When you found out you had the lyrics all wrong.....
IanHenry replied to duane v's topic in The Gibson Lounge
I imagine this has probably been posted before but it's pretty relevent to this thread: -
Does anyone else have a guitar from the year they were born?
IanHenry replied to JasonKnows's topic in Gibson USA
My Wife bought me an R8 for my sixtieth birthday, does that count? I don't think she'd run to a real 58 Les Paul! -
It's funny that you should say about yong people and HiFi. Vinyl sale's have gone absolutly crazy with yong people (at least here in the U.K), but they play them on the cheapest crappy Record players and they thinf they're getting the true vinyl experiance.

Would a Historic Gibson make you sell your Standard?
IanHenry replied to golfnut's topic in Gibson Custom
It's down to personal choice really But I have a 2014 Traditional (which I think is pretty close if not the same as a 50's Standard) and a 2014 R8, that I bought after the Trad and honestly the Trad never comes out of it's case, essentially it's a brand new 8 year old guitar, it still smells new, but every guitars different so only you can tell. -
Yes, in retrospect I wish I'd named the post differently, I didn’t mean to show any disrespect to Jon, he must have a lot of talent otherwise he wouldn’t still be doing what he does. The vocals on the live clip were pretty bad but anyone can have an off night, and I certainly can’t call anyone’s vocals, you really don’t want to hear me attempt to sing!

Differnt one of Noel's guitars has just been sold for £325,000 and it had been broken and repaired! Baffles me why anyone would pay that for a broken guitar. The Gibson ES-355 that broke up Oasis sells for £325,000 – but it's not the Noel Gallagher guitar his forthcoming 355 signature model is based on | MusicRadar

Another one worth mentioning but it's a film made in 1985 is Local Hero, starring Burt Lancaster, Peter Capaldi, Peter Riegert, Denis Lawson, Jenny Seagrove, and Jennifer Black. It's a very gentle subtle comedy and well worth watching.

Do you not have a Trading Standards department or an equivalent? That’s what we have in the UK, but I’m guessing that you are in the US. If the shop offers a 30 day money back guarantee and they’re not honouring it, they are clearly in breach of contract.

I think to a large extent the golden era of British comedy shows has past, everyone is terrified of offending someon now.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Car Share by Peter Kay. Anything Peter has done is always hillarious including his stand up comedy shows, you should check out his mi heared lyrics sketch on Youtube if you havn't already seen it.

A couple more are Rising Damp, an absolute classic and Harry Enfield and Chums, here's a clip where he's playing Kevin, the truculent teenager:

Gary has to be one of the best guitarists ever and he's got a damn fine voice as well. Much missed: https://youtu.be/PronD9CecJA It's not possible to embed the video so you'll have to follow the link.

That's a really interesting article, thanks for posting it.

Excellent, congratulations.

I don't think Classic's have ever had Gold hardware, and the pickup aren't original. I'm sure others with more knowledge will be able to giver more information.

Interesting Video Regarding ES335 Pickup Rings
IanHenry replied to IanHenry's topic in The Gibson Lounge
The neck side looks lower to me and the pickup looks almost level, it is pretty much how my 335 now looks. I didn't notice any difference in the sound since reversing it, but it certainly looks better. -
I see what you mean😰

I've nothing against older acts carrying whilst people are still prepared to pay for it and as long as they (the band) are enjoying it, but in that clip Jon BonJovi just sounds awful.
-
I just noticed this Gibson TV video about adjusting the height of your Humbuckers by Jim DeCola, and I see that the 335 he's using has had it's neck pickup ring reversed, I just wondered why they don't do that at the factory. See at 3.59

Yes, I agree, I went to see Skynyrd a couple of years ago (the first time I'd seen them), and to be honest they were a little boring, musically excellent but boring. I lost count of how many times they announced that they were the best band in the World, I also found them a bit patronising, displaying an amalgamation of the the Stars and Stripes and the Union flag on a screen. Bon Jovi were ok as pop band's go.

I saw this on Youtube, and I was shocked at how bad Jon Bon Jovi sounded. Unless it was a one off bad night, maybe it's time to call it a day: I always thought Richie Sambora was the real talent in the band.
