  1. looks like that "line" wraps around the end of the guitar to the strap button and around to the neck heal. I would say it's a small slice of wood they added to the back that didn't get stained for some reason. I certainly wouldn't send it back because of it.. unless I paid for a solid back and top btw wood has many 'defects' aka 'features' that's why it's wood.. you will see patterns in the wood.. hence it 'passed' QC because it's wood
  2. @Mvfvette1 so sad your guitar is so unloved its tucked away in a case and not played
  3. Guess this is a " Frank" discussion of why someone shouldn't leave a tuner clipped as it will create a "headstock stain" Tune it, take it off
  4. Clean it for real , get some naphtha and a soft cloth. Does wonders for sticky gunky body and neck. Fretboard conditioner with 0000 steel wool on the neck and frets. Good to go. Yes VOS is just unpolished nitro. But would not account for sticky
  5. Really 2yrs,, umm If that was the only thing I saw 2yrs ago I would have left it then too. "This is my guitar, there are many like it, but this one is mine" Play it, play it loud
  6. What about Joe Bonamassa Amos the Famous Flying V pickups Joe Bonamassa Amos Pickup Set (seymourduncan.com)
  7. Pickups are on a 2 point screws with springs on them . Some pickup springs exert more torque.
  8. Unfortunately no Wife says I have too many guitars. I should probably get a new wife.
  9. Bad Blues Do you think that that's enough weight loss to stop SG neck dive??
  10. Thin body heavy headstock causes the neck dive Not a .001 of an ounce in tuners
  11. I don't think the guitar is adjusted correctly as noted that bridge pickup is way high Capo fret 1, hold high/Low E at 14th fret. Measure at 7th fret between 4 and 8 thou That's your neck relief Hold down fret 1, at 12th fret measure should be like 4/64 With last fret held down , top of pickup poles of the E's should be around 3/64ths or 4/64ths That should allow you to lower bridge and stop tail There are 2 trains of thought Those that say strings should not touch back of bridge, Those that say doesn't matter Which camp your in is your choice. Remember that there are 2 points of contact that make the notes And that's everything between the nut and bridge saddles. On either side of those 2 points won't make your notes
  12. I can find 10 things bad on every new car on the lot, Dealers fix build and transportation problems all the time (under warranty) and sell you the car as new. So yeah it it's just a quick warranty fix, and nothing else, I'd get a dealer to fix it for free , Than to ship a entire guitar back to Gibson just to show them who's boss. Who knows what you'll get next
  13. If all it is is the nut, Can't you get them to give you free warranty repair at a dealer
  14. Did you call over the American Thanksgiving weekend, doubt you'd get anyone on Nov 25 and 26th Aside from tons of sales, I've seen USA roll their sidewalks up during Thanksgiving
  15. Looks like it was glued together , more than binding scraping
  16. remember this guitar came new from the dealer checked and it wasn't a Murphy guitar wasn't like he was in Flint Michigan in December for a gig and pulled it out of his trunk.
  17. From what I read the original poster said the guitar was shipped to him, he opened the case and the guitar is checked. He said if it was brand new If it was used then ok for the checking. But if it was new and opened and its checked, either he needs to send it back or get a discount as he bought new
  18. Not that I'm disputing this guitar as good ,, but That's a roller bridge, granted it didn't come with the guitar, I don't think the "vibrolo" did either But I wouldn't use that as a fake argument there's enough other stuff going on, body/headstock issue. But keep using the roller bridge as a "fake" argument is not right
  19. @Twang Gang the G0 is Guitar Center designation for a 1960 R0 LP When you have as much credit pull as GC you can ask for anything, they got their own "reissue " numbers,, quite some time ago from what i remember
  20. @SG Sydney why don't you play with a strap sitting, Few grams in tuners won't help the dive
  21. Custom's Block inlays and rosewood finger board would be my first guess
  22. There was a time that Gibson started using 300k pots instead of 500k Audio tape vs linear taper. Yes volume post are audio tape, linear taper doesn't work well for volume pots Some pots are better built better . I found RS Guitar Works pot taper better than most having a usable 0-10 control
