Nice guitars, all 3 of them. I'd just be guessing on the SJ. Those tuners have me wondering. Hope to hear it soon!

Good Luck, Dave. I think jedzep covered it just right.

Well done.

The Standard. Amen.

I play mine more than any of my other guitars. It just happened.

Hey E. - is it the looks or the sound that caught your interest?

62burst - I have just recently parted with the Honeyburst Bird. The only custom order quilted maple guitar I still have on hand is the SJ-200. Both those guitars were done by order with the help of the guitarstrummer (once on the forum) and Paul at the Music Villa. The G.C. Bird, I think they called Heritage finish.

In 63 there were 1453 made at 25.5 scale, per True Vintage Guitar.com. That was enough research for my curiosity! The short scale maple Bird I have was a 90ies run for Guitar Center in Cincy. I walked into its sound unsuspecting and was taken by it while window shopping.

Good idea ^ look forward to the result, , , and would more than like to hear your guitar.
As a hot-blooded admirer of both square short scale hogs and long scale maples, this combo has been on my wish-to-try-list for quite a while. Not easy to find though.
See my edit please. *As I have said before, wish I had the computer skills to post sounds and pics, but just never got in early enough to learn much on the computer.

The 90ies quilted maple Bird I own is short scale, if that means anything here. I haven't done any research on the 63 scale, but I think I am going to do so just for an answer! edit: True Vintage Guitar says 1453 at 25.5.

I understand.

I have a rosewood SJ and mahogany J-45, each with with red spruce tops. The torrefaction process is evident in the crisp sound and increased volume of each. Whether it is good or not so good is up to the ears of the player. I'd like to give an affirmative since I paid for them, but I would like even more to have paid less for each without the process!

Takes too many woman/man hours, re: final cost.

That is a Norlin era (big bridge plate, double x bracing). I wouldn't buy such without playing. I own a 74 SJ that I tout as very playable. But, not all Gibsons from that time measure up to snuff. Lots of the Gibson acoustics from that time and construction sound dull to say the least.

It is ..... ok, the longer I look and listen.

Just searched my string box. Something told me to look. I have (2) unopened three set packs of ThroBak round core phos bronze lights 12-54. They are Elgin series. They read as manufactured ThroBak Vintage Choice Strings 800 Monroe NW. Grand Rapids, MI. 49503. So, I have six sets of the round core Elgin series strings I have never tried, or just can't remember trying. That sounds bad for either the strings or myself! Why isn't a set on one of my guitars? Did I maybe have another 3 set pack and try them? While something told me I had ThroBaks, I can't remember ever trying them. But, all day yesterday I thought it was Friday, so that explains a lot I suppose! Ahem, and all that stuff. Anyhow, over the weekend, I'll try a set on either the rosewood SJ or J-150 and see what I think. Still can't believe I knew I had the strings, but can't remember ever trying them. edit: the sets are sealed, but just checked the mailing envelope date. It is 4/25/16. Therein exists another test.
