  1. Many thanks for all your replies, as Bigtim suggests, "something to think about". I am quite surprised by the weight of those newer Classics, considering they are weight-relieved, my old Classic Antique weighs between 7 and 7.5lbs.
  2. I should have mentioned that shortly after buying the Traditional got an R8, so the Trad became redundant. I've had it from new, so I suspect it's not going to grow on me. Beautiful guitar nevertheless.
  3. I have a 2014 Les Paul Traditional that I never use (it's actually like a brand new 10 year old guitar, the only thing I've done to it is remove the pickguard). I've really taken a fancy to buy a new Les Paul Classic because of the sound options, particularly the out-of-phase option. I know some people would think trading the Trad for a classic is a backward step, considering the Trad has a solid body and the 59 tribute humbuckers, so I thought I'd ask the wise people on here, would you do it?
  4. I'm currently working on Romanza, Spanish Romance. Here's a young Lady doing a particularly appealing rendition. Mine doesn't sound anything like this yet but we live in hope๐Ÿ™‚
  5. Sorry to hear about the loss of your wife John, I hope you find whatever you need to make you happy.
  6. Impressive rig, enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. The Midnight Special channel on YouTube has some great music videos, a real Gold mine.
  8. So sorry to hear about your loss Phillip but I'm so glad to hear that you've found a way to bring joy back into your life with your new Les Paul. Best wishes for your future and so glad to see you back.
  9. That's correct, the out-of-phase will only work with both pickups engaged and the volumes of both pickups roughly at the same level. The 'out-of-phase' means one of the pickups are out-of-phase with the other. Nothing to worry about, everything is as it should be.
  10. Great, you've been educated, it won't be long before we can get you to spell colour correctly ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. It sounds like a knob problem, I'd be inclined to take it back and swap it for another one.
  12. The Alan Parson Project Turn of a Friendly Card Delux box set looks interesting ๐Ÿ™‚
  13. At some point Epiphone will become Gibson's biggest competitor.
  14. I tend to agree with you on this, although Joe is an incredible guitar player, he doesn't seem to have his own style, most great guitar players you can recognise who it is from one or maybe a couple of notes but with Joe it could be anyone. I used to buy his album, and I went to see him once but I doubt I will do either again.
  15. I'm by no means Jimi Hendrix, well I'm by no means Joe Bonamassa ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. Absolutely correct, if it was any good they would have produced some. That really is the ugliest guitar I've ever seen. Gibson (and Fender) are stuck in the past due to their great history, every viable guitar shape has already been done, you can't reinvent the wheel, only tinker around with it.
  17. Sadly Steve Harley, front man for Cockney Rebel passed away this morning. Cockney Rebel was known as a rock band without any guitars in their early days, thankfully a deficiency that they later rectified. Steve Harley RIP
  18. Imagine the fun when it comes to re-string it ๐Ÿ˜„
  19. Has anyone got any 'old' music that's largely been forgotten about, then you hear it for the first time in ages? Here's one that I heard today.
  20. Sorry to hear that, 63 is too young. RIP Jim
  21. My J15 is rather on the bright side, thats what I like about it but I do find the string make and type have a big influence on the sound, Elixir ones seem bright and clear sounding. Great guitar, I'd never sell mine. Mine was produced on the 6th of March 2014 so it's nearly its 10th Birthday๐Ÿ™‚.
  22. My Wife doesn't want me to buy a Telecaster, she's happy for me to buy Gibson's but not Telecaster's, she says she doesn't want anything that ugly in the house. I often wonder how I manage to get in ๐Ÿ™‚
