  1. Also been watching this thread with interest and agree with the above. I bought a new Masterbilt Frontier around 6 weeks ago and changed strings straight away with no problem. I can’t believe how good this guitar is for me and the quality is up there with my J45TV, USA Texan and J45 Studio. At this price it is a great buy. After the first post on this thread I checked some images online and they are ALL this close to the tuning post. There was a 60’s original on a bidding site was also the same - this seems to be the way it is. You pays your cash and takes your choice - I am delighted to own this guitar and it has already been put to use as a jamming, pub guitar etc. No issues
  2. I might bail out of this circus now - the tone has nosedived and i dont get anything from this anymore. C ya down the line
  3. I am In Glasgow, Scotland. I put a deposit on a J45 Studio Rosewood early July - it was already on.order from the store anyway - and I received it 2 weeks ago. I have to say it was worth the wait but I was getting impatient.
  4. I’m in the UK and managed to pick a sunburst one last August inbetween lockdowns. After years of the IB 64 and then the Frampton one and the masterbuilt I was mad when they released this as I had to have it. I have a J160 and a J45TV and this texan kinda falls inbetween the 2 somewhere soundwise. I have played it a helluva lot and the electrics are fantastic too. It’s a punchy sound right enough. It really is well made and I reckon they’ve had fun in Montana producing something different, historical and unique. You get the Gibson documents, headstock stamp and all the usual goodies with it in a nice grey case.Recommended.
  5. Agree - the 160 gets very little attention these days - maybe it’s because it’s been out of regular production for a while. I have a 2008 solid top versh and it is well loved as an electric guitar played through a Vox. Being a Fabs/Lennon nut it sits alongside my Ric 325 Miami and gives me loads of fun thrashing through those early songs!
  6. Love it - congratulations. I got the Sunburst version yesterday
  7. I just took delivery a few weeks ago of the new Masterbilt version released at the same time. I have the Peter Frampton one and had the I.B. 1964 one too - the Masterbilt is far superior to both of those - I can’t justify the USA one as my J45 TV is the best acoustic I’ve ever played.
  8. I took delivery of a new Masterbilt Texan last Friday. I also have the Peter Frampton one and have had 3 IB 1964 versions over the years. I always wanted one with more solid wood and bought the Frampton model but I can honestly say all these pale in comparison to this new Masterbilt version. The build quality is flawless and the main thing noticeable is the quality of sound - improved bass, ringing mids and trebles are amazing. I also have a J45Tv and 2 Martins and this new Masterbilt is getting near that quality. I will try the USA version when I get a chance but doubt it will replace my J45. Anyway - don’t scrimp - the Masterbilt is miles ahead worth the extra cost
  9. Hi there. It's Brian from Glasgow here. I saw your post earlier and, if it helps, when I had my 160 on Gumtree someone messaged me to say all J160's after 2005 had reverted back to P90 pick-ups. Hope you get your guitar. I have been enjoying mine again. Will be playing along with Help! Album after lunch'! Kind regards, Brian

  10. Hi there. It's Brian from Glasgow with the J160 here. I spoke to your friend Xose this evening. Apologies if it seems I am being awkward but I have trust issues with so much guitar value and money involved in this sale. The only way I can do a deal is for someone to visit my home, check the guitar is Ok, pay me in cash which I will check for counterfeit.

  11. Thanks for all the advice on this post. I'm now the new owner of a new set of bridge saddle bone pins from my friends Warther of Ohio. Fitted last night - between them and a nice new set of D'Adarrio EXP 12 gauge strings the J45 is ringing like a bell and has booming bass. Thinks I'll be upgrading the same on my D28. Recommended.

  12. J45 quality bridge pins

  13. My j45 standard is now 1year old and the icing on the cake would be a nice set of quality bridge pins to replace the plastic standard ones. Can anyone recommend a specific type or material please. I use elixir 12s
