  1. So did the OP ever figure out if the knob was just on a bit crooked - or was there an issue with the potentiometer?
  2. Well I just spoke with ZZounds this morning and they have 17 (!!) 2016 Gibson 61 Reissue SGs in stock. He said Gibson decided to bring it back again for this year. Still it's $1,900 which seems especially expensive when the Derek Trucks model can be had new for less than $1,300.
  3. I'm not sure I'm buying this is a 2016 61 Reissue. Gibson hasn't had this guitar on their website for a couple of years (at least). Not only that the latest buyer review is from 2010. Someone should buy it and report back.
  4. http://www.zzounds.com/item--GIBSG61 This one has a tune-o-matic bridge.
  5. Last time I checked Sweetwater had zero stock of any 61 Reissue SGs and not even a listing where this SG could be preordered. Are we sure the 61 Reissue has been brought back by Gibson? It's not listed on the Gibson 2016 lineup on the official site.
  6. So why did Gibson discontinue the proper 61 Reissue SG?
  7. Any chance you could upload those photos?
  8. The Trucks SG is even more over-priced. 2016 isn't that far off so maybe Gibson will retool the standard and bring it back to its former glory.
  9. Show me some links where the 61 Tribute Les Paul can be purchased from please. It looks to me like another discontinued model.
  10. Why is Gibson referring to this guitar as a Les Paul?
  11. A buddy of mine has a 61 Reissue SG that has the high output 57 Classic pickups. I really love the sound and responsiveness of this guitar. I understand this model has been dicontinued (why??). Anyway - is there a current production Gibson SG with similar pickups, sound and features?
  12. Yes - been to guitar crazy. I picked up a VHT Special 6 Ultra head from Bob a few months ago. I like Apple Music and also the new Proguitarshop in the Pearl District. Awesome shop.
  13. ^Funny the Clackamas GC is where I purchased my SG Classic. I've looked at the same used 61 I think you're referring to - its hanging on the wall inside the sound-proof room.
  14. If I'm paying close to $2K for a reissue guitar like this I'd certainly be looking for a one piece body. I'm really surprised that Gibson would release the 61 with anything BUT a single piece body. Heck my new SG Classic with P90s has a one piece body if I'm not mistaken.

^ Hey Mark good to see you here. I checked with a local Portland, OR, luthier and asked about replacing the stock plastic nut. This was the response: "Bone is my favorite material for the nut on any guitar. That said, I don't generally consider it so superior to a well cut plastic nut that I would replace the plastic nut with a bone one. But plenty of people disagree with me on this issue and we would be happy to replace your nut if you like." I really trust this shop so I'm going to leave the stock plastic nut in place. As far as replacing the tuners - the only issue could be the extra weight/strain it might place on the neck vs. the stock tuners (or so I have read on other forum sites).
