  1. Totally get it! Thanks for posting—I don’t know the song, but now I do. What a great fit—you, the git, and the song! The alchemy is magical. Bravo!
  2. Nice!! I like the added verse alot, and I think your instinct there was spot-on. One note, fwiw: I often lost your lyric at the tail end of some lines, which is unfortunate because you packed them with good pay-offs. Dunno if capoing up a fret or two would do the trick, or if saving up some breath so’s you don’t swallow those lines is feasible. Either way, just a thought... Good job!
  3. Cool, Sal—you just keep ‘em coming. 👍🏻😂

Just came across this 1.5 hr interview from Feb 2019. Nice way to spend some time on a stay-home Sunday. Enjoy. https://www.cbs.com/shows/cbs_this_morning/video/xJkNYYPHtZODvw7RvxMTxLtEOHpBkV3Y/john-prine-at-home-with-the-songwriting-legend/
  5. Ah, you do know how to do it. Thanks, Sal. And yea, stay safe and don’t go viral! ❤️

Guth, I am right there with you, thinking also of the mystical connections we have with our music and ones that bring it to us. It’s worth the pondering, for sure. Thanks for sharing yours.

Like so many here, I can’t imagine what the last 45 years of my life would’ve been like if I’d never known his songs. I sometimes think he’s changed all our DNA along the way. “Wait awhile, eternity...” Indeed. https://soundcloud.com/anne-rachel/christmas-in-prison

I heard on the radio just now that Fiona Prine tweeted today that John’s condition has been upgraded to ‘fair.’ That’s third-hand info for now, but let’s hope it’s so.

  10. I did so enjoy that, Buc. Masterful, yes, but mainly just flat-out lovely, all around.
  11. Nice to see/hear from ya, Mark. Sounding fine!
  12. Awesome, Sal—you sound great! Keep ‘em coming, please...
  13. Nice to hear and see you, John. Thanks for share—fine job, right there!
  14. I enjoyed that, David—very cool! 👍🏻👍🏻
  15. Never mind the sage advice, but yer edgy commentary’s what’s been missing. Oh, and yer freakin’ music!
  16. Unusual these days, but yet another song has arrived, this one prompted by a beach walk the other evening. Equipment-wise, I have only my Rainsong and phone along on this annual sojourn to the SC coast, so everything is a bit rough. But the song itself, I think, seems very close to done. Have a listen...or feel free to skip! ☺️ Thanks... https://song.space/3ttjgx

    New song

Thank you for the listens and comments, gents—I truly appreciate it! Forty, I won’t be playing it on the old LG-1, as I let it go just over a year ago. My 1930’s Kalamazoo (modified with an x-brace) is my go-to for that small-body, old hog sound (unless one day the right 12-fret tuxedo finds me), so I decided to release the LG1 back into the pond for a chance at a new life. It was a smooth, if sad, parting, but I parlayed it, eventually, into this 14-fret Rainsong Parlor, which gets me through the winter months and lets me leave it in the car. Last month, I dragged it up to Illinois and never brought it inside—single digit temps the whole 3 days. When I next opened the case—still perfectly in tune. Now, I’m at a South Carolina beach for a month, and it’s laying directly in the morning sun. No worry. As advertised. Anyway, thanks again, all, for taking in my latest. It sure is nice to hear that it hits the mark I thought it hit, too— 😉 A

    New song

Hi, all. It’s been awhile, but I’m managing to keep a hand in, despite being a bit out of practice. Nice to know the songs still come... on occasion. Have a listen, if you like... (plucked on my Rainsong parlor and quietly recorded with iphone and Music Memos. Hope to give it proper treatment later this year.) https://song.space/3b4gcg Cheers! Yer old pal, Anne 😉
  19. Wow. This is fabulous, Sal! And that is all.. 😘
  20. Nice, Lars! Yes, your vocals have improved incredibly. (Well, it’s not incredible, really; you’re proving that hearing, then singing, tone intervals are brain muscles that can be built up.) And, it seems to me that your songwriting is getting more focused and efficient, which also shows that working on a thing has its rewards. Impressive all around—kudos to you!
  21. Agreed! “Good times never stop in this drive-thru town” is a great line, for sure. (You do good with a prompt...not sure if I’d be up to it.) Nice job, David
  22. I like it, Lars!! I agrees with what’s already been said—and I like “first takes” quite a bit. As here, I find they often capture the delicate intimacy of the birthing of a song. Sure, there will be rewrites and performance-related choices to follow, but...there’s nothing like the early take, when the song quickens in your hands and you know it’s its own being now. As for the “Please, please, oh please” bit, I like it, but may I suggest (and reiterating the “less-is-more” point re words/syllables) you follow with something like “...don’t let me be too late,” which would be enhanced, too, by the “countdown” that David reminded you about? Fun to share the journey, Lars.
  23. Not long ago, I had a dream I came to your house. (Probably after Dan posted those great pics.) Maybe a bunch of us should come over, help you hold down the fort? 😕
  24. Seven short years later, she found her serious groove...
  25. In a grand co-writing experiment (which is more fun than the law allows) with the guy that recorded and produced my CD project a couple of years ago. Going thru our toolboxes at our first working session, we shared odds and ends we both had laying around. On my way home, one of his lines rattled around in my head, and by the time I made it home, a verse had been born: “I wrote a blank check for your love when your eyes first met mine They say you can’t buy happiness but I could go broke tryin’” We met a couple of times since and eased out most of the rest—we’re 95% there, I think. As I said, it’s a fine experiment, so we plan to continue. And that’s what I’m doing these days.🤓
