  1. I think Signature Models and Standard Models are 2 different things . I see a lot of people complaining about the prices of Gibsons and they fail to understand that they are making well priced models as well (just not signature stuff) . I played one of the Slash J 45’s at the 2020 NAMM and it was incredible ... It’s obvious to me that signature models do have value if you have an open mind . If you are a close minded person who doesn’t like having other people’s name on your guitar you have the standard series and even some guitars like the G series or the walnut b/s models . The Slash J 45 sounds like a piano with that thick 58 Les Paul style neck .You don’t have to love any artist to be into their signature model . The reverse is true as well ... You might really love an artist Gibson partners with and end up not getting along with their signature model. People ripped Slash cause they said doing an acoustic was just him slapping his name on some Gibson product ... and i couldn’t disagree more ... It’s a well thought out guitar and it offers something unique in the line that isn’t available on other models. Slash owns a collection of fine acoustics and I’m sure playing great acoustics allowed him to put out a great J 45 with Gibson. I comment on the Slash model as an example of a signature because I cannot comment on the Tom Petty model (since namm 2021 was cancelled) I’m going to try and get the NG J 150 myself as closure for a friendship that went sour. Basically I dig signature models even the ones by artists I’m not into . Would love to try the red Orianthi model too !! JC
  2. The original SJ-200 Wildflower was a one-off that was built for Tom during the Wildflowers era in the 1990s. Now Gibson is proud to release the Tom Petty SJ-200 Wildflower, which was inspired by Tom's original. JC
  3. Love it ! Very unique and if Tom ordered his that way ... Then I understand why they chose this pickguard and aesthetics. It’s a replica of his model . I wish I had 10k to get one . JC
  4. Love em !!! Great seeing you around again DR JC
  5. Folks, Check out this great demo of the new banner J 45 : Here’s an actual 44 for comparison: JC
  6. EA, He did use a D 28 for a while when his new namesake band started ...I’m sure he wanted to get away from the J 150 sound associated with Oasis and give his band a chance to stand on its own sonic merits . But after a while he reverted back to his J 150 as the main instrument so much so that he even purchased a blonde J 150 : The D 28 still makes an appearance in his live show but it’s not his main instrument. JC
  7. Click bait for the most part . 1)He obviously doesn’t get why the Jimi Hendrix Models And other artist models exist . 2) He probably hasn’t heard of the G 45 models 3) What Mark is doing on Gibson TV is basically what he did at Norms ... and people loved it and they dig Gibson T.V’s “The Collection” 4) He’s a Martin guy 5) I don’t think this guy has any idea what he is talking about when it comes to Gibson. 6) The Slash J 45 is an incredible guitar that may appeal to non Slash fans . 7) He just crammed 4 bogus and random reasons into a video cause he needed content . JC
  8. That’s not a Southern Jumbo . And it isn’t a mystery either it’s a Gibson Songwriter body shape . JC
  9. As much I appreciate Martin and Taylor . Gibson is the brand that makes the sound I hear in my head when I think of the sound of guitars . All the boutique stuff is incredible but it’s not for me . Gibson has an aspect to its guitars that I can’t really describe but that I really enjoy. JC
  10. J 200 M’s started being produced around 2007.What you probably have is a J 200 Junior which started being produced in the 90’s. M stands for Mini JC
  11. Call Fuller’s Guitar in Houston, TX: 713-880-2188 They are incredible ! JC
  12. Last year from Guitar.com: Noel Gallagher has hinted at an upcoming signature acoustic guitar from Gibson: the sunburst J-series acoustic he wrote a large amount of Oasis material on, famously adorned with an Adidas sticker. Speaking to Guitar.com about that particular guitar, Gallagher said: “Gibsonis doing a signature model of that one. I sent it there to be photographed, the grain and the whole thing. It’s not even a J-200, you know. It’s a J-150 that I just took off the shelf in London, played it, and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll take it.’ I never thought anything of it. But I’ve written some great ****ing songs on that guitar. “They only made them for a couple of years. In fact, just this year I found a blonde one, which I got off Reverb.com. I try not to buy guitars off the internet, because you’ve got to ****ing hold them first, and it was a bit expensive, but I thought, ‘**** it. I’ll just go for it.’ It arrived and it was amazing. I’m playing it on tour with U2.” Although there is no official announcement as to the guitar yet, it does seem we could be in for a Noel Gallagher signature from Gibson. We’ll just have to wait and see if the Adidas sticker is included. An official announcement has been made by Gibson since this was written but no photos or no additional info is available at this time just that it’s in the pipe . JC
  13. Beautiful! People obviously don’t understand that this guitar is trying something new ... Fender does the electric necks on acoustics all the time . A Tom Petty Wildflower SJ 200 is in the works and so is a Noel Gallagher J 150 . People also criticized the Slash J 45 and to be honest it’s one of the best J 45’s I’ve played. JC
  14. Sierra is one of my favorites. Love her voice and her picking. “Rosemary” and “Why’d you do it”are some of my favorites from her. A true gem of an artist! JC
  15. Thanks Em7 !!! JT is one of my idols for sure. While I don’t like Beatles music a whole lot ... I do think each member are mystical figures individually. And to step into a room with 2 of them would be a religious experience almost .Good to see him still treating his old friend well . JC
  16. Nick, Here you go: you can see the bridge clearly at around the 10 second mark. JC
  17. To be clear , the only Artist Models currently in production are: 1)Slash J 45 2) Sheryl Crow Country Western Supreme 3) Frank Hannon Love Dove 4) Gibson also lists the Eric Church Hummingbird Dark back on the website. The Donovan J 45 was produced years ago . JC
  18. Here’s a pretty decent demo : Also: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CCpInmTBbpX/?igshid=16xr0e0o5pybh JC
  19. Perhaps your expectations are unrealistic ? How much playing do people do around frets number 10 and 12? if the action is high a competent luthier can adjust that for you. The pickguard issue is something common in standard series instruments since Gibson changed to what people call the “flubber” material. Gibson should issue you a new guard if you are buying from an authorized Gibson dealer.Gibson made the change because people would always complain that the artwork on guitars like the Hummingbird or SJ 200 would wear off. JC
  20. It’s still on the website so it’s still available to order . the “out of stock” designation is just a solution the new owners of Gibson found to stop what the old owners were trying to do which is allow people to order online. The new management believes in their dealers . JC
  21. The Firebird is definitely one of my favorites!! JC
