  1. Hello all, CAn someone tell me the difference in scale length and nut sizes from the AJ500 to the EL 00? Thanks
  2. I have a DR 500M. And I love it more everyday.
  3. Thanks again Morkolo You're right about the bridge spacing being more important and the fact that there is no info about. I too enjoy picking on the DR series but the EFRA is just such a good looking guitar that I can't stop imaginingg what it would be like to play. No stores have it in stock in France so I will just have to be patient and try one out when the opportunity arises.
  4. Thanks for your reply. With regards to the ears I am happy with the way my DR is maturing however I was more thinking fingers when asking my question. Does the slighly wider nut much much of a difference for fingerpicking techniques??
  5. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE OWNS OR HAS PLAYED AN EF MODEL OF THE MASTERBILT RANGE. I HAVE BEEN LEARING ALOT OF FINGERPICKING MUSIC AND WAS WONDERING HOW THIS GUITAR WOULD COMPARE TO MY DR 500M? THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR REPLYS
  6. i have checked out frets.com on nuts and will look at my guitar asap and see what i can diagnose. will get back. thanks for the tip.
  7. thanks vomer for the reply i don't waggle the neck to be honest it just seems to go out of tune. i would love to solve the problem as it doesn't make me want to play the guitar and i don't really want to sell it either. what shouid i look for at the nut end? what would cause it to go out of tune?? Ti TI the tuners are original how could they be a problem and what could i do to fix it??
  8. I have a EA250 and love the feel of the neck for playing but it goes out of tune really quickly. It has the tremolo bridge but is missing a screw and spring for the arm. I have been thinking of putting a trapeze tailpiece on it. Would this help with the tuning??
  9. yeah congratulations. good job. as you said the minimal expense was counter by a valuable learning experience!
  10. looks like a texan as well in this video.can't say what type exactly maybe some of the more experienced bretheren can confirm either way.

    AJ 500M

thanks meanstreak neck tension and pins i could cope with but i guess a nut change would not be something you do often. i imagine you try and decide if you are going to stick with a certain gauge of strings as to avoid major set up factors as this one no???

    AJ 500M

question for calico (or anyone else for that matter) what specifically do you need to change in your set up when going from medium to light gauge strings?? i have a DR500M and go from light to extra light without making any changes. except playability and tone it doesn't seem to me that i need a different set up?? look forward to learning something here

    Gigs

Well I've finally crossed that boundary. Played in front of a real crowd of a hundred parents, kids, friends , my wife and two of my three children. It went great. What a buzz. I envy you guys who do it professionally or on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to the next time. I even sang. Wow wonders will never cease. I will try and post some photos when I see them. Thanks for the encouragement.

    Gigs

Well I'm doing my first gig this friday night. Not really a gig, but after my first year of real lessons and two years of playing, the music school is doing a concert for friends and family. We have the "fete de la musique" each year for the start of summer. I will be playing my DR500M N and the pieces I will be playing are Signe, Don't think Twice and a unnamed blues rag I got the net. Wish me luck.
  17. you can still get the EF500R and EF500RA in VS gloss finish, but you have to buy in germany. They look great but the asking price is 780€.

    EL00

The serial number on this guitar is SW060708## (last two numbers blacked out). Could at least know the factory where it was made??

    EL00

I'm looking at buying an El-00 here in france. The guitar has a "used" sticker on the back of the headstock and the last two numbers of the serial number have been blacked out. The seller says this is because it was end of stock instrument from the US. Could anybody give me some info here if this might be true or not. The guitar looks authentic and in perfect shape. Also how does this short scale and narrower neck compare to a "3/4" size guitar? Thanking you in advance Ozigor
  21. Brian Can't get the videos working Can you post a link please?
  22. thank you i suspected as much.
  23. Sorry to hijack this thread but I was looking at the BLUE RIDGE line and they talk about short scale and " large lower bout of 16""...... I understand the short scale but can someone explain what they are talking about when referring to the lower bout please?? ozigor
