  1. Nope, I would find a original item to replace a original item. Gibson can make and sell what they wish. Its there business and folks buy it. my first two years of buying new Gibsons was in the very early days of Bozeman I fully supported there endeavour to craft fine Gibsons . I spent well in excess of 6 figures and got well crafted guitars but to be honest they will never be like the originals from the original era . In some cases these guitars are suppose to be better. Nowadays its all in there marketing and tweeks that make these sell. Im just a consumer that has collected for 50 plus years . And tried to support all makes and brands of quality US made Guitars at the end of the day , your not buying a vintage piece. Your buying a new piece its your choice to pick and choose and to buy or not.
  2. There are enough used Gibsons out there to buy. it almost seems like everytime a entertainer goes on stage with a Gibson. Gibson is like flies taking advantage of a entertainers name to put on a guitar to get more money. At the end of the day , these all just normal standard models .
  3. Well. We do know these Newer Gibson will never be like the old Gibsons from the 50s , if they were. We would all be complaining about how much they’re selling for. Which would be the accurate vintage prices . So for these days. clones of Originals will do I guess. I think the only thing Gibson did close to original specs was the headstock break section 😁
  4. Its a 3000 plus guitar. Pending condition . Ive had a few and sold with good results.
  5. Na. I have had a few of these newer J185s I got it pretty cheap. The home owner was liquidating. His contents to move else where is the country. Its kind of got out of hand money wize in this big city. I paid a grand for the guitar with its case. I like the 185s. This was is not a loud guitar but plays easy.
  6. Next string change. Its in there.
  7. I guess cereal number dont apply on knock offs. 😁
  8. Were those Mortise or Dove tail? I remember a well known guitar shop in Missoula having to do a neck set on one in 1993. They had a heck of a time with it
  9. Dont waste your money ,100% fake.
  10. I believe it is a Bozeman build as well.
  11. Thank you. I found it. Im not much for pickups in acoustics And never knew about these. much appreciated.
  12. Im not familiar with those. Ill check though.
  13. No wires. The jack wire goes to the main control. Another feeds to the saddle. Im wondering if its for feedback. its just 4 feet glued to the back. No damage anywhere. Its odd While poking around in there I did notice a J180 stamp with a date on the bridge plate.
  14. I bought a 2011 J185 a couple days ago. There is this 4 footed thing attached inside on the back. Any idea what its for?
  15. The link was slow but it worked. Ive had a couple of those. Nice looking guitar.
  16. I have a burst L30 Gibson. From I believe ,1937 . script screen logo
  17. The first picture looks correct. The second picture has no relevance, put a saddle in the bridge. Then take a straight edge from the top of the nut to the top of the saddle. That should give you a height has for the top. There not really flat when you tension the strings.
  18. The one you said was 3750us at Daves is 7000 cdn up here and that is the out the door price. From the Long and mc Quade stores which owns the Yorkville dist for Gibson. The lightly aged version of the 42 Sj up here is 9090.00 cdn here. 5400 us at Daves. We only get the one year warranty as well. Not the life time of owner ship like in the USA it is crazy. They have the market cornered here.
  19. Sorry. Wrong price I mentioned. Its actually $9099.00 cdn I see Daves is 4999 us.
