  1. I swapped off a '72 Les Paul Recording that I kicked myself for many times. That was my second Gibson, the first Les Paul, and I gigged that guitar so much in Mesa/Phoenix and then for a decade plus down along the Gulf Coast (Lake Charles/Beaumont/New Orleans) that I wore the frets to the board. When I relocated to the Heartland around 1994 it was nearly unplayable, I was nearly broke, and I didn't have any contacts and needed a workhorse quick and swapped it even for an American Strat. About 800/900 bucks at the time. I've since gone all acoustic and rarely play my electrics, although I still have a few. I still miss the Les Paul though, I learned how to be a working musician with that guitar.
  2. That's the first stuff I'd throw away. If I ever saw it...
  3. Sean Watkins plays bluegrass "style" with a Gibby, but yea, it is weird how that turned out. I'm sticking with mine, but I'm not hardly strictly bluegrass, either...
  4. I started playing in 1969. I don't think I ever owned one of these, you'd think I would have, but I really don't recall it. Cool collection, tough.
  5. Mine hurts when I look to the left, pulling out in traffic. I finally just quit looking and go for it.
  6. And here it is in the middle of the woods, no mic, no amp just an ipad sitting on a log 15 feet away.
  7. I'd call mine "chunky". My J-45 is rosewood/ebony and it's more "woody" to me. But louder than the walnut imo. Here's mine, no effects just an SM57 through a Bose S1-Pro.
  8. During his physical, the doctor asked the patient about his daily activity level He described a typical day this way: 'Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded along the edge of a lake, drank eight beers, escaped from wild dogs in the heavy brush, jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake, marched up and down several rocky hills, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quicksand and took four leaks behind big trees.' Inspired by the story, the doctor said, 'You must be one heck of an outdoors man! 'NAH,' he replied, 'I'm just a crappy golfer.'
  9. A hunter kills and eats a bald eagle, and is arrested for violating the Endangered Species Act. He pleads guilty, and throws himself on the mercy of the court. "Your Honor," the hunter said, "I had no idea that it was illegal to kill and eat a bald eagle. If you let me go, I'll never do it again." "You've committed a very serious crime," the judge replies. "But you clearly weren't aware of the law, so I'm willing to overlook it this one time. However, before I let you go, I'm going to ask you to do one thing." "Anything, Your Honor," the hunter replies. "What is it?" The judge says, "It's been illegal to kill a protected species for many years, so very few people have ever eaten a bald eagle. For the record, can you please tell everyone what a bald eagle tastes like?" The hunter thinks for a moment and then replies, "It tastes pretty good. Kind of like a cross between a spotted owl and a condor."
  10. What does a cop and a dj have in common They both tell drunk people to put their hands up
  11. What a cool piece. And, welcome to the Gibson Forums.
  12. I'm feeding and saving squirrels for when they want us to eat bugs. I don't eat squirrels now but might in the future.
  13. I love history...
  14. That's cool as heck. I'm a huge fan of the J-15. I swapped into mine to take pressure (fret wear) off of my J-45 and fell in love with the skinny neck, chunky sound and it's become part of my arsenal. Yours is mighty fine.
  15. There are a lot of options in acoustic amps. If you are going to sing through it as well, I really like the Bose stuff. I piggy-back (line out) theS1-Pro along with an L1-Compact for live venues all the time. If it's large and/or outdoors, sometimes I'll line that out to a Carvin AG100D. Or a p.a. system. Or a 4:10 cab/xr600. My daughter has a Fender Rumble bass amp that sounds great with her Epiphone acoustic. However, it won't work for vocals. Try stuff and be creative. There are no rules.
  16. My thoughts, as well.
  17. I think I was booted from there a long time ago. I still have a Tele.
  18. I'd leave Darwin out of it.
  19. I bought my daughter one of those when she was about 12. I was over at her house yesterday and played that thing for an hour.
