  1. I had a chrome lyre on my 2000 year model ‘61 reissue SG and it did not have much up and down movement at all. Sometimes caught the control knobs as it swung. Arm tightens with a Phillips head screw. But then you cannot shut the case unless you move the arm towards the tailpiece, away from the strings. So it comes loose again. Looks cool but junky in operation.
  2. I had one in blue ice. Sounded great. I think it had block inlays. Can’t remember why I sold it. To fund ‘61 reissue? Only thing I not liked was strap button on back at upper horn. First day I had it I accidentally put a 1/2 moon dent on the face near the bigsby.
  3. It was definitely static. I know the diff between static, A/C, and rf noise. Usually happened when walking across carpeted floor and then touching neck. Regardless of where it is generated, it definitely has to pass thru the electronics to be heard coming out of the amp. That is why shielding works. Otherwise my shielding would not have worked. And like I said, as soon I I shielded up the bass, it stopped.
  4. 1. That’s what is called a “Monday” jack plate. As in, it musta been installed on a Monday. 2. Personally I would not care about that tilted jack plate if it was the best guitar I ever played, as you say. If it sounds great and plays great and looks great otherwise, I would be thankful. Not everyone gets all three at the same time (sounds/looks/plays great). You did. 3. Once you get famous everyone will want their jack plate mounted just like yours!.👍😀
  5. Say what y’all will but immediately after shielding the static was gone and been gone ever since. I guess it does have something to do with electronics as it must be traveling thru your guitar electronics if it originates on the guitar and you can hear it from your amp. It has to get to the amp somehow. But either way, it worked for me.
  6. Copper tape shielding the whole cavity and entire back of pickguard eliminated the static issue in my 2019 Gibson LPDCTribute bass.
  7. 1. Check the switch that the blades are making contact when in bridge position. 2. Make sure no bare wire parts are being pushed out of position and might be touching another piece of metal or other wiring in the cavity when the cover is put back on. 3. Did you check the pick ups ohm readings before installing to make sure they are both functioning pick up?
  8. I woulda just replaced it with a Stellartone Varitone Tonestyler. Plus the owner of Stellartone loves to talk harness wiring so if you had a question he is of enormous help.
  9. No new Gibsons but I just removed ( in one piece) the pup and harness from my 2019 LPDCTribute Bass and, the Lord willing, am hopefully completing the new harness and Ric HiGain going in soon.
  10. Isn’t it the pots’ taper not the k that makes a pot do that? I heard linear taper pots go smoothly o-10 and back. Audo taper has the big jumps. Like 0-4 is barely anything then 5-8 is like full volume then 8-10 is no change?
  11. At this point I think only the top 10% of earners worldwide can afford pro level guitars and basses. Or someone with serious guitar priorities. If guit prices continue to rise , at some point I would expect new sales to crash. I mean, the average earner is basically priced outta the market at this point.
  12. I feel like Gibson just slaps everyone in the face with those prices.
  13. Sounds ludicrous and insulting. Even more so than the marketing of relic-ed models.
  14. Along time ago I asked a salesman about the price of a custom shop model. It was either Fender Gibson. He stood up out of his chair extended his hands towards me and said “Back awaaaaaaaay from the counter.”! 🤣😀
  15. Once you get famous then YOU will have the artist model everyone wants.
  16. Good ideas so far. I’ll add: Idea 1-Break angle to shallow/deep? Try adjusting stop bar 1/4 to 1/2 turn either way. Idea 2- Try a Deusenburg Les Trem and see if that changes things.
  17. Actually gold matches the paint better. I’d do gold tuners and stop bar and bridge and call it complete!!
  18. Love those deep bevels!!!
  19. D hi e and the b tuners looks like they have pinholes drilled next to them. Maybe from etuners? wierd lotsa finish checking on headstock for such a young Gibson.
  20. Have you checked the relief yet? See how much relief it has if any. Also, copper shielding the entire electronics cavity and back of the pickguard got rid of the static on my 2019 Gibson bass. I have seen bridges that high before.
  21. I had an Sg standard that came in that case. The quality of the Sg was not so good. Case was really nice!!. had a couple Sg standards since. Not great quality. then I got a ‘61 reissue…very nice!!
  22. The authentic chainsaw case of the 1980’s has a handle bar. Not a handle.
  23. Haven’t been to O’s stadium since the 90’s. Seems like now all the stadiums are named after banks. What happened that they weren’t named after banks pre-1995? I used to go to Memorial Stadium with my Dad when I was a kid. Those were the days!!!
