification.... Good luck
  4. It is with great sorrow and a trembling lip I have to report that JoeSamick has left the forum......... He let it be known that he wishes to spend happy days practicing with his beloved 5 guitars. He enjoyed his 6 months on the forum and now wishes to ride off into the sunset....... Therefore the E-by-G members club is closed at nine members.............. of course the thread is here as a resource to all E-by-G owners of which I am one to use as a reference. Also anyone with questions about 1986-1988 Korean Sheratons now have 9 forum members they can PM for information. Of course if anyone else wishes to takeover the maintenance of this thread they are very welcome to do so. .......................................................................................................................................................................... We have 6,861 registered forum members and have had 7,062 visits to this thread. Astounding........still only have 9 proven owners of "Epiphone by Gibson" Sheratons on this forum. 1986 E-by-G's NaturalScience2112 (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 2 (tobacco, sn:6066698)) Musikron (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 1 (natural, sn:6094580)) 1987 E-by-G's cooper (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 3 (tobacco, sn:70105418)) StevieD (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 8 (tobacco, sn:71107775)) Albannach (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 6 (tobacco, sn:71108446)) 1988 E-by-G's Toredown (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 5 (tobacco, sn:80202658)) hilleri(2) (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 9 (natural, sn:880603292) slawek (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 4 (tobacco, sn:880802010)) missing serial therefore 1986 to 1988 E-by-G's hilleri (E-by-G Sheraton owners club # 7 (natural (yellowed), sn:XXXXXXXX)...probably 1988 who own "Epiphone by Gibson" Sheratons (samick build 1986-1988) with the Headstock
  5. Hi Carverman That neck pickup is my favourite stock epiphone pickup....(did not like the pickups on my JP or the 87 Sheraton, I have a cheap Samick (not epiphone) SG and the pups on that are the best stock pickups I have run across) they are fine for me on my 89 Sheraton, I really like the stock pickups on that guitar. Also you must understand I am just comparing these against each other, with the two amps I have here, at the levels I play at...to my particular tastes and to suit type of stuff I like to try and pick out. I suppose it is a bit of a lottery and I always play clean at low levels and never had any problems with squealin or such...that neck pickup is as dry as a bone...not much wax in there I am actually selling that 89 Sheraton once I have the 87 modded and set up. Two really nice near identical guitars. Once I have the A1 fro the guitar tech with the 87 the 89 goes but just holding it as insurance until then....Just a couple of weeks now...
  6. Fly' That Rockingham is indeed a fine looking guitar......I did not fully understand why you want to try the floating bridge on your Sheraton is the bridge shot..... This thread has nothing to do with the headstock of these guitars it is more about how they are put together internally. You say there is no serial sticker....well from what we have found out on this thread if you could supply decent photos of the neck and bridge routes sometime when you have the pups out. We could possibly tell you if it is a 86, 87, or 88. Also something else that hilleri added and he brought my attention to the neck on my E-by-G is slimmer than my 89 Sheraton he mentioned that I measured and there is a fair difference. This is why this thread exists nothing to do with the headstock. You can find out a lot about you particular Sheraon by reading carefully through this thread.
  7. I tried to go to your photobucket to see some photographs of your guitars. The one you posted has a january date on it..... and it would be really helpful if you could post some clearer up to date photographs of your guitars and your epiphones in particular' date=' especially any you might own that are relevant to this thread. J I totally agree with you' date=' life's a Flying Crosbuttock then you die.....:) [biggrin] So do post some decent photographs of your guitars......or I will set Peter and Strumbone on you...........As they say "no photos it don't exist"......So show us your geets Mr Buttock........
  8. Some interesting points there hilleri especially the different necks.....I am sure that will interest a lot of people. I will have to take a closer look at my 87 and 89. hilleri seeing your friend is not a forum member I have put the other down as hilleri(2). Also those headstock differences may be able to help you date your "yellow" interesting thread going at the moment about caring for guitars "pampering" I think it is a bonus the sun got to yours as long as it did not affect the shape of the guitar... 9. Thanks hungrycat that is indeed an E-by-G acoustic first time i have ever seen one of those, I wonder if they are 86/88 Samick like the Sheratons. Begs the question....are there any E-by-G Rivieras, etc, etc out there.....

