  1. the burstbucker 1/2 are actually more vintage correct in that they have an uneven number of windings. it is those extra windings that give the BBs that little edge that i like. the 57s are good' date=' but they dont do it for me. i havent played the 57 plus though[/quote']

I agree Fenn. There are some guys who want to replace their BB's with aftermarket pups.

My BB's (1 & 2) are amazing!...I wouldnt even consider replacing them. I had them measured

and if memory serves me correctly the neck pup was 7.69k and the bridge was 8.25k.

Perfect for my style of music.

I really think Gibson got the PAF sound right when they introduced the BB series of pickups.

  2. One thing I learned is that when jamming with others, its not a competition.

I used to be shy and reserved when exchanging chops and ideas. I always thought id get laughed at or people would think

my ideas were amateur or silly. It took a lot of fun out of the jam session.

Then when I was in my late 20's it dawned on me....who cares!

When I do get together with other music lovers now, its a blast. No one cares who has the best chops or who can razzle-dazzle

the most...Its for pure fun and love of the intstrument.

Sometimes ill come up with a lick thats sooo cool...other times im happy to jam along with power chords....its all good and I

    have a ball.

  3. All Gibson pickups are already waxed, there is a further step that you can take to put wax between the cover and the pickup but you do not have to.

Not true, all pups that come with the guitar are wax potted as far as Burstbuckers go...

But, to buy a set of BB's at you local music shop...theyd come with no wax.

This comes from Gibson. I e-mailed them and asked them.
