  1. You sound great, Buc! Really good to see and hear you again.
  2. Funny stuff! I wish we could bring back folks like Don Rickles and Joan Rivers, etc.
  3. My kind of music. Get rid of the “boy bands” and put this on country radio. …..Nice, nice job. There’s something cool and authentic about a guitar and a human voice.
  4. Murph, they can be a lot of fun. I’ve got a Gretch 9220 Bobtail and I fingerpick with it. Not real loud, but it’s great for folk tunes. Has a piezo in it if I need a lot of sound. I’ve learned to play some slide on it in standard tuning. Just stick with the gbd strings for chords and look for the melody notes on other strings. You’re a better picker than I am, so I bet you’d sound pretty good. Got a Bobtail Squareneck too. I like both, but once I learned how to play a little slide on the roundmeck, I favor the round neck. However neither has nasty tone of the Recording King I heard last week.
  5. Never saw him On The Steve Allen Show. Another funny show………I didn’t realize that Zappa got that much TV exposure.
  6. “Make Me Laugh” was great. Gallagher came out with a wide-brimmed hat and had a train or a car running-around it. Crazy guy! Several very funny people were on that show.
  7. I think there is something in Profile, under contents. Been a while since I was in it. It also deletes your entire post, along with the pic, if i’ remember correctly. Sorry I can’t be more help.
  8. A friend of mine recently bought a Recording King brass resonator. It’s kind of a greenish-antique color and has a nasty tone to it. I mean ”nasty” in a good way. Very bluesy. Sounds like you need a bottle of Jim Beam at your side. He plays it in standard tuning and it has a very different tone than a regular guitar. I need another guitar like I need a hole-in-the-head, but this one has me thinking. And it IS heavy.
  9. To my ears the G45 is a bit brighter and louder. Neither would be on my “bucket” list. Doesn’t mean that they’re not good guitars. Just means that they don’t appeal to me.
  10. Donovan truly found his niche. Very unique.
  11. That’s a very technical answer, but we’ve got a snow globe with Frosty in it and I’ll start studying it…..lol
  12. This guy goes in for a prostrate exam. The doctor says, “ Take your clothes off and bend over.” The guy says, “Where should I put my clothes?” The doctor says, “Throw them over there with mine.”
  13. If I were that dude, my next question would have been, “What are tubes?”….lol……I know literally nothing about all the different amps available. I don’t go much beyond knowing where to plug-in my mic and guitar cables………>……..Seriously, the guy on Reverb that I bought my Martin “Johnny Cash” D35 from was pretty damn sincere. Told me over the phone he bought it new in 2018 for his son. Said his son wanted to learn to play, but all he did was complain about his fingers hurting and it hadn’t been out-of-the-case in over two years. I asked him why he spent that much for a teenager that didn’t know what he was getting in to. He said he thought a really good guitar would make his boy want to really play….. The guy’s heart was in the right place at the wrong time and I was in the right place at the right time.
  14. My standard “bird” is approaching twenty-years old. I’ve used it one-hell-of-a-lot over the years. I was, for a while, actually thinking of getting a Hummingbird TV. Lots of great reviews and videos on it. However, I finally started thinking about what I would gain over my Standard. Played a couple TV models and they were really sweet, but so is my Standard. I decided to forget the newer versions (and they are great guitars), because they didn’t really offer me anything beyond what my Standard has. Besides, my Standard bird is part of me. Its scars and coffee stains are mine and I kind of like that. I’ve built a lot of my music around it and what it represents to me. Don’t get me wrong! I love looking at new guitars, but sometimes what you’ve got is all you need.
  15. If you really want it, get it……..we snooze, we lose.
  16. As far as I’m aware, all the Super Jumbos are the same size, except for the Studio models.
  17. My folk duo partner of many years had a mini-stroke and a heart attack in early August. Both were said to be on the mild side. He’s home and goes for walks and in-general is feeling real good. But, he can’t move his fingers very well and he’s very afraid of tripping on something. He says the doctors tell him the full recovery from the stroke could take several months, at least. …..Glad you recovered from yours. I’m starting to realize just what my dad meant when he’d say “It’s hell getting old.”
  18. You know you’re getting old when all these old folks have the same aches and pains that you do.
  19. I’m guessing she might have some arthritis in her hand and she’s trying to keep the hand warm. Everyone on-stage is wearing long sleeves and a jacket or vest. Most of the crowd seem to be doing the same. Might just be a chilly day——-but Emmylou can warm-up anything.
  20. I typically give trophies, laughs, and maybe a heart or two, but I can change if you like.
  21. Medicare and its various options are confusing as all hell. As suggested, find an insurance dude/dudette that specializes in this stuff. What he/she doesn’t know, they’ll find out for you. A knowledgeable agent is a necessity. My wife and I talk with our’s whenever we have any questions.……..Otherwise, it’s an “I’m from the government and I’m here to help” situation.
  22. YES!………………..Haven’t played one yet, but that won’t stop me from giving an opinion. No matter how good they might sound, I’m not interested in them. I’ve pretty much always been a traditionalist when it comes to guitars and being seventy-five I’m even more wrapped-up in tradition. If I ever play one of them I might be blown away, but I won’t buy one. I understand Gibson offering new products and I’m glad they do, but I’ve now got the guitars I need and am satisfied with then. I hope they sell thousands of them.
