  1. It's probably a guy from Sweetwater named TOM putting his sign on every guitar that he sets up.
  2. I guess You must want to spend 26 minutes on a guitar you don't want, because You spent and hour badmouthing it. I'll bet Your mother beat you a lot when You were a child.
  3. I make a plug. Nothing fancy, but works great. I make them out of Phillipine Teak. As far as plugging the hole, what's wrong with two sounds from one guitar? And if You don't own one, why would You care? And they do sound different plugged, and especially when amplified.
  4. I like the Montana made Epiphones too! I've been tempted to buy the Round Shouldered model, in natural finish. I probably will buy one soon before they stop making them. I just wish they would have put the Gibson Burst on them, instead of copying the rim burst from the 1960's Texan. I think if You get a good one it would be a great guitar. I am going to be adding one to my Gibson collection soon before they discontinue making them.
  5. Who cares how long they 're made. It's an experiment You knothead. Do You think they feel that they now tule the world since they put a hole in a cheap guitar? I can assure you that they don't plan on making them in January. These are a one shot cheap guitar. They probably won't make any more at all. I still have my Advanced Jumbo, and this one will go camping with me, which I stated pages ago was its place in my guitar collection. Enjoy yourself slamming Gibson, and I'll enjoy plugging this cheap Gibson into my battery powered amp when we go camping. My entire band is able to play cheap instruments on camping trips. Our lead guy and bassist play Mexican Fenders. No one who owns one of these guitars thinks that they have landed a prized acoustic. We have a cheap Gibson, and that is why I bought it. You even questioned why I would plug the hole. Because I didn't buy it for the hole. I bought it for the price. If You want to be a douschebag, don't question why people tell You to shove it. We heard Your opinion five pages ago, and You're still being a twit. I say, act like a twit, then be prepared to be called one. I don't feel insulted by you in the least. I think You're hilarious. And Your opinion means nothing to me. I bought my first Gibson in 1970, and I still have it. And I would bet You if I plugged in my holy Gibson, You would not be able to pick it out from any other amplified acoustic. I can get such a variety of sounds, it just sounds like any other anplified acoustic. And THAT is why I plug the hole. So that it can be amplified without any hollowed out tone.
  6. I wanted to have the option to cap the player port, because I installed an LR BAGGS M1A Soundhole pickup. I want all of the sound coming out of the front soundhole Zif I'm running it through thE PA or into th board for recording. tpbill was talking about a very high end custom that he borrowed at a bluegrass festival. This guitar had a great sound either with or without the player soundhole capped. I think capping the player port must be a good thing to do if tpbill sees it as a useful addition to. great guitar. SGT. PEPPER, You're one of the most negative people that I've ever seen on the Gibson board, and you are definitely not the world's leading guitar critic OR guitar expert. Now tpbill, I would definitely see him as both. To some people, every glass is half full unless it happens to be their glass. I guess what I'm trying to say is eff yoo.
  7. I have made a few caps for the Player Port. I made one for jricc and sent it to him. He may be able to tell you his experience with it. I got the first G-45 by Sweetwater, and my Sweetwater engineer picked the guitar out for me, and he had a bunch to try. I am very happy with mine. Being an Advanced Jumbo player since 2002, I have a good source for comparison. Obviously, it doesn't blow my AJ out of the water, but I am not at all disappointed with the sound of my G-45. And with the Player Port capped, it just sounds like a really good J-45. jricc and I have both chosen the LR Baggs M1A Soundhole pickup, and I 'm very happy with the amplified sound with the Port capped. One thing bout mineis that it has the look of being Quartersawn. I took it out of the Gig Bag expecting to see that swirly Walnut grain that You usually see, and mine had vertical straight vertical lines all the way across. I thought that perhaps this could partially account for the pleasing tone of my G-45. I would be interested in hearing jricc's experience with the Player Port capped. I sent his almost fitted, but it needed a little sandpaper work to fit it to his liking, because that takes more time than just cutting it to the "almost fitted' shape. My theory is that Gibson made these guitars to get more Gibson acoustics on the racks in the stores after any closings or craftsmen losing time at work from Covid. Considering that it's their biggest opening for a line of Gibson acoustics ever, they must have saved thousands of man hours by making these of a simple design, and skipping hours of work for each of these guitars. If my guitar souded like a piece of cheap dung, I would say it. But I have to report my experience after hours spent playing my new Gibson, and this will be the last Gibson that I own. I'm old, and I will sell all but this G-45, and I will leave itto my Goddaughter, who has been playing the 70's Epiphone Japanese dread that I enjoyed for 40 years. She guards that old Epiphone with her life, and only her boyfriend or mike night friends of hers are allowed to play it. Like this inexpensive guitar, that old plywood Epiphone has amazingly good sound. Inexpensive doesn't automatically mean crap.