  11. StevieD Welcome to the forum and welcome to this thread....glad you found the thread useful...your guitar is same year and month as Albannach's just over the water in the Emerald Isle. You must have had a good look at the images on this thread do try and post some nice photos, now we have 3 87's will be good compare, mine is 10 months earlier. It is going to get new "fancy innards and pickups" and a full set up by a well respected guitar tech in Stockholm in about three weeks. I have not even changed the very old strings, since I bought a few weeks ago, as I want this guitar just right. Looking forward to seeing the photographs.
  12. Hi Hilleri I thought it would be interesting to just do some research into 86/88 period of Korean Sheratons. But it is pretty amazing what you can find out about these guitars and how they were made by just getting a few people together and comparing notes. Collating this thread is well worth it I feel but. I think I will call it a day when we have 10 members for each year and we can get a clear picture of the development over the period and what is happening with the odd serials which do not equate in the guitar dater. Then maybe in the future I will take all the info from this thread and create a Wiki on the E-by-G. Love or hate them they are a part of the history of the Epiphone Sheraton and that in itself is a good reason.....I LOVE MY SHERATON...........not in a biblical sense of course....
  13. great job that Albannach that image is a nice resource for Samick sherri owners it highlights the 71 mm bridge......... Hilleri..... I can see the yellowing the other photo you can see where the pickguard has been and the hardware it is natural underneath and yellow where the sun has caught it.....
  14. Yes that will do I will explain why I asked when I get a chance to take photos of my two later tonight thanks hilleri. Fine guitar......
  15. Just as a point of interest could everyone with an E-by-G post a photo, a side profile of the front "neck" pickup ring to see how it is attached to the body I think I have noticed something different between my E-by-G and my other Sheraton.

  17. Hilleri That is one beautiful Sheraton you have there. The finish on your guitar I find really attractive and the binding really sets it off. I have a feeling it could be 88 because the logo on the pickguard is identical to my 89 Sherri and different to my 87 E-by-G. I really like that guitar, if you ever consider trading for a Tobbacco Burst let me know...... I would only ever trade my E-by-G for another E-by-G and I have taken a shine to yours so beware...... So no serial, I will put it in the early 88 section for now, thanks for posting. So what would you call that finish or is it just a natural and the lighting and colour balance make it look so fine.
  18. We would like to welcome Albannach into the fold. He has a big project on his hands.... http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=14489 But when it is finished will be great to see it back to its former glory. 19. Carverman - Musikron would these do the trick http://www.tubedepot.com/6aq5.html If so then transport is my big problem....Russia is "close" to me and there are overnight ferries from Stockholm to St Petersburg....maybe the Russian mafia can source some for me......:) If I can source them I will need some tips on getting the longest life out of them, Swedes love their guitars and it is especially cool to have vintage gear, I am sure I will be able to source here......... just price. Is it a tube that was only used on amps...... did it have any other applications......... The guy says the amp is playing sweet now.......will do some research today.
  20. Thanks Carverman Once again I find your depth of experience extremely enlightening and helpful. I pick the Pacemaker up on Saturday morning if all goes well when I test it out. I like my Peavey but I never venture out of clean and rarely use the reverb I stay with it on the A setting. I am not swapping my Peavey for the Pacemaker in a literal sense. Both amps will be here next week. This will be the first time I can really check out two amps back to back. The Pacemaker will cost what I paid for my Peavey second hand and can get selling it on. In that sense it will be a straight swap. I struggle to move the Peavey even across the room. Seeing I only use the Peavey in A I think I would have been better with a Peavey Valve King Royal 8. The Pacemaker is half the weight and I have a feeling it is going to give me what I want. The reviews at Harmony Central were very encouraging. I am really looking forward to getting the amp. Looking forward to next week and getting to know the Pacemaker, I have a good feeling. Will post on how it is going thanks for all your help. Musikron and Carverman
