  1. Talking about who you hate doesn't make who you love any better. If I had the singer in U2 I'd take 15 years between records if that is what was needed to make one that sells as many as they have. There is a reason WHY people make records? EVerybody who makes records, not just the people you hate. The beatles were minimum wage musicians, they had to make them that fast, and they had a market that was fairly roomy, so it could absorb and move that much material. U2 moves 20 friggin million recordings of their own farts, they don't have to do anything if they don't want to. It is and has been for 40 years an entirely different music business world and not at all a valid comparison. rct
  2. Right. There's a metric crap tonne of garbage that I, as a 64 year old, am supposed to just adore. I don't. The difference is that I keep my mouth shut about it because it is, after all, nothing but pop music and a matter of taste. The beatles were some lucky twats that got recorded doing certain things first. If it wasn't them it would have been a completely different bunch of twats the following week, and we would never have heard of any of them. But I tend to keep those things to myself. And I certainly don't claim to have some ability to judge and determine the overall quality of any music or musician, whether I like it or not. That's the difference. No sh1t, most people here do nothing but whine and gripe about what they call whining pop stars when they even talk about music, which is pretty rare. I don't know where all the guitar players went, but they haven't been showing up here for a long time now. It's like we are at a guitar forum that has like zero connection to music, making it, (god forbid) selling it, touring it, whatever. It's a friggin old folks home dayroom. Or, I'm just old and grumpy. Either way is ok. rct
  3. It is. They did a great job on that record, they really caught it well. I just chuckle when people bash them guys. I've done that stuff, I've had to sing it and play it. It'll make you work for what little money we get. rct
  4. Oh man. That guy was fantastic live, Jeff Gollub was makin all that good guitar noise. GREAT show back then. rct
  5. She just did Both Sides Now on the Grammys, the way she's been doing it for quite some time now. Beautiful. rct
  6. Why are "they" trying to kill everyone with diseases and vaccines for those diseases? rct
  7. It is coincidentally right under the heat generated by the friction of your picking arm. That heat causes condensation, the haze that you can see. It really is a thing that really does happen. rct
  8. It is water vapor under the finish. It isn't good. You could return it, but they'd tell you I'm full of crap. It's water vapor under the finish. Something wasn't dry enough when it got painted. rct
  9. I am really sorry to hear this. rct
  10. Good thing you aren't touring. rct
  11. They stripped right off for me and many others, two, maybe 3 or 4 gigs in. Grovers went on back then, still do for some of us. rct
  12. Ebay, Reverb, somebody has one. Acoustic Guitar Forum, Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, somebody knows where you can get one. There are a couple of companies that will make you whatever you want. If Gibson doesn't want to sell you one, eff 'em and give the money to someone else. rct
  13. Like on a V? Ebay. rct
  14. What more do you want? rct
  15. I don't even want one of them there but after that I sure want one of them there. rct
  16. The PortaSudios were great! I will go the computer way when I absolutely have to. rct
  17. The Tascams are for people that don't want to use a DAW, for many reasons. Like me. Making a DP-32SD controllable over usb means making DAW software means managing and maintaining upgrades blah blah blah blah. Remember our TEAC/TASCAM 4 and 8 tracks? This idea is them today. Just as not perfect as they were, but if you have that workflow already, they are pretty much the same except for what comes out of the tape machine, which is an SD card. It doesn't need all the DAW nonsense, there is way too much of that stuff out there as it is. rct
  18. I've used 2488, then 2488 Neo, and for the last 5 years or so DP-32SD. A good workflow that you get the hang of very quickly. Good stuff. rct
  19. Close To The Edge once a month whether I need it or not! rct
  20. I've been using a couple of them for a very long time now. 15 years I guess. rct

  22. We'll have to go to the judges on this one, technically recorded in 1969, album not out until 1970, single not until 1971 when the show was on the television machine: rct