  8. I bought mine for a camping guitar. I have a great Advanced Jumbo that I bought new in '02. I just wanted the least expensive Gibson 45. Mine is really a good sounding guitar. It doesn't have the finished sound of my AJ, BUT every time we go camping I'm borrowing a guitar to play. Now I don't have to borrow one anymore. It's a super plain guitar, but I will never buy a Takamine, Breedlove, Taylor, or anything else. I play Gibsons, and that's why I bought it. I am going to buy a 1934 Original Jumbo, but we have. big campout next weekend, and i finally have a guitar that I can drop or knock it over, and just say, "Oh, well". That's all tht these guitars will ever be. Something to play.
  9. To make the pattern, I laid a piece of paper over the Player Port, and shone a flashlight through the front soundhole. Then I just traced the pattern by following the edge of the light shining on the paper. I'll make you one out of the Teak, because the color and even the grain match.

  11. If You want, I can cut one for you. you will need a piece of sandpaper to make it fit perfectly, but I'll be glad to send You one like mine out of Teak. You will just have to sand it for a perfect fit. Sanding takes more time than cutting it, but I'll send You one that's very close to fitting.
  12. I'm making a cap for the Player Port out of 5/4 Teak. I just have to get it finish sanded into an airtight fit. The teak, unfinished, is almost exactly the same color as the Walnut. I may cut a coutour to fit the body's curve, but I think I'm going to send it to Nichols Inlay to have something inlayed into the cap. I already have a Nichols Truss rod Cover with a Grateful Dead Steal Your Face inlayed into it. I think I'll have something Similar done with the cap, maybe a Dead skleton. Anyway, this G-45 is a good sounding guitar, and my other Gibson is an Advanced Jumbo. Just wanted to let You know that the Port can be neutralized with a little work. I'm putting an LR BAGGS M1A into the guitar, so I wanted to make sure that I could use the pickup without any weirdness from the Player Port. This guitar, although plain, is a very well fitted Gibson. I'm getting pretty old, sonI may cut back to just the G-45 within a few years, and i think it will be all I need. I'm very happy with the sound of this guitar.
  13. I couldn't tell You exactly where. Kind of all over I guess. But, I've seen the J-45 called a "workhorse" guitar in hundreds of articles and internet discussions. I don't have a J-45 and never have, so I have no skin in the game. A lot of folks call it a "workhorse", although it has never pulled a plow or wagon into town.
  14. I can't post pictures here. I'm 62, and I'm computer illiterate. Apparently my pictures are too good to post them on the forum, and I don't know how to change (reduce Megabytes) on them. The video on YouTube is my guitar, not just another one like it. Again, this top is amazing, and the guitar is MINT. Also, the gig bag is beautiful and VERY protective, but the hardcase is pretty sweet fir $50. You will LOVE this guitar. The YouTube video gives You a great idea what the tone is like, but with effects, You can get any sound that You want out of this beautiful guitar.
