  1. Here on the east coast, we will get a partial eclipse. I still plan to view it with glasses. We had a total back in 2017. It was really cool.
  2. This is probably what gave the idea to whoever first started making those "shreds" videos.
  3. Blasts from the past. I missed whatever ruckus happened in Sparly's post. I miss out on all the fun.
  4. Coincidentally Peter is playing tomorrow at Maryland Live right near me. My 34 year old son was hinting that we should go see him, but I already had plans to take his younger brother out for his birthday.
  5. I saw that too. Shame. He was certainly a prolific musician.
  6. Congratz on the gig. Hope the next one goes well. I don't what to advise on the humidity. I've played some gigs like that too. There's just no escaping it.
  7. Only music I currently have tickets for, is our annual 4 day bluegrass festival, Delfest. Artists include Old Crow Medicine Show, Marty Stewart, Leftover Salmon, Sierra Ferrell, Yonder Mountain, Green Sky Blue Grass, Jig Jam and many others.
  8. My previous comment was made concerning my speaking voice. Not so much singing. But I know that I don't have a good singing voice. Part of it for me, is that as much of a conscious effort I put into not speaking in that horrible Bal'more Maryland accent, I can still hear it in recordings of myself. But here is some content copied from an article addressing the phenomenon: When listening to a recording of your voice, the sound travels through the air and into your ears – what’s referred to as “air conduction.” The sound energy vibrates the ear drum and small ear bones. These bones then transmit the sound vibrations to the cochlea, which stimulates nerve axons that send the auditory signal to the brain. However, when you speak, the sound from your voice reaches the inner ear in a different way. While some of the sound is transmitted through air conduction, much of the sound is internally conducted directly through your skull bones. When you hear your own voice when you speak, it’s due to a blend of both external and internal conduction, and internal bone conduction appears to boost the lower frequencies. For this reason, people generally perceive their voice as deeper and richer when they speak. The recorded voice, in comparison, can sound thinner and higher pitched, which many find cringeworthy.
  9. Played the first full band gig of 2024 tonight. Also the first gig playing my new PRS through an amp, not just straight into PA. Also the first gig we played at this venue. Place called B.C. Brewery. Huge stage, lot's of space inside and place was packed. Another guitar player, who has filled in for me several times in the past, was there and sat in on several songs. No photos but here's the Set List with a few "new" songs added,
  10. Yes. I hate my own voice. And I read an article years ago explaining this phenomenon that everyone hates hearing their own voice, but I can't remember the details now.
  11. He's also doing a remake of his single Going Home with 60 other guitar players , with the proceeds going to a Teenage Cancer Trust charity. https://www.billboard.com/music/rock/mark-knopfler-guitarists-going-home-charity-single-bruce-springsteen-slash-townshend-1235602787/
  12. So this thread wasn't about a massage...
  13. I remember someone suggesting doing a project like this many years ago. Can't remember if it ever went anywhere. Sounds like a cool idea to me, but I am clueless at home recording and have no equipment for it. I had Cubase on an old PC but never learned to do much with it.
  14. I don't practice nearly as much as I should. I sometimes go a week without picking up a guitar. Other times I play some every day of the week. But it's rarely disciplined practice. If I have a full band rehearsal or gig coming up, I make sure to cram any songs I know we will play that I might not be up to speed on. As far as the acoustic stuff with Steve. Like last night. I/we rarely practice. He just scrolls through his Ipad and pulls out whatever song he feels like playing, and I just keep up. All the songs are basic 3 or 4 chord songs, and I am familiar with them 90% of the time. So it's not too hard for me to just improvise over what he does. I keep telling myself that I'm gonna get serious and really get my chops better, but so far I haven't done that.
  15. that's a pretty cool coincidence. Nice guitar too.
  16. I called the tinnitus hotline. But it just kept ringing.
  17. This my my current family of electrics. I still need to het the headstock repaired on the Les Paul Studio Plus.
  18. Anyone know what the little toggle switch is near the tone knobs? I'm guessing maybe coil splitter?
  19. Damn. For some band who can't stand, you devote an awful lot of time and effort typing about them.
  20. I think the Taylor Swift Derangement Syndrome is hilarious. In the playoff game where the Chiefs beat my Ravens, the camera was on TS for like a total of 28 seconds. How many times did the camera used to show Jack Nicholson at Lakers games? I don't remember NBA fans losing their minds.
  21. I would actually snap this up if I had $6500. Not sure how long this link will work. https://www.ryansguitarexperience.com/1979-gibson-les-paul-25-50-anniversary-w-ohsc-paperwork-near-mint/?goal=0_7099c091d7-b74a2faad6-202023085&mc_cid=b74a2faad6&mc_eid=4e2b1da558
