I can get the attraction of it all, but I don't find it all that practical. Neck resets, bridge refits, bracing repairs, cracks, et all are all part of what goes into to this kind of purchase. I have a 1978 Alvarez Yari, that I've had for years now. It's a fine guitar (D28 style dreadnaught) It is holding up well. But I know it probably needs a bridge reset in the near future which isn't really too bad, but perhaps a neck reset too. Neither of which at the moment I am planning to do. It's 100% playable tho, and it sounds really good
Keep playing it!

If my recordings sounded ANYTHING even remotely like that, it would mean that I knew what I was doing.

One word——————WOW!

Johnny Cash played two J200s. I like to see Gibson do them again.

I use Lemon Oil if I think of it (every 3-4 years…maybe). Rest of the time I use grease off of my fingers, drops of coffee, occasionally a bit of drool, and crumbs from donuts and Chocolate chip cookies, and in the summertime I add some sweat.

What the hell! No Gibson toga?

Thank you all for the nice comments. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and respond. One of these days, I’ll stop doing this hobby, but for now it’s still fun after 60 years of playing. Damn….60 years…I should be a whole lot better than I am. Still fun though.

Roger, if we’re not having fun, we won’t enjoy it. Music is a blast! Let’s keep it going.

I am impressed! With my froggy voice, I don’t even try singing an Orbison song to myself..__let alone this iconic song. Sweet job, my friend.

Good rendition of a sweet tune. You remind me of Rodney Crowell and that ain’t bad.

Real, real, nice, Lars! A very personal song. Presents a strong image of someone who is a missed and lost soul. To me, your lyrics are very strong.

Have no idea of what it potentially means for the guitar, but looks kind of cool. On my pickguards with a design, I put a light coating of clear gloss finish on them. Been doing it for years and it works well.

Did you say purple lights?…..There’s only one explanation.

Sad news. Very talented lady. Another legend is gone……….. I hope she had a peaceful death. I hope there’s such a thing.

If I really hear a guitar call my name and it’s in good condition, but needs a setup, etc, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Funny stuff! I wish we could bring back folks like Don Rickles and Joan Rivers, etc.

My kind of music. Get rid of the “boy bands” and put this on country radio. …..Nice, nice job. There’s something cool and authentic about a guitar and a human voice.

Murph, they can be a lot of fun. I’ve got a Gretch 9220 Bobtail and I fingerpick with it. Not real loud, but it’s great for folk tunes. Has a piezo in it if I need a lot of sound. I’ve learned to play some slide on it in standard tuning. Just stick with the gbd strings for chords and look for the melody notes on other strings. You’re a better picker than I am, so I bet you’d sound pretty good. Got a Bobtail Squareneck too. I like both, but once I learned how to play a little slide on the roundmeck, I favor the round neck. However neither has nasty tone of the Recording King I heard last week.

Never saw him On The Steve Allen Show. Another funny show………I didn’t realize that Zappa got that much TV exposure.

Yeah, there were. Just that I never thought Saget was all that funny. Ever.
Did you see the show on which FRANK ZAPPA was the "celebrity" guest? They couldn't even get him to grin. 😉

Man, that is a shame. I saw him at Metro Detroit's Royal Oak theater in the early '80's. Couldn't get front row, but a great time anyway. I first became aware of him from the late night show "Make Me Laugh". in the late '70's. Sure made me laugh. Lots more that another comic on the show, Bob Saget. But you know, he rarely, if ever, used his "Sledge-o-matic" shtick on that show and still cracked everybody up.
Good for you. I never got the idea of getting front row to see Gallagher and cover up with visqueen. I'd take all that splatter as a badge of honor. And maybe not wash those shirts ever again.
Whitefang
“Make Me Laugh” was great. Gallagher came out with a wide-brimmed hat and had a train or a car running-around it. Crazy guy! Several very funny people were on that show.

I think there is something in Profile, under contents. Been a while since I was in it. It also deletes your entire post, along with the pic, if i’ remember correctly. Sorry I can’t be more help.

A friend of mine recently bought a Recording King brass resonator. It’s kind of a greenish-antique color and has a nasty tone to it. I mean ”nasty” in a good way. Very bluesy. Sounds like you need a bottle of Jim Beam at your side. He plays it in standard tuning and it has a very different tone than a regular guitar. I need another guitar like I need a hole-in-the-head, but this one has me thinking. And it IS heavy.
