  1. I started off using Cubase AI 4.5 a long time ago (it came with some piece of Yamaha gear I bought) and have worked my way up to a Pro 11 setup now.  The learning curve was a little steep at first but there's lots of good YouTube stuff out there that helps.  It's running on a dedicated PC right now.  I'm not sure if I'll keep using it though - Steinberg has announced they're going to an annual license scheme with built in upgrades rather than the perpetual license (buy and use that version forever) they have now.

Never thought about what was inside them before.  I get the similarity to the jangly surf music from the early sixties.

Not sure how Page came up with the idea to use a Danelectro in recording Zepplin, but I am  sure I've read he did a few times.

According to what I saw at the Play It Loud exhibition at the Met he used it for the Yardbirds and for Zepplin on Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, In My Time of Dying, and Black Mountain Side.  Tuning was DADGAD.

    Apologies Rabs

I was editing while you replied!

    Insane prices.

    Sale Total - ($) 21,490,750 .

That means Gilmore gets about $15 million of it.  The buyers premium is usually about 20% plus there are other fees and taxes.  I just missed going to see the showing when we were in New York over Memorial Day weekend.  I think it opened the day we left.

  4. I hadn't seen anyone comment on this yet but we were in New York this weekend (my wife was singing in a choir at Carnegie Hall) , but for any of you who are planning on being in NYC anytime between now and October, this is definitely worth the price of admission:

Jimmy Page contributed a bunch of stuff to it, but there are lots of interesting iconic instruments and a few short interivews.

  5. Thanks... I was trying to avoid going down that route, but looks like the only way to get a close match.

One other thing would be to check for an L-5 string set. Gibson discontinued them back around 2013 I think but you might be able to find a few sets on Ebay. There's at least one in the EU: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-L-5-cordiera-per-chitarra-elettrica-SEG-900L/332507037645?hash=item4d6af6bfcd:g:6tgAAOSwaSZaTHWr

Eventually you'll have to build your own or find something else that works.

  6. of course! and yes i believe it was guitar dater. 101015

Send pictures for the guitar and the serial number to Gibson Customer support. They should be able to at least tell you if the serial number matches the guitar. My guess would be that someone modified it. The serial number seems to fit a 2010, but could be just odd..

  7. From the Guitar Dater Project: http://www.guitardat...g/epiphone.aspx

    Guitar Info

Your guitar was made at the

    Muse Plant, China

    August 1922

    Production Number: 1581

    Muse Incorporated

Muse Incorporated has been in existence for 10 years, Headquartered in Inchon, Korea, with additional plants in Weifang, China. Muse builds guitars, basses and amplifiers.

The Guitar Dater Project is notoriously bad, particularly on older guitars. It's maybe better on Fender than Gibson brands. Your best bet is to do a little research on the company websites. Most of them have dating info that Guitar Dater only can generalize.

  8. Ya model number is MC22081581. Not sure?

I did a little more looking, apparently Muse wasn't that good at keeping to Epi standards for serial numbers. There are a bunch of threads here about similar ones. Probably a 2002 or 2003 - you could call Gibson Customer Service and they might be able to figure out when it came into the country.:

  9. People may be asking what year it was made because the serial number is strange. It appears to be in <Factory Code/YY/MM/sequence number> format. MC would be Muse (China), but 22 as the year number isn't really an option (1922?) Or maybe I'm just reading the number wrong in the photo?

  10. The quality on the non-stamped books is hit or miss. Printed in China, poor bindings, crappy materials although the reproduction of the photos isn't too bad. I went through three on Amazon before I got one that didn't have pages falling out or printing errors.
