  1. Hello Fellow Guitarists!

I am currently under going a fun project, I am trying to prep my Gibson SG to have it custom painted by a friend of mine but I am having one hell of a time stripping the paint off of the SG. are there other ways that people know about that i can use to expedite the process? Thank you in Advance!

  2. Perhaps. I would think the opposite as the scale is staying the same but the strings in between the bridge and stop tail got longer. I am gonna give it a shot anyway, taking my guitar beaten experimental SG to my luthier tomorrow to see if it is different. Going to leave the original posts where they are so the pickups stay grounded and if i want to switch back and forth. This poor thing has been through hell and back. I perform all my evil concocted ideas on this SG.

  3. Hey guys. I just got done watching a Rick Beato video Are Vintage Guitars worth the money. What caught my eye almost immediately was his 1965 Gibson SG with a stop tail modification after removing the Lyre Vibrato but the placement was further back from stock Gibson's. The gap between the Stoptail and bridge was enormous but he says that the strings feel looser and its more comfortable to play with that set up. So i was curious of the Pros and Cons of taking my stop tail and pushing it back a .5" to 1" and if anyone else has done this mod before.

  4. I finally took a stab in the dark and decided to get the Veneer. It is beautiful slightly bowed but thats something that a little steam cant fix. For those that are wondering in case you want to do this yourselves the ES/SG style head stock is larger than the Les Paul USA Lines (Smaller than the Les Paul Custom) however some shaving of the veneer is required. Ill post pics when the project is complete.

  5. Well that's what i'm still curious about. I just want to make sure that the veneer is the same size or larger than the Les Paul head stock. So if there is anyone out there with an SG and a LP that can compare the 2 head stock sizes to see if they are comparable that would be great!

  6. Good afternoon all,

I've recently broken and repaired my head stock on my 2018 Les Paul Traditional and the veneer got destroyed in the process. I plan on replacing the veneer and I have an opportunity to make it anything I want, I plan on putting the Crown Inlay Veneer found on SG's or ES's and was wondering if the head stock shape is similar or at least larger so I can trim it down. Thank you all for your help.
