Thats a Neat looking guitar. I bet it sounds and plays real nice -
A good description would work. Width of body lower bout , how many frets? Script or print logo? Ink stanmp inside on heel neck block.

Did Gibson make an Arlo Guthrie 3/4 lg-2 in 2020 that was x braced?
slimt replied to gibsonchiq's topic in Gibson Acoustic
I thought those were ladder braced. -
Looks like the logos on backwards. 😁

Action and other little issues on a new Gibson 50's J-45
slimt replied to Vito89's topic in Gibson Acoustic
So true. I see alot of acoustics where there set up like strats and teles. Which is fine if there built that way -
I ve kind of been told from the mandolin folks I know. It takes time to find the right one. There are alot out there and there not all the same

Action and other little issues on a new Gibson 50's J-45
slimt replied to Vito89's topic in Gibson Acoustic
You bought a 1950s J45. 1950s J45s had a slightly larger neck than the straight run of the mill J45 standard. as for the strange resonance. Was it like a continuous tone? Or vibration ? or rattle? J45s are pretty nice , versatile guitars. -
No idea on value for the guitar. Ut check the case for a name on the latch or pocket of the case is the case in nice condition?
-
I dont see anything resembling a Gibson. The serial number is a someone added touch I do see Stella looks though. 40s ,50s era
-
My old L5s I use either light or Medium D addarios Like yours , ithe L12 should be X Braced for that era.

Question about the guitar line Gibson Les Paul and Gibson SG
slimt replied to Fnfra's topic in The Gibson Lounge
The headstock you show in this picture is not a Gibson . As for Gibson. Its always been a weak spot. On just about all Makes and models of Gibson. Just with the Les Pauls and SGs and basses There heavy and seem to be neglected more. -
Ya electronics is another whole different thing. I know my J45 with a pickup in it sounds a whole lot different plugged in. 😁

Great marketing. So. Does the guitar sound any better without a finish on it? usually nitro finished are very thin and dry out thinner . as time goes on the finish actually dries to the point of seeing the wood grain , especially the tops And binding to wood Soo. Is it the structure that is the sound or the finish or lack of that gives the sound?

Cool guitars for folks with really deep pockets.

I think it shows character. It looks pretty cool. Not all things can be new looking forever -

Over time that guard will be a very light beige color and cracked all over. -

Actually that pickguard is crumbling away. Gassing off -
It is a itch that cannot be scratched . How ever you can only have so many new ones in a collection. Sometimes when I voice my opinion on new Acoustics its only from what I have owned. You other folks will view those in a different manner. I just bought a 56 D28, a 46 D-18 as well as a 53 D-18. Those are my purchases over the last couple of months
