  1. FWIW, a writeup... https://www.cowboysindians.com/2024/02/gibson-a-handcrafted-american-original/
  2. Don't know if it's been posted, have not seen this til now. Cool!
  3. You're very talented, great job! The vocal and you're playing is top-notch. Keep at it!
  4. As for color, if you're asking for personal opinion, mine is traditional vintage sunburts, not the tri-color. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As for retaining value, I have no idea how the market treats those colors. I just think the old sunburst is stunning when done well. Maybe some exist, but I haven't seen any Gibson not done well. I have lucked up buying some guitars without playing (with a return policy) them first but much prefer playing first. My last two J45s, different models, were bought online and both are awesome.
  5. On a constructive note, I did not care for using "Oklahoma" either. Didn't work for me. " Kudos to you for taking this on, good job! And doing the rewrites. I have written several songs about real tragedy. As for word count, it is a big concern for me, I am always wary. Wordy songs can certainly work (cue Dylan) and I have a bunch of 'em! I usually write 'normal' length or word count but I def enjoy writing wordy songs. Fun!
  6. Sounds good to me, Buc. Good playing, too, sounds mystical.
  7. Oh, my, that sounds fantastic. Wow, that is a beautiful sound! I have been drooling over my Martin D28 sound of late but this Gibson is giving me gas. I will be in Nashville in the near future, I wish I could find one to try.
  8. In another country from where you lived -- near Shreveport. You know the drill... it's East Texas. Well, actually, music-wise, it's not. Cross the line to Texas, and people actually appreciate music, even original music.
  9. I really like how their website actually described the product as such... Why Should You Play White Bronze? You're using a magnetic pickup with your acoustic guitar You want to coax the full dynamic range out of your acoustic guitar You want a string that can last a long time, that isn't coated
  10. What is the purpose of the soundhole cover. What is the need to use it?
  11. Wow, you are right, I see it now! How cool!
  12. You beat me to it. My dad was a farmer/cattleman. I have a song idea I started long ago in my idea book (hundreds/thousands of ideas) to write "Daddy's Knife." I must say you did a great job. If I ever write my song, I will have to mention cutting his fingernails. I was always fascinated to watch him do that. His fingernails were like ironwood compared to my kid fingernails. All the way around, great job. Guitar sounds very gibsony! I enjoyed the song, you're good, Ben!
  13. What a dream story, congrats bigtime!
  14. How cool, Sal, I didn't know Gibson made a guitar like this! I'm interested in playing a guitar with a port someday.
  15. I think you said it well. Since his death, I have pondered pretty much what you said. He loved what he did. Knew his human frailties. Had some less redeeming moments like we all have but always admitted it and regretted it. He was a lucky man and knew it, that is what I like. GL was an excellent songwriter, toward the top. That has to be immensely gratifying. To know that you will sell out most any theater even towards the end, that is amazing.
  16. One can easily find a video of Guy and Verlon playing this song. But... listen to THIS campfire story and rendition. Amazing story...
  17. Great job, congrats, I know that will be a very special memory!
  18. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced case? For a J45 or a Gospel. Maybe they will fit the same?
  19. I am shocked at the prices mentioned. Really? Sheesh.
  20. I don't know the answer, would have to experience both. For more than five minutes. Best way would be to buy each so you could play awhile to figure this out. I have never played an LG2, would like to. Have three J45s! Love all three. Have a baritone voice. I have other guitars but tend to like Gibson more these days.
  21. Seems to be a very good price, cool guitar.
  22. That guitar sounds fantastic and that guy can really play. Sheesh, what I would give to be able to play like that. Some people just got it. And a bazillion hours of practice, of course.
  23. I think it's fantastic. And enjoyed the video for sure. Americana at its finest.
  24. I haven't bought anything in a few years.
