  1. Everyone should have something like this in the gig bag for the time when that tube amp fails. I've never had to use the spare yet, but I'm sure it will happen eventually. I carry a little micro Hotone head just in case. But these little Class D amps can really hang! Cool build. No volume adjustment?
  2. Very pretty with all those right angle bends! Interested to hear what you think of those Toneriders.
  3. Making some Baby Fat boosters today. I haven't been making these lately, but our boy Doug (Karloff) makes his sound so good that people from Maryland keep ordering them. At this point any orders I get from Eastern Maryland are people who've seen Doug play, so I Decided I'd better make a few to be ready for the aftermath of Doug's next gig. Also thinking I might start getting these boxes done professionally too - like the Juice Box and Big Toe enclosures. Painting is just a pain in the a$$ to me. Made a couple boards for the LPB style booster that I haven't made in a while either. This is such a simple but killer sounding circuit. And I must recommend one of these resistor bending tools (see pic above) to my fellow DIYers. This is a vintage one my brother in law found, so I'm not sure if they are still made, but it sure makes bening resistors to a certain span a lot easier! Works for capacitors too.
  4. Yeah that was cool. Those KEXP vids are great. This one knocked me out. I had never heard them before...
  5. Thanks for the Strat porn, Rabs. Someone's definitely been a little sloppy with the solder in there in the past.
  6. I know, right. How about that wall of amps? There's another video where he sets up in a field at some festival and just crushes it. I'll try to find it.
  7. Rory also had a unique niche. He wasn't playing blues - but he was. He wasn't playing rock - but he was. His songs were like no one else really. He was unique, and that's not necessarily a good thing as far as the music "business" is concerned. On a related note, imagine if Rory's first album broke in the US the year after SRV and Texas Flood. I think once the white boy blues thing was reignited by SRV, Rory could've gained a lot of popularity here. Just a thought. Not that it matters now.
  8. Really enjoyed both of those clips. And thanks for the back-story, Pip. I can't imagine Rory in a setting other than the trio.... Rory + Gerry + any drummer = awesome. What a master of the Strat. He could really coax tones out of it. Interestingly it looks like Super Reverb amps in the backline not the AC30 with which he is so associated. Still sounds like Rory though.
  9. Two words for you.... neck pickup
  10. You're a master of restraint, a monk or something, I would've had that sucker plugged in the second I walked in the door!
  11. So screw the paint... how's the sumb!tch sound, Rabs?
  12. Looks like a fun guitar to work on. Looking forward to seeing those gut shots. Can you do us a favor and measure the output of the pickups whilst you have it on the bench?
  13. Hmmmm.... I looked and the stuff I ordered is 2.54mm (or 1 inch) pitch. Didn't even know that was a thing, since I've always used turret (or printed circuits). Always so much to learn!
  14. Well I ordered some perf so that I can finally take a shot at building a Tonebender from those parts you sent. I know I could do it on turret like I normally do, but I wanted to try something different. I'll keep you posted here - most likely cuz I'll need help.
  15. Doh! I prolly ordered them from somewhere and forgot about it then. Regardless it sounds amazing. I'm diggin' it. I do need to get around to making a Tonebender out of the parts you sent though.
  16. This is four-knob (late 60s) Fuzz Face clone I built a few years ago. I thought it sounded amazing with the silicon transistors I had in there, but today I finally got around to popping in the AC128s that our resident fuzzgod Dub-T-123 sent me a while back. D@mn! Just D@MN! It sounds like GOD through the JTM45. I'm in heaven right now!
