  1. Just got in from a night at a little bar in Dundalk (East Baltimore). It was a "meh" night. We only brought out a few people and then there were some locals. We ended up taking a little less pay cause I now they didn't make much $. The crowd that was there liked us, as well as the staff who said we are their favorite band that plays there, for what that's worth. I didn't think to photo out set list, like rct. ( great song selection BTW) Came home and poured some Dewar's to unwind, and gonna hit the bed soon. Good night all. B)
  2. Yeah. I'm kinda digging these acoustic gigs more and more. Just me and one other guy to split pay, simple PA setup and laid back music.
  3. Congratz on a productive night. I got in around 12:30 from an acoustic thing and uncharacteristically went straight to bed. Gotta do a private party with my full band today. Getting ready to leave now.
  4. Well, it's 3AM my time and I just got in from another bar gig. This one in Columbia MD. I would have been home about 30 minutes sooner, but I was starving and had to stop again at RoFo for some chicken. The good thing about tonight was, they have their own PA and sound guy. All we brought were our amps, drums and in-ear monitors. Good crowd. Even though many people were there just to watch ACC basketball semi-finals, most of them stuck around all night. Now I have to get to bed. I have rehearsal with another band tomorrow (today) and I've barely even gone over the songs we're going to play.
  5. I had never heard of one either until a few weeks ago. On an episode of Live From Daryl's House during the cooking segment. It was the one with Chris Daughtry. My son's girlfriend is from England and has been staying with us since the summer, so I asked her about them. She told me it's a popular dish over there. So when I was in this Irish Pub in Fells Point I had to try it. Can't say I've made one myself yet.
  6. I had a Scotch Egg for the first time on Saturday. Yum
  7. I'm currently playing with 4 different line-ups, so I've been trying to keep up with all the different set lists. Of course, the different line-ups have some overlapping members and one is an acoustic duo that plays mainly simple 3 and 4 chord songs. I pretty much just learn enough to fake my way through them on my own, and if we get a rehearsal I will work on a specific way to play it with the band. Some of the diverse songs I've been trying to cram are: Billy Jean , Valerie-Amy Winehouse, Honesty-Billy Joel, Uptown Funk, Black Velvet, Takin It To The Streets, Jesse's Girl, Dreams-FM, Black Friday-Steely Dan, Beginnings-Chicago,...... I could go on with more but I should start practicing.
  8. Nice. Gotta love a Wednesday night gig. B) I'm doing an acoustic gig tonight from 6-9pm. Should be a good time.
  9. Sometimes...later in the evening, as I lie awake in bed. The echos from the amplifiers are ringing in my head. And I smoke the days last cigarette remembering what she said...
  10. Well, I never thought that this topic would be as popular as "The Song Association Game" thread, but I thought a few more people would play along. Guess I'll play by myself. And try one more time to revive it. Got in about 1am, from a 7-11 gig. Nice place with a great crowd. We brought some people plus a nice regular crowd. Some hot dancers My Carvin amp was cookin' nicely now that it's fixed properly. We were packed up by 12ish but it's a little bit of a drive from my house and I stopped for some RoFo chicken on the way home. Hence me getting in after 1am. Overall a great night. B)
  11. Just got in from what was probably the last gig for me of 2016. It's about 2:45 AM. Actually got home about an hour ago, but I saw some of my neighbors (who were at my gig earlier) were still up as I pulled into my house. So I went and drank with them for awhile before coming into the house. OK gig. My amp (which is already a back-up) died on me though.
  12. Jeez, sorry to hear that. Mountain biking? Are you sure he didn't owe a bookie or something? :)
  13. Thanks. But someone didn't like it cause they gave me a -
  14. For those of us who play out on a regular or semi-regular basis. When you get in late, but can't go right to bed. Come here and wind down by checking-in and posting some details of the night. It's about 3:30am my time, but I've been home almost an hour. Grabbed some pretzels and poured some cheap rye whiskey. Started surfing The Lounge for awhile, then this idea hit me. It was our second night of back-to-back gigs. Tonight's was better than Friday. Place was a mid sized local bar but had a decent crowd. We brought quite a few folks in. We played really well and they loved us. Plus there were some really nice sights to see as we played, if you know what I mean. Wink Wink Nod Nod B) Now someone else turn. Probably have to wait til next weekend though.
  15. That reminds me. I'm also re-learning "Little Martha" in my spare time. But I don't currently own an acoustic to play it properly, and I hate re-tuning the guitar for one song.
  16. Our band has added some Holiday music for the next few gigs. Lately I've been practicing The Eagles version of "Please Come Home For Christmas" and working up my own version of "Jingle Bell Rock". I'm mainly copying G.E. Smiths licks from the Hall and Oates version, but also doing it my own way.
  17. Yeah thanks. About that gig thread. I was afraid it might be too much to post even though I sanitized it as best I could. :-)

  18. My son's girlfriend is visiting from England, and she's making steak and ale pie.
  19. MMM. French toast. I made this for my 19 year old son. But because it wasn't buttered, syrup-ed and brought to him as he sat on the couch watching Sponge Bob, it just sat there and never got eaten. F'n millennials....
  20. I had a similar issue with my 2004 Studio when I first purchased it. There was a buzz that would go away if I touched the bridge. Sometimes I would just move a certain way when I had it strapped on, and the best way I can describe it would be the sound of a creaky door when opened. Someone suggested to me at the time that it might be the plastic cover for the posts on the back building up static. These things were mildly annoying to me, but the guitar played so nicely and sounded so good I just dealt with it. After all, it made no difference when I was actually playing music. It was only when I was standing there not playing anything when I would notice it. I could always temporarily turn the volume knob down. When I would jam with friends or play gigs, there was usually enough other noises around to drown out a slight buzzing from my guitar. Long story short. It wasn't that big a deal to me to override my enjoyment of a guitar that I otherwise loved playing. It eventually went away, or I just stopped noticing it.
  21. Yeah. I've been thinking the same thing. Oh, well it's harmless and I've been reminded of some stuff I hadn't heard in awhile. Or checked out something I have never heard before.
