  1. Don't they glue the maple cap on??? Would it surprise anyone if I told him that an ES335 that costs over $3800 uses a laminated top?
  2. Not to mention the mess with the TOM bridge,, Surely this guitar can't be in intonation
  3. Contact Seymour Duncan, they sell nice aged gold covers. As for toggle switch steel tube. I'd guess someone poor shielding attempt
  4. Any rechargeable battery not charged for any long period of time, will die and not charge. Don't start your car for a year, it won't. Rechargeable batteries should be put on charge at least 1 to 2 months
  5. Right there is a reason they're called F holes :) Now that it's in the shop and in the techs hands not much you can do but wait. But it could be a bad part or just dust, possibly in the selector switch. Toggling it back and forth a bunch of times might have cleaned up the contacts. Same goes for the pots. Anyways, don't worry about it, it's not like you snapped the headstock off
  6. You maybe new , but my point was, why would someone dig up a 10yr old post, And their reply wasn't helpful either
  7. Blame Justtryme. New account less than 14 posts and posts at least twice in this thread 10yrs old as his first couple of posts. Sounds like someone went "phishing"
  8. if you can buy it for $50 to use as a guitar in your car.. why not. I bought a $50 Academy Strat clone to leave in my car, I don't care if it's cold, hot, wet, gets dinged, bumped banged, etc.. it makes guitar type sounds during my lunch time practice. this "supreme" would be good for that as well, since it's not a 'real' Gibson. cheap clone/fakes are good for trunks of cars when you have 15-30min wait time for the wife/girlfriend/etc. shopping at the mall.. pull out the guitar, practice while waiting.
  9. You go to imgur.com create a account, up load pictures there. Post the links here.
  10. Used for Bridge pickup to bypass all controls and get pure output. Btw there should be dip switches inside back cover. Here's a breakdown of what the controls do. DIP 1: Neck pickup can be split (true single) or tapped (P-90 type tone) DIP 2: Bridge pickup can be split (true single) or tapped (P-90 type tone) DIP 3: Neck pickup treble bleed circuit (On or off) DIP 4: Bridge pickup treble bleed circuit (On or off) DIP 5: Transient suppression circuit (Spike control) for recording Neck Volume: Pull for Split or tap (depending on DIP 1) Bridge Volume: Pull for Split or tap (depending on DIP 2) Neck tone: Pull for neck pickup phase reversal Bridge Tone: Pull for Full bypass (Bridge only in humbucking mode with disabled controls)
  11. Yup old problem I use http://www.ultimatesupport.com/gs-1000-pro.html GA1000 stand never had issues with long time use Havd to look at the guitar stand info, make sure it says Nitro safe. Really a $6 stand... how safe can it be? Or cover it as stated above
  12. any store will usually give you about a 50% appraisal as they need to resell it.. but I think whether it's a prototype or not.. doesn't really increase your value unless there is a collector that must have a proto. otherwise it's just another guitar. https://reverb.com/ca/item/4220801-gibson-explorer-faded-limited-edition here is a one that is sold for $750,
  13. I didn't mean you don't need to file grooves, they're just not to any fretboard radius. TOM arch does that. From what I know, groove is as deep as half the string thickness
  14. Nighthawk, as far as I know, the TOM is arched and you do not file the radius in the saddles like the adjustable saddles for on say a Strat where you adjust for fret board radius
  15. I'll throw in the + is for the plus top... instead of the A, AA, AAA ratings I would think yours has some good flame on the top. but post pictures as Mary Pippy suggest.. besides seeing what it is.. we all love a good guitar picture

  17. all I want to know is since this is a 'rare' one of a kind Les Paul Standard Custom something or other.. It has to be worth more than other Les Paul Standard something or other in tomato soup can green that was only produced under a full moon
  18. Mr Bill 212... It's been long accepted that ALL CAPS is yelling and very impolite. The more someone uses capital letters to Express their point, the less credible they become. If they further use repeated attempts combined with things like "SO THERE...ALL CAPS", you reduce you intellectual age drastically. Even if you had a valid clear point or detail, it has now been relegated to very little. So a word to the wise, drop the capital letters
  19. Good info Pip I think Mary knows "her" stuff Or maybe since I'm in Canada that MaryJ?? Mr Bill, check out this video, its really good info http://www.solidbodiesthemovie.com
  20. take a bunch of pictures of it.. and email Greg@gruhn.com He's Greg Voros from Gruhn's guitar the head service manager at Gruhn's Guitar's in Nashville.. if he can't tell you what it is.. George Gruhn can
  21. How much gain are you using on your pedals? Pedal order, I've had some pedals that didn't like others in certain order. Noisy pedal power supply.
  22. I meant don't bother looking for loose wires. I meant removing the back cover and playing without it as a test
  23. we saw a very long running post last year here all about QC issues and how dare Gibson put out a product that's defective.. .. .. very soon you're going to start getting a lot of replies.. mostly rub dryer sheets (which are heat activated (??)) against your guitar... which you stated didn't work. next you'll get someone stating you're going to need to pull all the electronics in the guitar and cover the wood cavities with conductive paint.. I'm in Canada . have a whole house humidifier and a room one as well. my room currently is at 45%. try 2 simple things first.. 1- take the plastic covers off the back of the guitar and see if it goes away. if it doesn't try step 2 2- this being a Nitro coated guitar.. try cleaning the body with naphtha, of any polishes you've added to the guitar. naphtha is a good cleaning agent .
  24. Immoi was also missing the tip of his finger so he turned tuning down like a full step
  25. Have him pull the pickup and read the pencil code on the wood below
