  1. THAT never would have been on MY radar, at all..."bargain" or not! There's NO beveling (on the front, anyway), in the horn areas, at all! The Les Paul might have been a consideration, possibly? But, as many here know, SG's with no horn beveling, and tapering is NOT the SG, for me. But, to each his/her own! CB
  2. Build quality consistency, is much better nowadays! As are the sheer numbers, of choices! So, statistically speaking, you're more apt to end up with a great guitar, now, more often than not. Some of the wood, back then, was touted to be of a "superior" quality. But, if it didn't end up on a great guitar...that didn't mean much! I've owned guitars since 1964...and I still have my very first "electric" guitar, which was a birthday present, from my Mom, in 1964...my Fender "L" series Strat! Is it any better, than a new one? Who knows? I know, TO ME, Nothing can replace it, for a variety of reasons. But, realistically, that may be more sentimental value, to me, even way beyond it's considerable financial worth. I have guitars, made from 1954, through 2013! I LOVE 'em ALL! If I didn't, they wouldn't be still be here. Are they any "better" than other's in the same range, from any era? I doubt it! But, for me, they're perfect for what I want them to do. Now, for serious "Collectors," or those who rely more on financial "worth," than musical viability, there's nothing I own, they'd be the least bit interested in. But, So What?! I couldn't care less! When I'm gone, they'll be handed down, or sold off, by my survivors, and other's will get to enjoy them. So, "Old or New" should be evaluated on a "Case by Case" basis...IMHO. Not because it's Old, or New! Cheers, CB
  3. Early this morning, while in an "ethereal" mood, I listed to "Daughter" live, at KEXP, on YouTube. Later, came Samantha Fish, at various venues/concerts. Right now...Abby Road! CB
  4. I've played a couple of 1275's, once or twice, over the years. Always thought I'd like one UNTIL I played it. Too unwieldy, and of limited use/cost ratio IMHO. So, I opted to get a Ric 12 for my "electric" 12-string needs, and stay with the '61 SG for my SG needs. We have (minimum) 2 guitar players in the bands I play in (often times, 3 or even 4), so anything that needs the "back and forth" between 6 and 12 string, we just arrange for going back and forth, between players. Works well, for the limited times that it's required. But, that's just Me! Enjoy your 1275 when you get it. CB
  5. Where's the other volume control knob?!! ;>O (Just kidding) Nice axe!! ;>)

  6. If the next flexes enough to widen, or lengthen the crack, you have more than a "finish crack!" Take it to an authorized Epiphone/Gibson repair service, and have it evaluated. They'll either repair...or, if under warranty, ship it to Epiphone/Gibson, for a replacement. Did you drop, or seriously bang this guitar, against something? That looks to be a "stress" fracture! So, it may not be covered, in the warranty?! CB
  7. Don't Tempt me! LOL SG's can be an "addiction," like Les Paul's are, for some other people! I just LOVE the "Horny Little Devils!" CB
  8. LOL, yeah, that happens. People glam onto a thread, for awhile, then it disappears. Or, they get busy, and don't post for some time. It's a very "fluid" situation, here. But, we're still here! Cheers, CB
  9. Well, if you love everything else, about your SG, just have the Nut, and bridge saddles changed/re-cut. Don't really need to send the guitar back, to Gibson, IMHO. Any competent Luthier, or repair person can do what needs to be done, in pretty short order. I had an issue, on a brand new SG with the Maestro. Gibson gave me the option, of sending it back, for either a replacement SG, or just a new Maestro unit, to be sent to me, directly, or to my dealer. I chose to have my dealer install the new Maestro, because I LOVED everything else, about my SG (Color, Grain pattern, bevels and hortapering, neck, TONE, etc.) and didn't want a different SG. But, that's just Me! Cheers, CB
  10. Just the 4 pictured! I had several in my youth, in "the Sixties," that were sold off, when I stopped playing 40 years ago. (Long story) When I started playing again, in about 2000, I looked at SG's again, but didn't really care for the narrower beveling, and lack of horn tapering, that was "Standard" at the time. In late 2012 and 2013 Gibson went back to the wider beveling, and traditional horn tapers, that were the Hallmark of the line, originally, and I couldn't resist, any longer! I only hope they'll continue that trend, and re-introduce a "Special" (P-90's) and "Junior" with the same beveling and horn tapering, in the near future. Otherwise, I'm "good=satisfied" with what I have now. The first actual "electric guitar" I ever played, was a '61-62? Les Paul (SG) Junior, with a single "Dog Ear" P-90! It belonged to the older brother of a good friend of mine, that played drums. We wanted to start a band, but I didn't have an electric guitar (at that time), so his brother loaned me his Gibson SG Junior, and his little Gibson Amp, as well. (He had stopped playing them, by that time, and they were just "collecting dust.") Our classmate, and bass player also had an EB-0, at one point. So, SG's are very much a part of MY "Rock & Roll" guitar playing history. CB
  11. They ARE All "really nice!" Luckily, I don't have to make that decision. But, IF I did, it would probably be the "Original." It has the nicest wood grain, and a great neck (as they all do). The tone of all of them, is Awesome, so that's not really a consideration, in this hypothetical scenario. CB
  12. You're welcome! And, you're right...it is a "smoking hot" SG Custom! CB
  13. All my SG's have Classic '57's! My Gibson "Lucille" has the 490's! = I Love them Both! CB
  14. LOL...well, I wish I was prolific enough, on the fingerboard, to "Smoke" it! But, I just do what I can! CB
  15. Well, mine was just the inexpensive (but, still Awesome!!!) "Faded" version, so the "Gig bag," was standard. The Custom Shop (AKA "Historics") do have the CS case, included. But, I'm sure you knew that! CB
