  1. The song context and content are first for me. What is this about and who do I hear doing it best. After that is title of the song. By that time it is pretty much fully formed and I know what I want for the most part. I program the drums and put them down. Next is some combination back and forth of getting the rhythm guitar and bass down. Some keys after that. Vocs after that. Guitar solos, ins, outs, stuff like that. Finally, any more keyboards I want drizzled on it. Done. I'm not at all selling recordings, and I never will that I can see. It is the song I am selling, buyer can do what they want with it. rct

  3. I retired in 2019. I saw a co-worker at the grocery store the other day, a lady I had worked with for more than 25 years. Could NOT, for the life of me, remember her name. Mrs retired February of last year. It has been the best year and a half we've had, and we've been together for more than 45 years now. rct

  5. Certainly can be, especially on a Gibson. That's very often a seam crack in the blank so yeah, it can make that bottom piece fall off. I know, everyone is going to say NO WAY NEVER HEARD OF THAT BULLSH1T but it's about the same chance as a headstock crack/break. rct

  11. We are good thank You very much, and we hope the same right back. No, Florida off the table. Took us almost three years to do it, but in the end we had to. Too much keeping us here. Not where we are now here, but up by Philly here, so still looking, but at a much better pace. rct

    Bargain!

    The internet was becoming more and more a thing. There were "modders", guys you sent your pedals to and they tweaked them and sent them back, you now had a Fuller modded blah blah blah. There were a few boutique amp makers getting known because of the internet like Roccaforte and Mark Sampson. Klon was just another boutique pedal that gained a cult. They were 800, a thousand maybe, back then. Stupid money for a pedal that most of us thought didn't really do anything. It's funny about all that money to step on it. I remember many nights at a bar called JD's in Smithville NJ. A guy we knew in a great band used a Charvel/Jackson guitar into an old Traynor. Up on a table he had two(2) Klons. He operated them by hand. He also changed the batteries in both every set. Every night out he did this. Crazy. rct
  19. Well that's different. I only did it one time, I put a cd player in one of our Crown Vics, the 2001. Truly, it sucked. I should have never done it myself but there it is. In those days anyone would put them in, not like today. I wouldn't even know where to go to do that. Good luck with it. And don't worry about your music. You know enough to get the mixes pretty dang good without the cd player. rct
  20. Dude. Try to focus. You don't have the market cornered on getting music out to a mastering house. You aren't the only guy in your town probably that is checking mixes on various systems/speaker types. I've got six pairs of monitors and two subs. I also use two junk stage monitors that the band doesn't use any longer, and yeah, they are good to listen to a mix through. That's all just in the room for me. I know all about this stuff, same as you. This all started because you are screaming at the sky about no cd players in cars. From you: phone, Spotify, iTunes, car CD Player, Computer, Turntable sound system. That's from you. CD IS 2.6% OF MUSIC SALES. You want to check mixes on a system you can't get, the car CD player. So you can't get one to check mixes on so you can make sure that EVERYONE ELSE THAT CAN'T GET ONE gets a good mix. Do I have that right? YOU DON'T NEED A FRIGGIN CD PLAYER TO PLAY MUSIC ON CAR STEREO SPEAKERS. Period. That's the thread. Holy crap. Do you put your band videos on High Def Beta Max and watch them on the Quasar black & white 13"? rct

  22. The people buying your music don't care what DAW you used, how many hertz you recorded it at, nor how you monitored the playback for mixing purposes. They don't know mp3 from wav from 45rpm. It sounds good or it doesn't, they like it or they don't. They have a vast universe of music to buy that didn't require a pickup truck CD player to get mixed well. rct