  15. Also, mine has P-90's that sound great. The YouTube video of my exact guitar shows how great these P-90's are.. Just do a search for St Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster. This is a KILLER guitar, and I truly hate selling it. The top is amazing as is the sound. It is 100% MINT, WITH A MONEY-back guarantee. I've been on the Gibson Acoustic Forum for a very long time. On eBay, I have 417 perfect transactions, with no reviews less than 5 stars. I will gladly give You my info if You're interested. Even if You don't want my guitar, St Blues guitars are worth three times the money that I'm asking. Build quality is fantastic on St Blues guitars. Clapton, Joe Walsh, and many other greats have played St Blues guitars. They're that good.
  16. I have a St Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster in natural Quilted Maple. I love it, but I have to sell it to pay medical bills. It's $750 with St Blues Gig Bag, or $800 with hardcase. Shipping is $50. This is an AWESOME guitar. I have a Jerry Garcia Wolf sticker that's been on it for few months, but it isn't hiding a thing. I will gladly remove it to post a current picture. The Quilted Maple is nothing short of incredible. I have had four new Gibson Les Pauls, and none of them have had build quality that compares to this guitar. It' just incredible. This guitar is 100% MINT. I can email pictures if anyone is interested. And for bluelake07, that is MY very guitar on that YouTube video. The P-90's are absolutely killer. Search "St Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster", and the video of my guitar is 2:35 long, and my Uncle is wearing a Black T Shirt with White guitar pictures on it. I just don't know how to post a link. my email is daryljohnson60@yahoo.com
  17. I've been playing AJ's since I bought my first new in 2002, which I still have. Funny, but I've never had a problem with the tuners at all. Tunes right up and stays put. Do You stretch Your strings when You install a new set? I guess they could put out bad batches.
  18. They could have donated them to school music programs. Really kind of stupid. I thought Henry was gone?
  19. I really like my Gibsons. I just take a polishing cloth and lay it under my arm, or wear a long sleeve cotton shirt. If the polishing cloth has a sewn seam aroun the outside, I cut it off. It may seem like a little too much worrying, but I have always gotten top dollar for my guitars. They are also easier to sell. If they open the case, and it' gleaming, they are more likely to buy it. I have never had a guitar fail to sell if someone comes to look at it, so it must work.
  20. As long as we're talking about I,Q., You do not "Say Your Peace". You actually "Say Your PIECE". Just sayin'. PEACE
  21. I have been playing my KALAMAZOO KG-10, (Same as an all-Hog Gibson B-15). It came from Gruhn' with the ADJ bridge with the original Rosewdood saddle. I have always wondered what a bone saddle would do. I just received a Bone saddle from Philadelphia Luthier's today.I used the same strings before and after. I took out the metal plate, because the bone saddle was tight. I gave it a fewswipes on the sandpaper, and left it tight. I just set the screws at the original height, and pushed the saddle down to the stops on the screws. All I can say is that I'll be leaving it right where it is. Between the boneb and the Mahogany it sounds noticeably more alive. The lows are louder, and the highs are ringing. All in all $20 well spent.
  22. I have more fun with this GA-5. I bought it from a guy who bought it for his really old Dad, who was a jazz guitarist. He upgraded a bunch of the electronics, Put in an $89 Jensen speaker upgrade, and this amp absolutely KILLS! I got it fo $300 shipped and for me, it's the best deal ever on guitar equipment, and I have gotten several steals on my guitars and amps. My GA-5 is one of my favorite posessions of all time. I will die with this amp in my studio. I found a guy who had some original 1950's Jensen Chicago speaker stickers. It gives it even more vintage mojo. If anyone needs one, I have one more for $8.
  23. Here it is with the pickguard. Personally, I prefer mine without. That's the cool thing about Les Pauls. There's something for everyone.

arlum-I'm watching The Grateful Dead Live from Soldier Field on Pay Per View tonight. What a way to spend Independance Day! Bob Weir is playing a beautiful ES-336 identical to Yours. That guitar looks AWESOME on stage! Nice choice that You made there. I want one!
